yea..."more fun in their eyes".
that has been sorely lacking this season...even in goals scored.

too bad tonight's game is an away game, else i would expect to see the director's box full of anfield legends.

and rumors are that origi is starting, with sturridge on bench...apparently 'swollen knee' from training (just like Ings)... #KloppOUT! tongue.gif

Don't tell me Sturridge is injure again... sweat.gif

At least it is a clean sheet, something that were rare and never happen in the past 2 months +.

Sturridge injured again?
How long... another season? sweat.gif doh.gif

Without any recognised striker, even the special one will find hard to do them magic.

QUOTE(koolspyda @ Oct 20 2015, 09:47 PM)

Neville questioned most other top managers i.e. Fergie, wenger, pellerini, jose Etc does not employ such high energy pressing that had klopp just tried to employ. I think it was mentioned in the interview too Brendan's Liverpool too doesn't  sweat.gif do (tikitaka) high pressing
*
Actually, JM defensive record needs hardworking midfielder to close down opponent to achieve clean sheet, not too much dissimilar to high energy play.

It is about discipline.
If the team want to deploy high press, then everyone in the team must cooperate to close down, a single or 2 players high press won't work one.

Actually, high press is not about defending, but to disrupt opponent normal play. When you disrupt opponent normal way of playing or style they familiar with, then high chance they may play badly.

While if opponent lose the ball during pressing, it is easier to score, as opponent may not have time to re-organise, (just like it is easier to score in a fast counter attack), instead of tiki taka build from back,, which may always facing 2 wall of defending of 8/9 players.
It is about high press to get goal as well.

Just like the game between watford n arsenal the other day.. watford did brilliantly in the first half, pressing quickly n completely denied arsenal time n space. But in the end, it drains their energy out, they getting tired n the pressing got slower... final score, they lost 0-3.
Stamina n desire is crucial... but looking at our midfielders, I dont think there will be a problem.

Fitness level is crucial to make it success.

As mentioned or the word "high octane" game, then you need plenty of fuel and efficiency.

Plenty of fuel - good in fitness and stamina.
Efficiency, kill the game off with goal(s) with clinical finish.

It is not about pressing for defending purpose, but to get goal(s) to win the match through the pressing process.
Just like the first 20 min vs Spurs, if managed to nick a goal or 2 during that time, the team can be in more comfortable situation already.

QUOTE(AnythingK @ Oct 22 2015, 08:36 AM)
Too bad that we can't recall Markovic, although he is not the best we got, but we do really need a true winger now.
Apart from Ibe, who else do we have who is a natural winger? Sterling is the best we have previously, but he is gone now.

Speak about set pieces, other than Balotelli who is not with us now, I don't see anyone else could score from free kick. As for corner, I'd love Moreno to take it, watched several corner from him, its the best we have now, better than Milner.
*
For set piece, there is only a few candidate only, sadly to say.

Apart from Coutinho, whose shot actually not quite fierce enough for longer range, the next probable candidate would be Can, who can shoot from long range or thunderbolt.
The rest... sweat.gif

For corner, you need someone can wipe in a curling corner, so that it is difficult to defend, while current plenty of corner taken was like floating ball into the six yard box, which is easy to defend upon

This explains why the team struggle to get goal(s).

Actually I didn't watch the game last night and I just watched the highlight on my facebook just now. Maybe i am wrong about this, it seems Liverpool attack a lot but the clinical finishing is not there. Well, maybe sometimes football is like this.
*
It was final third movement, precise passing lacking.

This is the result the team lacking goal scorers and creative players.
Even the most creative player in the team aka Coutinho is not known for his shooting that can deliver double digit goals per season.

Too many average passer in the team, but lack of goal scorer.

Not something new, has been like that since last season.

Klopp: "There's a little fluid inside [his knee]," and he'll need another scan.

this is why he'll never be top class. won't be surprised if he retires early doh.gif

Klopp suffers from too much hype. There will be no dramatic change with this squad, at least not this season. Klopp was smart enough to declare himself as 'normal'.

I agree with McManaman that Klopp would have done extremely well to take the Reds anywhere near the top 4 this season.

The squad is like a worn out boat : change some planks here and there, and then a leak appears somewhere else. Of the new players, I think Origi may not be able to make it. Of the older players, Skrtle seems to be error prone this season. I think Lovren and Allen will have to be cleared out.

It is not a bad squad but 'not bad' cannot get into CL these days. We will be fortunate to get back into Europa League again, I think.
*
Summary,
this is a midtable squad to start with.

Benteke's goal, showed this is the way to play if you have a striker like him, not tiki taka. Simple, effective.

The match "came alive" when Benteke was subbed in halftime.
Origi simply not good enough to lead the line alone at current moment.

A lot of work needs to be done and change in personnel needed.
Don't expect any miracle to happen nor any chance to be in top 4 contention for this season.

It is like asking an average car we bought out there to race in F1, and expect it can compete head to head to F1 car.
Klopp is not a magician. laugh.gif

Klopp has unbeaten run since he taking in chage..., why nobody brag about it. laugh.gif (remember 13 matches unbeaten run quote?)

Non-Liverpool related but I never knew Dzeko, Salah and Szczesny are in Roma. Wtf, since when? Wtf, and Klose is in Lazio. What.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting a win against Southampton. Their trio of Tadic, Pelle, Mane looks pretty scary to what we have to offer.

Positive side is seeing Moreno playing well. Only watched the first half though.

How was the second half?
*
Second half, the team look more "lively" and more fluid after Benteke being introduced.

The final third is still one of biggest problem, players didn't connect way nor had good understanding in front.

So far, Benteke has scored quite a few stunners for Liverpool. 1 - chest down, long range half volley, 2 - powerful bycycle kick & 3 - towering header. We have to unleash this beast.
*
He is powerful type of striker, just how manager utilise his strength only.

Tell him to nutmeg and tiki taka like Suarez, surely doesn't work well.

Football doesn't must be played on the ground only, aerial power is also an option.
Look at the goals he scored, all come from aerial ball from crosses.

This has been mentioned earlier in the season, the club bought a powerful type of striker who is renowned his aerial strength, but the team playing tiki taka, all pass on the ground.

I speechless with the money amount spent, and now left with Origi with the only recognised striker.

Injury record of a player should be one of top agenda in the players recruitment.
