anyone can recommend a nice detective series?
must be damn smart brain tickling kind, not action fast and fury type
MCO so long need to stir fry my brain a bit
Either its a 1 long case or many cases. Detective Dee and Iris k-drama i watched edi. Sherlock holmes good but only a few episodes. Dont like Japanese.
Not Criminal minds lar, watched many seasons and they recycled way too many times same plot.

I likey Biohacker ... just a 6-episodes German series on Netflix.
Binge-worthy.

But I wish I'll wait till Season 2 is out in the future, then watch in one go.
Becoz ... the Season 1 finale, such a cliffhanger!

Anyone watched Devs?

Good show ... depressing a bit, but still philosophically good.
Made me noticed Sonoya Mizuno more, she's been in Alex Garland's previous work Ex Machina too.

In similar vein but completely opposite tone, is the comedy-drama-sci-fi Upload. 10 episodes of half-hour shows, from Amazon Prime. Looking forward to Season 2.

Have you guys seen The Queen's Gambit?. Not that good but can fill extra free time. 6.5/10

I would give it 9/10 ... out of the 7 episodes, only episode 6 felt not focused enough.
The series won't introduce viewers to the game of western chess, it'll just mention the opening moves names and the many variation of strategies, expecting most will be familiar with the game already.
The focus is on the main character, Elizabeth Harmon, her life and mentality, how she climbs the world of chess ranking, how she copes with it.
(I think choosing Anya Taylor-Joy is a great move here, her big eyes are expressive on their own, without any words uttered; most of the tension during the matches are ... silent type)

Last week, I thought I'll just watch the first episode around 10pm on Sunday night ... big mistake; I ended up watching the whole 7 episodes, until 4am+ ... that's how gripping the limited series is for me, and judging from IMDB, for most also; tho, understandably some parts are too convenient to advance the story, many chess important checkmate moves aren't illustrated/explained by bystanders/commentators, and some might be put off by the subtle feminism subplot.

Irregulars quite good for me. Sherlock only appears on ep 3 iinm but he was still not the main focus of the series. Finale needs a bit more oomph though.

Any logical explanations for the mysteries/cases by the end of Irregulars? Worth following till the end?

I watched 1st episode but decided not to continue altho the series looks good, and concept is interesting; never seen a series/movie about the 'street informers' of Sherlock Holmes.

Becoz if really all supernatural reasons, then that's not Sherlock Holmes already.
All Sherlock cases started looks like supernatural but in the end, got human do one; he just need to prove using science, chemistry, & logical explanation.

This Irregular, terbalik, first episode already seems like natural events, but the guy said he can't naturally explain it, and looks like got paranormal source.
And Watson like dump the cases on the girls and boys to solve, not just gather information laugh.gif

Invincible any good?

It's pretty uneven. Pretty good for the most part, but some of the bad/mediocre stuff pops up now and then.
Also, the first episode isn't an indicative of the series as a whole until last 3 minutes which happen mid-credit.

Non-Marvel/DC superheroes series oriented towards adults (The Boys, Invincible, The Umbrella Academy, Jupiter's Legacy, The Nevers, etc.) do seem to have some draggy episodes also ... maybe becoz the showrunners were asked to fill 10 or at least 8 episodes? So there's bound to be fillers/uninteresting sub-plots. (Hmmm ... The Nevers Season 1 only 6 episodes, so it does feel tighter a bit). But not as bad as Marvel/DC network series, those with ~20 episodes per season. Marvel/DC cable/streaming series, like Netflix ones or Titans, still okay for me.

The Boys is more consistent, still can surprise me. Didn't think they could top Homelander, then came Stormfront.

Invincible, ya, the teenage impatient-ness did make me wanna fast forward; more interested in Omni-man mystery.

Same with Jupiter's Legacy ... more interested in the origins of the 1st gen heroes, why the Code, less interested in their children's drama ... the costumes, errr ....

The Umbrella Academy ... broken family drama also, still watchable for me coz got mysterious time-travelling storyline.

The Nevers ... with similar X-Men, mutants, Miss Peregrine theme; altho Joss Whedon's got not-stellar reputation since Jack Synder's JL cut, and previous co-workers complained about his behaviour as director ... this series is also watchable for me; a sci-fi fantasy with a touch of steampunk.
