Rig local shop suggest to me,
I5 6500
Msi z170A krait gaming
Gtx 960 4gb
1tb hdd
2133mhz 8gb ram
Thermaltake evo blue 2.0 650w

Want to ask whether above psu a good psu?
*
As st4Lk3rz said, no need Z170, H170 is fine or even B150 ones are enough without extra features you might not use.

GTX 960 4GB??? Everywhere I look in lelong, this is 1k to 1.1k, definitely not a good choice when R9 380X 4GB is just RM 1140. Or you can go with a normal GTX 960 2GB, RM 830, and the money saved, get a HyperX Fury 120GB for RM 217.30. biggrin.gif

Try to get a Seasonic PSU, like SeaSonic Power Supply S12G GOLD 650W (S12G-650) EM 466.40 or Seasonic Power Supply M12II BRONZE 620W (SS-620GM2) RM 381.60.

Clear explanation, if get 500 more, what will you recommend?
*
You can try a balanced approach and get a SSD instead. HyperX Fury 120GB is RM 218, the remaining money use to upgrade from GTX 960 (RM 840) to a R9 380X 4GB (RM 1140).

You can also beef up the power supply, from Seasonic M12II EVO 520W - RM 349 to a Seasonic S12G 550w RM 387.

thanks for the suggestion!
thanks! erm.. is it better to buy another cpu cooler than using the stock cooler? Also, where to buy this rig if I choose your suggestion?
also, i got this quote from another retailer..any opinions or advice(especially on meeting the budget requirements) ?

*
Hi, you can just use the stock cooler. It's just a personal preference, a PC with such a budget deserve a better/quieter cooling solution.

You can try contacting ETechPC and CastleIT on facebook to give you quotations. They should have most, if not all models listed.

You can also browse the components on Lelong.

On that quote;

intel core i7-6700 = RM 1378
* ETechPC is only RM 1319

asus maximus viii ranger mainboard = RM 1077
* You don't need a Z170 board.

corsair vengeance lpx 16gb (8gb x2) = RM 482
* Probably don't need 16GB, and Corsair brand are slightly more expensive also.

samsung 850evo 240gb ssd = RM 445
* You can save RM 60-70 from choosing a HyperX Fury 240GB, with not noticeable difference in normal performance.

asus gtx970 4gb dcu ii strix graphic card = RM 1899
* Asus brand carries a huge premium in Malaysia market, just how it is here. Best get a plainer version.

corsair 600c atx casing = RM 640
* Again, Corsair case is overpriced, you can get quality ones from Phanteks/Fractal Design/NZXT for less.

corsair rm750i power supply = RM 713
* 750W is overkill, Corsair are overpriced, you only need 550w. Just get a Seasonic G-Series 550w or 650w and save a few hundred.

total = RM 6634 ( its over budget)

I still stand by my recommendation earlier. Oh, might want to include a copy of Windows in your budget.

Hi, since your budget is 3k, quoted above is only 2813. You may want to use the balance RM 187 to get a better PSU. Seasonic S12G 550W 80+ Gold is RM 385.

QUOTE(warchylde @ Dec 10 2015, 03:02 PM)
Hi guys and Sifus!

I have more or less decided on my choice build. (thanks to guidance and advice from vandoren and  terence_nwb  thumbup.gif ).
Just wanted to put it out here for more opinions and advice!

From Idealtech:

CPU: INTEL CORE I7 6700 (4 CORE/ 8 THREADS/4.0GHZ) = RM 1325
CPU COOLER: CRYORIG H7 (145MM) = RM189
MOBO: GIGABYTE H170-GAMING 3 = RM539
RAM: GSKILL RipjawsV RED 2x4GB DDR4 2400mhz (CL15) = RM329
GPU: EVGA GTX970 ACX 2.0+ (Dual BIOS) 4GB DDR5 256Bit (1178/7010) = RM1599
PSU: Seasonic S12II-620 EVO (80+Bronze/ Non Modular) = RM299
CASE: Sharkoon BW9000 (BLACK) = RM299
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB = RM509

TOTAL: RM5088 ( slightly over-budget but I can live with it whistling.gif )

I'm gonna reuse my keyboard+mouse, monitor, optical drive, and a few SATA HDDs.

So, what do you guys think?
I have until this weekend to confirm my choice. icon_question.gif

PS: Since I'm most likely ordering from Idealtech and I'm not going back to KL until Tuesday next week, is it beter to confirm order now or wait till last minute? ( in case of further price drops brows.gif )
*
Get single stick of 8GB ram instead of 2x4GB Ram.

Idealtech have a higher price than others but that comes with aftersales services. Choice is yours.

Prices out KL is usually higher.
*
Oh yes, Ipoh price is often a markup of RM 40-50. Hence I normally buy stuff online, more selection as well.

But within KL also, some are cheaper. Most of the time I browse Lelong, prices of CastleIT and ETechPC are mostly cheaper, even than the Lowyat pricelist.

Like ; i7 6700,

CastleIT : RM 1374.82
ETechPC : RM 1319
TechView: RM 1389

etc, etc.
