Rig 1.0
CPU | Intel Core i5-4690K
CPU Cooler | Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard | Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150
Memory | Kingston HyperX Fury 4GBx2
Storage | Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card | Palit/Gainward/Zotac Nvidia GTX 970 (Can't really decide yet)
Case | Corsair 200R ATX
PSU | COOLER MASTER V550

Rig 1.1
CPU | Intel Core i7-6700
CPU Cooler | Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard | Asrock Z170 Extreme 4
Memory | Kingston HyperX Fury 8gb DDR4
Storage | Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card | Palit/Gainward/Zotac Nvidia GTX 970 (Can't really decide yet)
Case | Corsair 200R ATX
PSU | COOLER MASTER V550

So how much for these 2 builds?
*
First one around 4.5k, second one around 5.1k (I assume the i7 is 6700K, if you aren't going for it, no need to pick the Z170 mobo, go for B150/H170 instead).

If purely gaming, no need to go for oc build, not much performance improvements over non-oc build, you can save up to RM 500 by going non-oc build.

PSU can also switch to Seasonic M12II EVO 520W/620W to save cost.

If the case is fixed, meaning you really want it badly, then you have to prepare more funds for it, if not then you can just get cheaper case to save cost.

[Budget]: RM2,500

[Purpose] Gaming, video recording(fraps) and editing

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Peripherals (Keyboard, monitor, mouse)

[Monitor resolution] 1920x1080

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dragon Nest, TERA, Fraps, Sony Vegas

[Personal preferences] NVIDIA brand for GC, 256gb SSD to store preferred games? and boot up too

[Location] Kuala Lumpur

Hi and good morning senpais. I would like to get some suggestions in building PC..

Mainly I just want to build a PC where I can play in high setting (not ultra high) games as stated..
I don't play those console-like game..Only online MMORPG games.
I guess I don't need to spend much for the PC to achieve high setting and have a good FPS (no crispy when playing with
many people and recording)

Currently I am playing with my laptop..Having 20FPS averagely is..tearing me apart.

Also I like to use two monitors to separate game and browsing. If needed, I can squeeze a few hundred RM if it is necessary (up to +RM500)

Thank you sifus and senpais.
Cheers! thumbup.gif

256GB SSD isn't cheap, it will take 20% of your available budget and I'll go for Haswell due to budget unable to fit Skylake.

Intel Core i3 4160 - RM 500
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220
Gainward GTX750Ti 2GB Golden Sample - RM 579
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 409
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 2490 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Fraps kills FPS sometimes, you can consider switching to Nvidia ShadowPlay for recording.

Hi there!

Let's take it for RM3k case.. I might be able to squeeze that (max)
Thanks for the suggestion tho..but I have 128gb SSD..and it's always has <10gb storage (makes me paranoid seeing the red bar)

3k can grant you either Skylake i5 or GTX960 (pick one).

You need to change mobo and RAM also if you move to Skylake.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 875
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289

GPU should be enough, I never played MMORPG games before so I am not sure what is the graphics requirements, but I checked the site, seems pretty low on requirements.

I see.

So here updated one

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 875
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Gainward GTX750Ti 2GB Golden Sample - RM 579
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 409
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total up to RM3114.

I think in the future if I want to make an upgrade, I will just need to upgrade the GPU yes?
Since the others are pretty much updated..

Also..A question.. how much is a good wifi card to put in a desktop? Since i will be using wifi..
(cable too far)

You downgrade to i5 6400 (RM 809) to save money if you wish to do so.

About upgrade, it depends, but from the current selection, GPU upgrade is more likely to happen.

TP-LINK TL-WN881ND PCI-E WiFi adapter (Dual antenna) - RM 63

Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139
BenQ GW2255 - RM 390
Logitech MK200 Wired Combo - RM 65

Total: RM 3643 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Very tight to squeeze in all the parts with 3.5K budget especially with monitor and SSD included, hope you are ok with the minor over budget, if cannot, downgrade the i5 to i5 6400 and you can save roughly RM 80.

Thanks ! but iis the 2400MHz RAM really necessary? Kinda pricy for that

The base clock of DDR4 is 2133MHz, Techview is selling Kingston/Corsair DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM at RM 249.

Some people don't like the appearance of Value RAM because it doesn't have the enclosure (chips exposed), so they will opt for HyperX Fury series instead due to the cheap price tag, only RM 40 difference.

But if you are ok with it, go for it, since you cannot benefit from the extra speed too due to chipset limitation.

You can save money by downgrading the GPU to GTX960 (RM 819) because GTX970 is too overkill for Dota 2, if you play other latest games, then keep it.

For me, I would buy better gc first and then just buy the ssd later. if u drop the ssd for rm400 then u can upgrade your gc to zotac gtx960 for another rm200-300 with 5 years warranty. somemore u can play some graphic demanding game at low - medium setting at pretty good fps.

Is it good to settle for the GC, but in return take 128gb SSD first..
And buy good HDD for better game loading? <--I am not sure about this though..

The only reason why i chose SSD is to load faster when using PC.. and loading screen in games blush.gif

Normally I will focus on GPU first, loading time is not a main consideration factor for me, it is just either slower or faster (the game will still load), but for GPU, once you bought it, you are stuck with the performance forever unless you upgrade it.

Is Zotac GTX960 good enough for any latest game though? If i happen to be interested into it..mainly Fallout 4.
Hmm. Now i am going to change my mind for a bit nod.gif
