From Lazada actually. Thought of buying 2 items from there. BenQ monitor & another item, total is RM1000 exactly. Last week Lazada was having spring sales and I was planning to use the RM200 firework voucher but before I do the transaction the voucher used up. Should blame myself actually because was thinking whether should get it or not for too long. Not sure when the next fireworks will come.

I got the same monitor got last year 11.11 sale for RM525 usually RM575
if that benq monitor is sold and fulfill by lazada then you cnat apply any voucher (sensation item), have not tried the -RM200 voucher tho but probably will not work.

that firework voucher finish soo quick.

Get H170 chipset only if your budget allows or you need the extra features of H170 chipset, if not B150 or lowest end H110 is enough.

If you want to keep everything under 1k, H170 isn't possible anymore, DDR4 based 1151 socket mobo is also not cheap as well, the cheapest I have seen is around RM 290 so total up will still > 1k.

Unless you want to risk it by getting a DDR3 based Skylake mobo (cheaper) but not recommended due to this reason.

Does i7 6700k helps in rendering compared to i7 6700 ?
Which one is better ? Do include comparisons on overclock too if you can sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

i7 6700k + GTX950 or
i7 6700 + GTX960

Well, if my friend want to go for i7 6700k, she will need cpu cooling and that will cost more right ?

The higher clock speed will help a bit, it is 3.4GHz vs 4GHz.

If rendering and no gaming, then go for a faster CPU, not all software use GPU as hardware accelerator so it might end up with zero usage at all.

If you go for i7 6700K and would like to overclock, you need Z170 and aftermarket cooler, this increases the total cost.

And if possible, go for a faster memory (> 3000MHz), it does help speed up the whole operation speed, but it comes with a cost as well, so in conclusion, if budget is tight, go for non-overclock build, it is just slightly slower than overclock build but you can save a lot of money and time (no need to spend time to adjust overclock settings).

So basically this is what she is recommended

i7 6700k
Asus Z170
Kingston HyperX Fury 1600MHz 8GB
Seagate 1TB
Corsair ATX
PSU 750W
GTX960 4GB DDR5

as for the base clock for i7 6700 is 3.4GHz, it is sufficient right ? and she doesnt have that much info on how to overclock etc should really go for a non-overclock build right ? and some of the info on professor google said that
i7 6700 have base clock speed 3.4GHz and up to 4GHz, how to achieve that 4GHz ? dem, a lot of question need to be clear off sweat.gif

Running Z170 but with DDR3 RAM? Because the RAM you listed is 1600MHz which is a DDR3 module speed, DDR4 starts with 2133MHz as base clock.

i7 6700 base clock is 3.4GHz with turbo speed of 4.0GHz and 3.7-3.8GHz when all cores are being utilized, the turbo speed is enabled by default in BIOS (normal case), the system will automatically boost the speed when needed, just make sure your power options is not set to "power saving mode".

It is 1151 and 1150 tongue.gif

Price difference between them isn't huge, if your budget is really really tight, then just pick the older 1150 platform.
