Hi all, recommend me some specs to upgrade.

[Budget]2K - 2.5K

[Purpose]Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use]Using back: Corsair 540,SSD & Harddisk,600W & dvd

[Monitor resolution]using samsung 4k UHD

[Games & softwares that use frequently]none

[Personal preferences]maybe i7 with either 8GB ram or 16GB

[Location]KL
*
Oh 4K UHD resolution, but there isn't a GPU that can handle 4K smoothly now so you need to game at 1080p/1440p for now.

i7 isn't possible because i7 will take your 50% of the available budget and make the rest of the parts look awful.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 859
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Sapphire R9 380 4GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 1009

Total: RM 2566 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Make sure your 600W PSU is providing real 600W icon_idea.gif

Got slight changes.

motherboard got any asus brand recommend instead of MSI ? or MSI is better?
for ram how about corsair?
if i don't want sapphire. GTX any model ?
*
Asus is expensive, minimum RM 650 for their H170 board which is not cost efficient, they haven't release any DDR4 based B150 board here, all of them are DDR3 based.

And about RAM, if you are going for Corsair so-called "gaming" RAM, then you need to sacrifice other parts because those RAMs are expensive but in return, you get nothing because you cannot take advantage of the high frequency if you are not going for a Z170 board.

Your budget can fit mostly GTX960 only which is weaker than R9 380.

As for cooling system, stock cooler works fine, you don't have extra budget for 3rd party cooler either anyway unless you expand your budget.

Thank you terence biggrin.gif
i dont need the case, so maybe i can remove it and add another ringgit for SSD biggrin.gif
and in the future, should i get water cooling system or just leave it be?
*
Alright removed the case and added SSD.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 859
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 409
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 289
Palit GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1345
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 229
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189

Total: RM 3545 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

I'll suggest just leave it be because stock cooler runs fine on that locked i5, as for GPU, because it is a reference card, temperature will be slightly higher than other non reference models, so if you are not satisfied with the temperature and want to apply water cooler, just grab a NZXT Kraken G10 + water cooler AIO, but you're warned, it is not cheap laugh.gif

Minor over budget, but still acceptable I think laugh.gif

Intel Core i7 6700K - RM 1476
ASRock Z170 Extreme 4 - RM 810
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 269

Total: RM 2555 (E-tech price inclusive of GST)

You need to find a cooler for this i7 because it doesn't come with Intel HSF (stock cooler), so if you don't have any cooler available now then you need to expand your budget sweat.gif

[Monitor resolution] not small than 21"

Thanks all for helping smile.gif

Not sure what game you are going to play, if it is basic and casual game then iGPU which comes with the CPU should be enough.

Hi all, appreciate any suggestion given.  notworthy.gif

[Budget] Less than 3k

[Purpose] Moderate gaming, movies and work

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor (1920 x 1080)

[Monitor resolution] Nil.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota 2, blade & soul, auto cad, Final Fantasy XIII & XIII 2, Final Fantasy Type 0

[Personal preferences] Intel & Nvdia.

[Location] Klang Valley.

With the budget allowed is it possible to get a I5 with DDR4 and GTX 970?  tongue.gif
*
Skylake i5 (DDR4) + GTX970 requires at least 3.5K.

This is Haswell i5 + GTX970 build, slightly more than 3K. If you don't mind going to few shops to hunt for the cheapest items, then you can probably lower down the cost to nearly 3K by maintaining this specs, but then it requires time and energy, as well as petrol and toll fees if you drive, choice is yours nod.gif

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 795
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220
Palit GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1325
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 3122 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

If want to keep below 3K, downgrade the GPU to GTX960 (cheapest is RM 799), the rest of the budget can be used for Skylake i5 (DDR4) if you want.

Nope, not Autocad. More onto MATLAB.
Are there any other suggestions ?
RM 2094 still can can la give or take few 100s .  tongue.gif
And oh the all of the chassis are the same right ? I mean in terms of hardware compartments .
*
Not the same, there are 3 mainstream form factors in the market, ATX, mATX and mITX.

Common one is ATX, a full size standard ATX mobo for maximum RAM/PCI-E slots and other features, normally ranked 2nd cheapest option to build a rig.

Next one is mATX, m stands for micro, it is smaller than ATX, some mATX comes with 2 RAM slots, some are 4 RAM slots, cheapest in the market (for low end mobo).

Last one is mITX, m stands for mini. Smallest mobo you can find in normal consumer market but it is expensive due to its size and production factor. Only comes with 2 RAM slots and 1 PCI-E slots, some mid/high end mITX boards have another 1 mini PCI-E slots for WiFi/Bluetooth adapter.

Yours is mATX mobo but the case is ATX. ATX can fit all 3 form factors.

Gigabyte H61M-S2P

GIgabyte 420W
23inch monitor.

guys, i wanted to change my GPU.
is it possible to get some better GPU compatible with my rig above?
i need full resolution 1900x1080(max setting) ; DOTA2...

is sapphire r7 250 boost RM 349 good?
or sapphire r7 250x RM 379
*
If you can spare another RM 100, go for GTX750, new Reborn client requires better GPU actually even though Valve did say they made optimization for low end GPU.

QUOTE(quest_5692 @ Oct 24 2015, 01:10 AM)
hi,

i did some homework myself but im totally new in building a pc so i need some help.

background. i have leftover msi gtx 660, corsair vx450w, ssd 256gb, monitor 1x, pc tower 1x.

i would like to complete a pctower with 2-3k. so the elephant in the room is, skylake or not? skylake processors come with similar power/price as their predecessor however their compatible motherboard cost more because of compatibility to ddr4.

comparing price on jayacom's pricelist, with low 2ks i can hit 4790 or 6600. nearing 3k i can get 6700. is it true?

i will be expecting to buy a cpu, motherboard (z97 or z170), 8gb ram (ddr3/4), perhaps a 500gb hdd. can someone come up with suggested build?

edit: i should include the purpose of this pc. nothing intensive, i just want a troublefree experience using computer. i'm too busy/old for trendy games already.
*
i5 is enough for your usage.

You stated Z97/Z170 so I assume you know the reason by going Z series board, so with 2k you cannot get 4790K, 4790K leftover stock should be around RM 1350 + decent Z97 board RM 650 + 8GB DDR3 RM 200 is more than 2k already.

My personal recommendation is,

Intel Core i5 6500 + H170/B150 + 8GB DDR4

This will cost you roughly 1.7k which is sufficient for your usage.

I see.. I did a quick run through of Skylake components (LGA 1151 Mobo, CPU, DDR4) and it seems to cost a lot more $$$ than I expected.

Oh well, have to change my PSU then and see if it works.

My current PSU is a Cooler Master GX 650W - any good PSU recommendations? Was thinking of getting another CM (or Corsair).
*
Get Seasonic, what Seasonic offers in their PSU is much better in terms of internal components than CM/Corsair's PSU at same price range (for low/mid end PSU).

Hey guys, recommendation for a low-end desktop good enough to run LoL/Dota2/CSGO for cybercafe usage. Let's put budget at around RM1200~1500. Possible? biggrin.gif
*
Include monitor? If yes then nope, budget too low, you will end up with a rig that can run those games at between 30 - 60 FPS only, not really enjoyable for your customers unless they don't care about it.

This build cannot guarantee stable 60 FPS so you can imagine what will happen if budget is < 1.5K.

Intel Pentium G3250 - RM 229
ASRock H81M-VG4 - RM 219
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 189
Sapphire R7 250 2GB GDDR5 - RM 349
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 400W - RM 129
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 149
BenQ GW2255 - RM 379
Logitech MK100 Wired Combo - RM 49

Total: RM 1911 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

Will use Haswell (4th gen) instead of Skylake (6th gen) due to budget limitation.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 785
Asus H81M-K - RM 229
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220

leadtek gtx750 2gb VS gainward gtx750 1gb...
may i know alot different in this?

another thing is that, everytime i ON dota2, when i use alt tab, it is slow and the memory almost 80% or higher..
im currently on 4gb ram...
i thinking of adding another 4gb..
what is the differnt between normal 4gb and perfomance 4gb?
can i mix it? i think mine now is normal 4gb..
*
The difference is obvious, 1GB vs 2GB. If you have spare money for 2GB, go for it. Dota 2 Reborn client max settings on 1080p takes nearly 1GB VRAM nowadays, so 2GB is more future proof just in case Valve update the graphics again next time.

As for RAM, value RAM will do, your current RAM is which model?

Either open the case and check the RAM model or download something like CPU-Z, sometimes CPU-Z won't provide full RAM info.
