don't know what to make out of the budget except that with major fiscal spending to drive growth, mas will not be mucking around with ex change rates to ease interest rates.
SGD probably will stay strong for now. QUOTE “A contractionary fiscal policy stance, while not our base case, would have raised the probability of an exchange rate policy easing move by the MAS in April,” said Michael Wan, an economist at Credit Suisse Group AG in Singapore. “These risks did not materialize.” http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/201...-pillars-falter |

Mkt is closed today in Sgp for Good Friday.
Anyone feels that the mkt seems to be turning around after a dip due to the Brussels bombing ? |

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Mar 25 2016, 09:30 AM) Hans Prophet,... if you are right,... then it is worth waiting, if you are not,... then we will be missing out on divvy payouts. My opinion is the earlier we buy, the earlier we start to collect the dividends. This time round, it's a managed slowdown by TPTB....keep pumping money into the markets......till........... 08/09 took them by surprise as financial cock up. This time its an economic problem which may usher in a financial crisis. the handbrakes are on and near worn out. Otherwise Feds would have raise rates without even blinking. There are investors who keep waiting and waiting for the price to drop,... but,........ the drop never came. It became even worse if the price goes up instead,... this has happened to me personally. In the process of waiting, and never actually buying, the chances for dividend collection is missed. The money reserved for buying the REITs then did not yield any sizeable returns. |

QUOTE(prince_mk @ Mar 25 2016, 01:25 PM) Hello Hansel YES - the taxation initiatives in yesterday's budget is definitely beneficial to investors. Across the board, taxes have been lowered. Companies will have more money to invest, individuals will have more disposable income for investment purposes. This will make the SGX more vibrant, which in turn , benefit foreign investors further.Share with us your top 5 holding Very keen to follow you. Keppel Corp dropped to 5.86 can topup? Gov tax on dividend benefiting foreign investors? Secondly, some taxes which were 'brought-up for discussion' by some opposition members earlier were not implemented - okay. Top holdings :- 1) Parkway Life REIT. 2) First REIT. 3) Singpost. 4) Starhub. 5) Fraser Centrepoint Trust. Please check the yield before replicating the holdings into our portfolio, because my Buy Prices are very low, though I have averaged-UP over the years. KepCorp - can BUY,... |

It's what i observe about the nature of the mechanism of the deflation of market. So, in 08/09 we see a V or U recovery This time round we may see a L recovery.......long drawn one i am buying for dividends as long as they meet my targets |
