If interest added on monthly, the way you described is compounded interest, the effective rate is even hogher than 4%.
First month - 10000
2nd month - 10000 + 33.33
3rd month 10033 + 33.44
4th month 10066.44 + 33.55 ...
Not sure about your product. Typically when bank said interest added on to principal refers to the interest earned after maturity will be added onto the principal
This is not a normal FD, it is a GIA-i acct. Monthly pay out can be added to principle and roll to next mth. So the example showned by the forumer is correct. I got this product. For me I did not know of this feature and is paid monthly without touching the principle sum.

we should share info which has certain level of "correctness". just like someone say mbb gives 6% (current gia-i), is it a correct statement? waste of time & excitement.
bro, you are not a newbi.

you are selling ut. even 5.5% for bond fund also can sell. not to say fd. so fd 5.5% in dec? at least someone who dream say fd 6% but later.

CB sold me a bond fund 4 yrs ago with payout of 5%. Now they sent me a letter with explanation that it cannot hit that 5%. Just average 3.8% !!

Minus my initial SC paid, will be even lower return !!

Reasons bla bla bla !
Anyway FD effective 5.5% at this stage will be SUPER DUPER, unlikely except in step-up !

For me, I would verify info if not clear before sharing here.
