Hi, this system is bottleneck?

Intel Skylake Core i7-6700 - RM1383
Asus Maximus VIII Ranger - RM999
Avexir Core Series 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 2400mhz - RM488
Asus Nvidia GTX750 TI OC 2GB GDDR5 128BIT - RM689
*
No issue just GPU is not high end, if no heavy gaming and only play MOBA like Dota 2, LoL then everything is fine.

But you don't need that expensive mobo if you aren't going for overclocking build.

QUOTE(eehtsitna @ Jan 20 2016, 08:47 AM)
Thanks for the prompt reply. Does that mean that if i were to increase my budget to RM3500 I can get a i5 6500 + GTX970 setup? By the way, what is the difference between the Gigabyte H170-HD3 and B150M-D3H?

Thanks in advance.
*
Yes possible with 3.5k.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 885
Gigabyte H170-HD3 - RM 529
GSKill NT 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 249
Palit GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1399
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 199
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149

Total: RM 3410 (Idealtech price inclusive of GST)

H170-HD3 is ATX mobo, more PCI-E slots while B150M-D3H is mATX mobo, lesser PCI-E slots.

Thanks again bro,

This is what i have in mind at the moment.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 885
Gigabyte B150M-D3H - RM 439
GSKill NT 8GBx2 DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 489
Palit GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1399
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 199
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149
WD 1TB HDD - RM 219

What will be the bottleneck for this setup? Is the 16GB RAM a bit overkill here?

Thanks in advance.
*
Nope, it fits perfectly, for normal usage and gaming, no issue, but if the game is really CPU demanding then you might see some CPU bottlenecks, mainly AC: Syndicate and Crysis 3 where you can see 100% CPU usage most of the time, but you don't really have to care too much because frame rate is still quite decent and playable.

If you have extra RM 250 that you can fork out for another 8GB RAM then go ahead, if budget is tight then better don't, you won't see any improvement if the software/games you use don't use > 8GB RAM, spending the RM 250 in SSD is a much wiser choice.

Hi guys! Please recommend a rig configuration based on these info.

[Budget] Rm3000

[Purpose] Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, keyboard, mouse

[Monitor resolution] 720p and higher

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota 2 Diablo 3

[Personal preferences]
Maybe inlcude some cooling
[Location] KL

Thanks in advance.
*
Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 828
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 399
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 AMP - RM 899
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 180

Total: RM 2910 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Top up some money for SSD if you want.

As for cooling, you can rely on stock cooler for the CPU cooling and the case comes with 1 exhaust fan, you can add 2 intake fans for better airflow.

hahaha how about the max setting for dota 2 ?

what is the requirement ? previously my 8600gt can get it to max, but a bit laggy when clash..

since I left those hardware update nowadays, I dont have any idea what and which gfx I can choose and affordable  hmm.gif
*
Skylake desktop CPU comes with Intel HD 530 which is almost equivalent to GT 730 (GDDR5 version), so you should be expecting it to run max settings at around 40 FPS-ish, to get stable 60 FPS, medium settings will do.

Due to low budget, you can either pick i3 + no dedicated GPU or Pentium + low end dedicated GPU.

You will benefit from i3 if your database farming/mining workload is heavy or it is multicore enabled.

Thanks for the explanation.  smile.gif  I think I will prefer i3 + dedicated GPU..

Which one do you suggest if let say my budget is 400 below..?
*
i3 + dedicated GPU will require more budget.

New GPU below RM 400 (R7 250X, GT 730/740) is not worth to get because the performance will be almost similar to Skylake iGPU.

Pretty obvious you shouldn't since it doesn't worth blush.gif

Save the RM 400 first, upgrade to a more powerful dedicated GPU only when you have more funds.

btw bro, do some googling, mentioned mobo spec is ddr3..

Can we slot in DDR4 ram on it ?  hmm.gif

There are 2 exact same models, one is DDR3, another one is DDR4, DDR3 model has DDR3 stated clearly and printed on the box.

DDR3

I'm building a gaming rig for around 4.5k, any suggestions? Since i've already got a ddr3 8gb ram, i wonder if i should continue to use it or switch to ddr4.. i also plan to get a 256gb ssd and 1tb hdd.. thanks in advance
*
You can sell it off if you wish to move to DDR4.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 915
Gigabyte H170-HD3 - RM 488
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
MSI GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Tiger - RM 1535
Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB SSD - RM 385
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 409
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 170

Total: RM 4317 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

If you sell off the 8GB DDR3 RAM, you might be able to upgrade the CPU to i7 6700 (RM 1384), swap the mobo to MSI B150M Bazooka D4 (mATX form factor, RM 399) to cover up the extra cost if needed.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Is there any good motherboard that support 6th generation intel cpu and ddr 3? Or the performance difference between ddr 3 and ddr 4 is too big?
*
Not recommended to use DDR3 on Skylake due to this reason.

DDR4 overall brings better data transfer speed and power consumption, the price is almost very close to DDR3 now and Skylake works better with DDR4 so I don't see a reason to keep the DDR3.

hey maties.. looking for a gaming pc.. budget is rm6500.. with kb mousr and monitor.. thx smile.gif if they can build the pc together will be wonderful smile.gif
*
6.5k is a large budget and you didn't give more information on what build you are looking for, especially monitor/peripherals requirements, so I will just focus on CPU and GPU more.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1384
Gigabyte H170-HD3 - RM 488
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX980Ti 6GB GDDR5 AMP - RM 2899
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 229
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 409
Corsair Carbide Spec-01 - RM 240
Logitech MK200 Wired Combo - RM 65
Acer S230H FHD - RM 399

Total: RM 6528 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

GTX980Ti might be a little bit overkill for 1080p gaming but it will last you for quite a while before you need to upgrade again, if you want a better monitor/keyboard/mouse/case then you can downgrade it to either GTX970/GTX980/R9 390/R9 390X etc to cover up the cost.

Guys need suggestion for rig only. TQ Sifuu

[Budget] : RM 2500+-

[Purpose]: Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Casing

[Location] KL

[Personal preferences]
Prefer i5 Skylake. Dont need 1TB HDD, 500gb is enough cause i will delete games after finishing it.
*
Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 828
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 - RM 290
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ITX - RM 849
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189

Total: RM 2571 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

I assume your case can fit mATX mobo (you didn't mention the form factor in your post).

If you need a new monitor then you have to downgrade the i5 to i3, if not it will be over budget.

500GB and 1TB HDD price difference is very small, only ~RM 20 so the 500GB is definitely not worth to get.

Hi guys, need some recommendation on building a rig. As for your info, imma newbie.

[Budget] Below RM3000

[Purpose] Gaming and streaming.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Mouse and keyboard

[Monitor resolution] 720p or 1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota2, Call of duty, CS.

[Location] Kuala Lumpur/ Klang Valley.

[Personal preferences] Thinking of i5, but i7 would be better tongue.gif

Thanks in advance  notworthy.gif
*
Your requirement isn't high, no need to get i7, but even if you want i7, your budget won't be able to fit now sweat.gif

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 828
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 - RM 290
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ITX - RM 849
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149
Acer S230H FHD - RM 399

Total: RM 3119 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

As you can see, i5 + GTX960 rig can cost you more than 3k already, so i7 is definitely impossible, if you cannot make up the extra funds (RM 119 in your case), you can choose to downgrade the i5 to i3 or GPU from GTX960 to GTX950/GTX750Ti.

As you wish but you will have lots of budget left.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1384
Gigabyte H170-HD3 - RM 488
Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 400

WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 409
Corsair Carbide Spec-01 - RM 240
Logitech G100 Gaming Combo - RM 149

Either swap to overclocking build, or upgrade GPU to R9 390X, or get a 144Hz monitor, or even a high end Ultrasharp 1440p monitor is also possible.

Hi, I'm looking to build the smallest and lightest form factor with the possibility of having a sound card and a graphic card. Budget is around 8K. For gaming purpose on a 1440P monitor. Rig only. Any advice?
*
ITX only comes with 1 PCI-E slot so it can only fit either your dedicated GPU or sound card, the mobo below comes with ROG SupremeFX Impact III sound card built in.

Intel Core i7 6700K - RM 1548
Asus Maximus VIII Impact - RM 1158
Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2666MHz RAM - RM 529
MSI GTX980Ti 6GB GDDR5 Twin Frozr Gaming - RM 3299
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 229
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Silverstone SX600-G - RM 575
Corsair Hydro H55 - RM 269
Silverstone SG13B-Q - RM 235

Total: RM 8057 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

If you happen to have a sound card with you already and want to use it instead then you have to move to mATX form factor.
