Will use Haswell (4th gen) instead of Skylake (6th gen) due to budget issue.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 830
Asus H81M-K - RM 240
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 220
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90310-10M - RM 819
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Bitfenix NOVA - RM 149
BenQ GW2255 - RM 390

Total: RM 3062 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Little over budget, hopefully you are ok with it  sweat.gif

As for speaker, just grab those cheap one like Edifier M1250 (~RM 40).

is it worth to get the new skylake xeon e3 series instead of skylake i7 for gaming?
last few year ago , i see ppl are recommend the xeon processor , is it worth to go for skylake xeon series if i dont OC. is it still the same performance as i7?

Yes, the Xeon E3 1230 V5 is basically a lower clock speed of i7 6700 (same base clock but different boost clock) and no iGPU (not a problem if you have dedicated GPU), but unfortunately Skylake Xeon E3 is not released here yet.

If you can wait then it is worth the wait but of course you need to top up some money in order to upgrade to Xeon CPU from i5.

"a i7 few core"? Not fully understand, I assume you mean do we need i7 if only gaming.

Well, it depends on your budget, if budget allows, surely the i7 is more future proof, we have seen quite a few latest titles are using the extra threads of i7 already, for example Fallout 4 and the currently most CPU demanding single player game, AC: Syndicate.

I tested AC: Syndicate on i5 4460 and i7 6700K, it turned out that i5 is somehow suffering from CPU bottleneck, CPU usage is constantly 90% and above for all cores, sometimes it even hit 100% for all cores, this causes issues like mouse lag/delay. This could be a poor optimization from Ubisoft (they are well known for poor PC port afterall  laugh.gif ), but rest assured, open world games tend to draw more CPU power compared to other genre games.

If you are more towards this type of games, get an i7 is highly encouraged.

Your budget can fit i5 + GTX960/R9 380 at most, running max graphics settings with this GPU with mostly yield < 60 FPS, medium/high settings is more FPS friendly, of course they can run max/ultra settings, but you might face unstable FPS and screen tearing.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 876
MSI B150M Bazooka D4 - RM 399
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90306-10M - RM 840
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 225
Seasonic M12II EVO 520W - RM 349
Bitfenix NOVA - RM 149

Total: RM 3038 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

Clear explanation, if get 500 more, what will you recommend?

By adding RM 500, you can upgrade the GPU to GTX970.

You can try a balanced approach and get a SSD instead. HyperX Fury 120GB is RM 218, the remaining money use to upgrade from GTX 960 (RM 840) to a R9 380X 4GB (RM 1140).

You can also beef up the power supply, from Seasonic M12II EVO 520W - RM 349 to a Seasonic S12G 550w RM 387.

LGA1151 is socket, Z170/H170/B150/H110 is Skylake chipset, Xeon is also using LGA1151 socket but only C236 Skylake chipset is supported.

What a sad news, Intel fixed the "exploit" sad.gif

Oops, yea, the socket is the same, just the chipset not support, thanks for clearing it up notworthy.gif

Yea... that is why my heart and hope sank after Intel dropped the bomb,
wasted so much time wait till GST + weak RM, and in the end... have to pay more for the same i7 cry.gif

not to mention all other parts also increased in price... unfortunate at its finest doh.gif

Base clock increase of 0.5GHz is quite worth compared to previous gen with just 0.2GHz increase over a significant amount of money.

Around RM 30 - RM 50.

You can buy VGA/DVI to HDMI adapter if the cost is too expensive.

With 3k budget, it is very hard to include a monitor > 22 inch.
