Thinking of getting some for this share.  However, not aware need to fill in the form.

a) Is it mandatory to fill in the form?
b) We will be tax 30% if no fill form?
c) Currently my savings account is in SG$, so I only can only choose to buy in SG$ (convert USD to SG)?
d) If I want to buy in USD I need to open a multi currency account?
e) Which is better, to buy in SG or USD?
*
To get exemption pls fill up d form.

I sign up for US Sg and HK market. U may transfer within these acc. No need have special foreign currency acc.

Replies,... Cherry :-

a) and b) YES, please do so asap for them to record our name, and also fill it in correctly !

c) and e) Yes, you can buy in the SGD, but the outlook for the USD is better today, so, for myself, I'd prefer to buy in USD.

d) Use Prince's way, open a Stanchart Trading Acct, and activate the USD Settlement and Trading Accts. This is the fastest way !
*
Yes. I activated USD settlement acc. D most cheapest way to invest in us shares. I had started investing in this reit.

Thanks alot for your guide, Hansel.

Errr, bro, not exactly the cheapest way,... you need to have USD2000 sitting inside the USD FCY Savers Account, in order not to incur the fall below fee,... unless,...you have a tactic,...
*
Sifu,

I park my fund in esaver savings and transfer to Sgd settlement acc. When I wish to buy usd shares, I transfer frm Sg settlement acc to USD settlement acc. Should I sign up USD FCY savers account ? Any ninja trick can share

Ahh,.. yes, your trick is in itself,.. a ninja trick as well,.... rclxms.gif  Using your way, you don't need to park USD2k inside a USD FCY savers acct,....  rclxms.gif

However,... do you think with all the impending development,... the USD will appreciate against the SGD in future ?
*
Sifu,

I m not too sure. Got to check those who are well versed. Personally a hearsay said US will go up but Sg will link to US performance. So, I think I wont go wrong by putting funds in USD and SGD instruments.

Can I say I wont get lost by following you guys. Hahahaha. Dont bring me to Holland.

Pertaining to the rising US interest rates, Manulife has this advantage :-

It has a Weighted Average Debt Maturity of 4 Years. Whatever rise in debt interest rate this year or the next will not hit it until 4 years later. This gives it sufficient time to adjust itself to the eventual rise, if truely, the interest rates rises eventually,....

Who knows what will happen further down the road,...
*
Besides Manulife US Reits, any other global reits / international reits denominated in USD that we can consider ?

How abt reits etf - VNQ, RWO etc

Lots of REITs globally denominated in the USD, but the assets may not be in The US. IF the assets are located in the US, and USD rental is earned, then there will be 30% withholding tax. So, better read the term properly, bro,...

Don't know much abt ETFs, staying away from ETFs. It's just me,... with sufficient knowledge and time, I think I can perform better by myself than earning ETF returns.
*
How abt reits that in Canada ? Any other US reits besides Manulife US Reits ? Wish to put in few different funds

Sifu Hansel,

I admire your continuous supports and guidance towards us (newbies). No talk coxk one. Sure will do one. smile.gif

Like u said, try to have few accs in Sg.

What do u think of DBS Multiplier Account, it is an all-in-one account for customers to transact in SGD & Foreign Currencies. Customers have to maintain a minimum average daily balance of SGD$3000 across all currency pockets.

The fall below fee for the DBS Multiplier account is SGD$5.00 per month if the MADB of SGD$3000 is not maintained.

You will enjoy higher interest rates of up to 2.08% per annum (p.a.) on your DBS Multiplier account balances.

I may park in few major currencies with interest paid.

What do u think smile.gif

Mine is simple, just a posb saving account. Basically the purpose of the account is just wait for my monthly pay$ to come in.  icon_rolleyes.gif

A S$2 fall-below fee will apply if your average daily balance for the month falls below S$500

Bro,...this is something that not many people know :-

1) If you opened your Posb or Savingplus account before 2015, your minimumbalance is SGD500 and the fall below fee is : SGD2 per month.

2) If you opened your Posb or Savingsplus account after 2015,, your monimum balance is SGD1000 and the fall below fee is : SGD5 per month,.. or maybe still at SGD2 per month,...can't remember,...

The point here is : the earlier you open yr accounts, the higher the benefits for you.[SIZE=7]

Similar concepts with Stanchart Sgp !

Posb does not allow Msians without EP or WP or SV to open accounts !
*
I fully agree with you boss. Sigh, they are closing the doors to Msian unless you have a deep pocket and carrying a big bag of cash.
