can you help to recommend if the budget is RM3K? Probably downgrade the proc and gpu?
*
Will downgrade the GPU to GTX960 and remove the SSD for now to keep everything < 3K.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 875
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90306-10M - RM 840
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 2966 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Thanks for the reply bro,

I'm actually planning to OC my CPU in the future in the event where it's getting outdated and started to bottleneck. Also I'm in favor of an ATX mobo too. What are my other options ? Is it going to be worth it upgrading to Skylake ? or should I stick to Haswell ?
*
If you are planning to go for OC build, you need to increase your budget, the unlocked i5 costs more than RM 1000 now and the cheapest Z170 ATX board is going to cost you RM 700+, new pair of DDR4 RAM is around RM 300+/-, if you don't have a 3rd party cooler, you need to prepare extra budget for it too because Skylake "K" series CPUs do not come with stock cooler.

Price difference for Haswell and Skylake is not huge but of course Haswell will cost you less money, you can consider Haswell if you are ok with last gen hardware, and Haswell is being phased out now, if you want Haswell, better act fast before it is too late.

And about OC the CPU in the future when it starts to bottleneck, OC can help a little, but not much when it hits the limit, just like what happen to your current CPU, if budget is tight, just go for a locked i5, it can sustain for few years before showing bottleneck symptoms and by the time it shows bottleneck symptoms, you already have the funds to upgrade it, this is more cost effective in my opinion.

QUOTE(Bull Poli @ Nov 3 2015, 07:16 PM)
Can help me with a low budget gaming pc?

[Budget] 2.5k best, if worth it 3k

[Purpose] Mostly gaming

[Monitor resolution]1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota, Lol, Need For Speed, Minecraft

[Personal preferences] Nvidia and Intel.... Not too big fan of amd

[Location] Perlis...

If possible, want 2.5k just for monitor and. Thx
*
2.5K with monitor will hurt the spec, 3K is more ideal.

Will use Haswell (4th gen) instead of Skylake (6th gen) due to budget unable to fit it.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 810
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220
Gainward GTX960 2GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 799
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139
BenQ GW2255 - RM 390

Total: RM 3001 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

If you really wish to keep everything below 2.5K, you can either
1. Downgrade the CPU to i3 (close to 2.7K)
2. Downgrade the CPU to i3 and GPU to GTX750 (close to 2.4K)

But you are warned that i3 and GTX750 might not give you a very smooth gameplay in latest games, but Dota 2, LoL and Minecraft won't be affected that much.

[Monitor resolution]

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
dota 2, adobe master collection, matlab

how about these spec below?

core i7 6700k
4gbx2 ram
SLI mobo
1tb hdd
GTX7/9 series
coolermaster b700 700w
casing

thx alot~
*
Wait, I have to clarify first, you stated you are going to reuse your current processor and graphics card, but below there you asked how about these specs which include an unlocked Skylake i7 and nvidia GTX GPU, so the question is do you already own the i7 and the nvidia GTX GPU or you are going to buy them using your budget?

If yes, then sorry, 3.5K cannot fit them all. The specs you asked for require at least 5K minimum.

icic, if a 3.5k gaming rig, can you assemble 1 for me? prefer intel processor with gtx7 series~
*
Any specific reason to get the older GTX7xx series since GTX9xx has pretty much replaced it?

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 875
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Zotac GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1350
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 3476 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

You can top up RM 130 to get the non reference unit of Zotac GTX970 (RM 1479) which runs cooler than reference card.

Oh nice.

any reason no one recommends these?

there is the typical
haswell + H81 chepo mobo from RM230

why not pair one of these skylake with these RM330 mobos, not much different from H81, typical user dont need the extra usb , ram, pci ports/slots

a typical haswell i5 built, will need to topup around RM320 to DDR4 + skylake, which is a lot better put that money to better graphics card.

now if it was DDR3 + i5 skylake + H110 mobo, the top up is RM140,
i think some mobo support both ddr3 OR ddr4. not sure if they in malaysia.
*
Most of them are DDR3 based, reports saying that prolonged use of DDR3 on Skylake board will cause damage to memory controller due to higher voltage of DDR3.

oh ic, good point

how about low voltage ddr3 its very similar in prices as normal ddr3
*
DDR3L for desktop is not available widely in Malaysia, but Skylake CPU do work better with DDR4 so why still go back to DDR3?

If really want to save cost or budget is a concern, just go for Haswell instead, performance difference between them aren't huge.

I checked the link you posted and looked for PSU info and it says "Maximum Power Supply Wattage 250 W", can you please open your case and check the PSU model?

If you don't know what is the model, you can snap a photo of the PSU and post here.

But OEM PC normally comes with low grade PSU which cannot support mid/high end GPU, so you might need to change PSU if it is not compatible with the upgrade.

And about the fan noise, probably the stock cooler is crying already laugh.gif

Hi, Please help to suggest a rig for purpsoe below :

[Budget] RM1k

[Purpose] Movies, browsing

[Preference] preferable with i3-processor, do not need monitor

Include monitor?

So i need to change my stock cooler ?
*
Alright, if you can, clean up the cooler, if you never clean it before, watch tutorial video on Youtube.

For 1K budget, you can fit these,

1. Another 4GB RAM - RM 125
2. Zotac GTX950 Single Fan - RM 699
3. FSP Hexa+ 550W PSU - RM 189

I googled the model of your PSU, seems like it is a 300W PSU, so PSU is recommended to change as well to run new GPU.

If you can spare another RM 100, go for Gainward GTX960 Reference (RM 799). CPU bottleneck might be possible but that's the solution for now, upgrade CPU next time when you have more money.

hi,monitor is not needed ..
*
i3 is not possible with your budget, the cheapest i3 costs nearly RM 500 now.

Intel Pentium G3250 - RM 229
ASRock H81M-VG4 - RM 209
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 99
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 400W - RM 129
Cheap casing (your choice) ~ RM 100

Total: RM 985

If you really want i3, you can just get those cheap case which bundles with PSU (roughly RM 100 in total for case + PSU), but you are warned that the quality of the PSU is totally unknown, don't come back and find me if anything happen to your PC laugh.gif

[Budget]
If can around 1.5k , if not then around 2k-2.5k

[Purpose]
Light-Medium Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
Currently Own :
MOBO : GigaByte G31M-ES2L
PROC : Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.8GHz
RAM : 4GB
GPU : AMD Radeon 5670

[Monitor resolution]
Currently using Samsung SyncMaster P2350

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Tried with current rig :-
Metal Gear Solid 5 : Phantom Pain - OK
Dragon Age Inquisition - Not Good (In the end ABANDON)
The Witcher 3 - Not Good (In the end ABANDON)

[Personal preferences]
1) Best would be i3 and above as technology keep improving , cant catch up with the pace.
2) My MOBO i think only can support up to Core 2 Quad / Extreme , which i doubt is good to upgrade (I think this rig around 8-10yrs?)
3) HDD , Casing and other peripheral can buy a new one.
4) I dun mind running in Low-Medium spec for current gaming technology

[Location]
Selangor / KL
Thanks all the sensei that helps ~
*
Rig based on < 2K, this spec can run games at low/med settings, but please take note some games won't run on dual core i3 like Far Cry 4, if there are more games to follow this trend then you might need to consider upgrading the i3 to i5 and Haswell (4th gen) is used due to Skylake (6th gen) i3 not yet reach Malaysia.

Intel Core i3 4160 - RM 497
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 209
Leadtek GTX750 2GB GDDR5 OC - RM 480
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 1968 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

If you want to maximize your budget, you can either upgrade the CPU to Haswell i5 (+ RM 300), completely switch to Skylake i5 platform (+ RM 500) or upgrade the GPU to GTX960 (+ RM 350).

You can upgrade to Skylake i5 (if you want latest Intel chip and quad core) or GTX960 (if you want to play other games at high settings) with the remaining of your budget (assuming you are ok to utilize all your 2.5K)

1) Which means to upgrade to i5 Haswell , that will be switch from the i3 to i5 [RM1968 + 300 = RM 2268] to have a better performance for current gaming tech ?
2) I see that you propose other 3 types of option, may i know which option will be optimum ?
*
Yes i5 with quad core will have better performance in latest big titles, but it won't improve the graphics settings you can run.

Upgrading to GTX960 gets you almost twice the performance of GTX750, if you are not fancy in graphics settings, GTX750 should be enough for you, an upgrade to i5 will be more suitable.

Whether to go Skylake or not, well it depends on your budget, performance difference between Haswell and Skylake isn't huge and if you don't mind getting outdated hardware, Haswell will be more cost efficient for the time being.

To solve the noise issue, get a new CPU cooler, no need to change entirely.

If you want to change CPU, yes you need to change mobo also.

A quick question ..
1)I went to check the casing , and i noticed there is no USB Port or possible removable port for it ??
* Just noticed its at the top side , instead of the traditional front side*
2) What about the heat issue ? This is what i gotten from their website
Cooling System
Front (intake) :(optional)
120 x 120 x 25 mm x 2
Rear (exhaust) :
120 x 120 x 25 mm Turbo fan (1000rpm, 16dBA)
Top (exhaust) :(optional)
120 x 120 x 25 mm x 2"
*
Temperature shouldn't be an issue for your specs, but if you aren't satisfied with the temperature, get more casing fans, but you need to ensure you have a positive airflow for optimum temperature management.
