Popular choice you guys keep recommending - FSP Power Supply
RM180 - 1 year warranty
FSP Power Supply HEXA+ Series 550W (HEXA+ 550)
http://www.lelong.com.my/fsp-power-supply-...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Hydance power by Seasonic - price similar + longer warranty
3 year warranty - woot woot!!
Seasonic HY500CT - RM 170
Seasonic HY600CT - RM191
http://www.lelong.com.my/seasonic-hy600ct-...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Which is better Hydance or FSP?
The real Seasonic is more expensive
*
The low power Hydance is made by Seasonic, > 400 isn't.

If warranty is a concern, Hydance unit is more ideal.

Hi there,

Can anyone suggest me pc that price lower than rm2500?
include normal monitor. This pc just normal use only.
Thanks.
*
Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 792
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 400W - RM 155
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139
BenQ GL2460 - RM 499

Total: RM 2508 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Not sure what you meant by "normal use", if your normal use is basic web browsing, watch movie/video, some job tasks, then 1.5K is enough actually, this build is just to max out your budget.

Just some basic web browsing and watch movie/video.
So if the budget 2500 can't include the graphic card and monitor also?
*
Based on your usage, the internal GPU of the processor is enough, no need to get dedicated low end GPU, it won't give any performance improvement.

A 24 inch BenQ monitor is included in the build just in case you missed it nod.gif

Let say if this rig for multimedia purpose and sometime play some game like d2 it that still no need graphic card?
*
If it is also for gaming then yes, you need a dedicated GPU, but you never state it in the beginning so I didn't include it.

Updated the build.

Intel Core i3 4170 - RM 486
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220
PowerColor R9 270 2GB GDDR5 TurboDuo - RM 550
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139
BenQ GL2460 - RM 499

Not sure whether this is the right place to ask but the monitor thread seems a little dead for my liking.

Am in a little dilemma now.

I have 2 23" Dell monitors, capable of displaying full HD.

I'm thinking whether should I go for another 23" Dell or a 27" curved Dell monitor?

Budget's around MYR 1,000 but it could be upgraded at moment's notice. Just rather keep it to lowest since MYR's not rising fast enough currently.

Thanks!

Sidenote : It's unlikely I'll use 3 of them for gaming. It's more for productivity where I can open multiple excel sheets and watch my youtube and drama on the other screen.

2. My GPU has no issues displaying 3 monitors.

3. Would prefer the Dell as it has built in speakers. I don't have any external speakers.
*
Some Dell monitors don't have internal speaker, like U2414H.

If the 27 inch Dell is 1440p, then I'll go for it but if it is still 1080p, then nope for me.

AMD's Radeon + i3 not a good match at least not to run GTA V not sure if it will apply to D2.
Currently looking PC to run GTA V and though you guys might be interested.

look at the graphs below link, better to get a GTX 750 ti for the same price
else get an i5, seems not much difference for i7 in GTA V

I would think D2 would not be as intense as GTA V, and a less graphics card probably do the job.
Have to google for to find out.

"
At this point, it's no real secret that Nvidia's driver eats up less processor time than the AMD equivalent - something that's crucially important on lower-end PCs with less capable CPUs. This is important. AMD's Radeon R9 270X is an excellent card - almost 40 per cent more powerful in GTA 5 than the GTX 750 Ti in a quad-core system, and only a few pounds more expensive than the 750 Ti when it's on sale. However, on a dual-core Core i3 system, the stutter is extreme and minimum frame-rate isn't just lower than the GTX 750 Ti, it's lower than the R7 260X too. AMD makes some excellent hardware, but until the DX11 driver issue is resolved, we can only recommend Nvidia cards for PCs with lower-end CPUs.

For Dota 2, i3 is enough.

It's 1080p sadly.

4k curve so far, only LG, Sammy and BenQ has?

But they cost too much esp with the price of ringgit nowadays.
*
Dell has one curve monitor but it is ultrawide 21:9 3440x1440, quite expensive though, 4.3k+/-.

If want to try curved panel < 1k, there is a Samsung IPS curved monitor, S24E510CSX, 1080p panel.

hi, i have several offers from different merchant these few days so i would like to ask for opinion on which one looks to be the best value, or i should keep looking.
im looking for cpu + mobo + ram + optional cpu cooler (as from my previous post, other parts are recycling old build since graphic is not my main concern). other than some casual games that are not worth mentioning, i figured i want an acceptable experience editing 4k gopro footage as my current i7 quad core laptop is awful at doing it. its just some hiking/ski videos but they take forever to load on my laptop. owh also, i wish to stream on twitch some time in the future so hopefully my pc can handle that too.

ASROCK B85 Pro4 RM359
G.SKILL AEGIS 2x4GB RM210
=RM 1360
i5 6500 + H170/B150 + 8GB DDR4
= RM1700 (terence's suggestion)
msi Z97S SLI Krait Edition rm529
Core™ i7-4790K rm1510

asus Z97M-PLUS rm445

Which i7 your laptop is currently using? If it is a HQ version and not U version then I think you better go i7 also for desktop, because HQ version is 4 cores 8 threads CPU, the i5 I recommended is 4 cores 4 threads only, even though the desktop Skylake i5 might be slightly powerful than the i7 you have in your laptop due to higher frequency and newer technology, but still lack of hyperthreading.

not U version. it was ivy bridge i7-3520, supposingly one of the better laptop cpu when it came out 3-4 years ago. so should i go canyon or skylake?
*
Checked, it is a dual core i7 (2C4T), just like the desktop i3 (2C4T), so desktop i5 (4C4T) is definitely stronger than it, but 4K resolution isn't a resolution that can be handled easily by any CPU nowadays yet. I'll recommend you to go for i7 (4C8T) instead. Either Haswell (Devil's Canyon) or Skylake is fine, if budget can fit Skylake i7 then choose Skylake, if cannot then just pick Haswell. Performance difference is not huge.

If you are not going to overclock,

Intel Core i7 6700 + H170/B150 + 8GB DDR4 = ~ RM 2k

or

Intel Xeon E3 1231 V3 + H97/B85 + 8GB DDR3 = ~ RM 1.7k [Use this only if you have dedicated GPU because this Xeon doesn't have iGPU]

or

Intel Core i7 4790 + H97/B85 + 8GB DDR3 = ~ RM 1.9k

All the CPUs above come with stock cooler and are 4 cores 8 threads.

hi terence,

1 last question, sorry im so noob.

GeForce GT620
i3 2120 3.30GHz
Gigabyte H61M-S2P
4gb RAM
GIgabyte 420W
23inch monitor.
cm 311 (casing)

<-- i feel the cpu temperature is quite high when i play dota2. probably 70-80dcelcius. i have to open the case to cool the cpu (when i do not on the aircond).
sometimes i blast my aircond just to cool my cpu.

if i upgrade to
GPU : GTX 750
RAM : add 4gb ram.

would the cpu get hot as well? im afraid it goes too hot. hmm.gif
*
You can get a 3rd party cooler like CM TX3 EVO to solve the issue, can reduce up temp to 10°C and more.

I've changed my mind & would like to upgrade the whole CPU instead. Current CPU (except for HDD) will give to my sister.
Budget up to RM~3,500 - 4,000.

What would be the suggestion for power supply, casing, & DVDrom (for installing OS only)
Note: I usually don't off my pc so cooling must be decent. (room no aircon as well)
*
Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 859
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Palit GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Jetstream - RM 1399
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 409
Seasonic M12II 620W - RM 380
Asus DVD-RW SATA ODD - RM 59
Bitfenix NOVA - RM 149

Total: RM 3953 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

As for cooling, stock cooler should be fine with locked i5, if you are not satisfied with the temperature, then only get a 3rd party air cooler.

You can add few extra casing fans if you want to, the case comes with 1 rear fans only if I am not mistaken.

You can remove the DVD ROM because OS can be installed via USB nowadays, use the RM 59 to get more fans better thumbup.gif

currently looking at Benq EW2440L and Acer G247HYL and still cannot decide which one to go.. need some push, haha.. hence need advise from sifu here..

Can consider other brand? Like Dell? S2316H is not a bad choice also, just slightly expensive than the two you mentioned nod.gif

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right thread..  hmm.gif

Please recommend me best value/performance external HDD (2.5 size). Looking for 1TB with budget ~RM300. Been aiming at WD Passport Ultra for a while.. any other models should be considered?
*
Seagate Backup Plus Slim is using 5900 RPM disk if I am not mistaken, not really sure on this, if yes then it will be slightly faster than WD's 5400 RPM.

Try google around to get the answer.

Heavy in gaming? If yes, 2nd build is better with GTX970 and Xeon E3 1231 V3 isn't too far away from i7 6700 also.

1st and 2nd build also similar except 1st build is Skylake instead of Haswell but 1.4k difference is huge, I'll go for 2nd build if I were you, save money and enough for gaming.

Guys, IdealTech personnel recommended me this spec for my budget PC [RM 3000 - RM 3500]:

Recommended specs :

INTEL CORE I5-4460 RM789
ASROCK B85M HDS RM315
G.SKILL AEGIS 8GB DDR3 1600mhz RM209
PALIT GTX970 Single Fan 4GB DDR5 256BIT RM1399

FREE UPGRADE VOUCHER FOR RM50
FREE Kaspersky Internet Security Version 2016 (Pre-installed)Worth RM80
Total and GST Included  3359

Can you guys recommend me another specs with the same amount of budget ?
*
More or less will be the same, i5 + GTX970.

Most probably can get Skylake (6th gen), I'll try and see how it goes.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 855
ASRock B150M-HDV D4 - RM 399
GSkill NT 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 249
Palit GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1399
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 199
In-Win 703 - RM 179

Total: RM 3499 (Idealtech price inclusive of GST)

It seems like you can afford Skylake with your budget, not sure why they are pushing you to previous gen, even though I know the performance difference between them is not huge, but you do get the latest hardware and the so-called "little" improvements by going Skylake right? thumbup.gif

That's what I thought at first. Why not they recommend me the skylake. Maybe because they want to suggest the specs that falls in between the price range I have given. Not maxed the price range. Maybe. Hehe.

May I know what's the difference between the GPU you recommended and also the GPU they recommended. I don't understand what it means by reference in the GPU name.
*
They are same actually, I used "reference" because the card is a reference card with reference design by nvidia and reference PCB (the board with all the memory and capacitors etc.) too. Because "reference" card is using single blower fan, so they can call it as "single fan" version as well.

Non-reference card means the design, cooler and sometimes the PCB are all custom made by the manufacturers, the most obvious one is the card design and cooler, you can add RM 100 to get the Palit non reference card which they call it "Jetstream" (card series name, different brand has different card series name) which runs slightly cooler than reference card and having higher potential in overclocking (if you want to overclock).

Hi, If i want my desktop to connect to the wifi instead of direct connection via cable what do i need to get ? Any recommendations ? Would it affect online gaming, etc ?
*
Either USB WiFi adapter or PCI-E WiFi adapter. USB one is cheaper but reliability is lower than PCI-E one.

If your router/modem is close to you, then difference between LAN cable and WiFi is very small, just minor latency difference, if signal is weak (meaning you are far from the router/modem), then you gonna suffer with packet lost.

May I know your current motherboard brand so I can give recommendation based on the slot and size available?

Haha. What a noob question on my side. Thank you for explaining it back to me. May I ask what's the point of overclocking the GPU? And one more thing, Idealtech won't provide me any OS unless I request for it at which eventually it will increase my budget, am I right?
*
Overclock GPU to gain more frame rate and performance.

Idealtech will install the trial version of Windows to test the rig, but you need to buy the key yourself to get it activated.

Budget is low.

Intel Core i3 4170 - RM 486
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220
FSP Hexa+ 400W - RM 155

Total: RM 1090 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

The RM 200 left is quite hard to get a new dedicated GPU that is more powerful than the iGPU of the i3 for now. Increase budget if possible, i3 isn't really enough for Adobe software.
