Alright thanks. Just to double check  before I get the confirmation from Peugeot official. Guess I will just send the car to Peugeot service center for the first 3 years then. Heard the claim on their 4th and 5th year warranty is a pain. I already used to DIY anything within my reach for example brakes job, service item replacement, hoses, and etc. I'm kinda new to this engine so might need to explore a little bit more, for example I can't find transmission dipstick, I could only find a torx bolt which is very likely for refill.

BTW, can anyone tell me if there is car paint color code at the pillar or at engine bay? I have yet to collect my car so can't check. Will need to order spray paint to cover some minor scratches ASAP.
Edit: nvm I am able to obtain the color code by calling Peugeot care line.

So how much did you buy the car? So jelly that you got a 2016 car! I looked at so many dealers, all were selling 2012 or 2013 only!

Do you guys feel the headlights are set far too low? Even when I select the highest setting, i can't see more than 5-10m in front. Feels like I always have to keep high beam at every chance I get. Anyone concur?

Hey guys, im considering a peugeot 2014. For a 4.5 years car is it safe to purchase it? I mean what should I expect from this car this age.. trans, engine, air cond compressor issue...etc etc...

Car dealer showed me the service book. warranty left 8 months. How do I verify the warranty status?

If price is right, and body in good condition, just grab it. For typical mechanical issues, send to Peugeot SC right away after you buy while under warranty. Then do recall program which will make your car feel like new. Seriously. It will also further extend your warranty until 2021. I hope you buy the turbo. The 2.0na is far too antique by today standards.

Ya please don't buy the 408 NA. It's considered Dino already. The same 2.0 engine and 4 speed gearbox has been used by PSA for past 2 decades. You might as well just buy an old pug 405/305. It's basically the same car.

Some other advantages of the 1.6thp:
1. Leather seats
2. 6 speed gearbox
3. 17 inch rims
4. 7 years warranty
5. Nice chrome touches to the interior.
6. Slightly more horsepower
7. Massively more torque
8. Firmer suspension
9. Leather wrapped steering wheel
10. Auto dimming rear mirror
11. Rear central arm rest

I've lost count, really. I would have to dig up all my emails to clic over the years.
Off the top of my head, the timing chain broke and practically destroyed the engine, ac cooling coil broke down, high pressure fuel pump, down to small things like the gear knob completely disintegrating. All I remember is I've never driven this car for 2 months without having to bring it into the workshop.

Look, I've got more things to worry about than bringing my car around the state for 2nd or 3rd opinions back and forth. If you can't trust the authorized sc to do the bare minimum, you know there's a problem with the brand.
I've been to renautech and bros, but I can't be driving there and back to the sc every time.

The latest case is the final straw. Not only did they waste my time, and try to make me wait another 6 months for an inspection, they were also rude, and did an utterly unprofessional job at something as simple as topping up engine oil - they forgot to put the cap back on.

Imagine, I had driven my pregnant wife for a distance before we noticed the smell and smoke coming from the engine bay. My pregnant wife had been inhaling engine oil fumes straight from the engine.

I've had the opposite experience. My 2nd hand pug 408 is a dream to own. Never broke down. I've been to SC about 3 times for problems with the car but not to the extent of a breakdown. Once is the cooling coil - got it changed for free. 2nd was the turbo pipe got loose. The car can still drive but underpowered. 3rd was a engine oil leak. But everything got fixed by SC free of charge. It took a bit of effort to find one SC with spare parts in stock so they can fix it right away. For each of the three problems I had to go to three different SC. But I don't mind at all because my expectations were very low when I bought the pug. And so far after over a year driving it, it has wayyy exceeded my expectations. So much better compared to buying a used Jap which is almost twice the price, minimal features, average performance, and not under warranty.

Either your expectations are too high or you didn't educate yourself or just plain unlucky. Maybe a mix of all three.

Maybe my expectations are so high that I shouldn't expect professional mechanics to close the damn engine oil cap after topping up.
Seriously?

Well that's an isolated case. Never happened to anyone else right

I am glad that you enjoyed your experience despite all the problems you mentioned in just over a year.

As for me, there's no excuse for such mistake that potentially caused harm to my wife and her unborn child, and the engine itself.
I have brought the case to the upper management. If nothing comes out of it, I will bring it to the NCCC.

I'm just sharing my experience. It's up to you to go to that SC.
Good luck.

3 problems in the first year of purchasing a 5 year old used car is totally within my expectations. More so for a car that is about half the price of other 5 year old c-segment cars. And it was entirely covered under warranty.

Good day fellow Peugeot owner,

I've been looking around some used car lately and come across 2014 Peugeot 408 turbo still under warranty advertised in mudah asking for 25k. Is it worthy to get?

I have seen some past comment from the forumer discussion about common issue and unreliable authorise service centre on the parts replacement fixes or technicians during downtimes.

I do aware every brand out there does have pros and cons.
But I'm interested to know 408 owner here ownership experience in the recent year? Perhaps from 2017 to 2019?

Heard my ex-colleague horror encounters about the problem which he used to own 308 turbo model and decided sell off the car and get Japanese makes.

Looking forward to heard from you guys, thanks in advance.

I'm still driving my used 408t bought 2 years ago. Runs like new. Never breaks down. But you must take care. Heed maintenance schedule and warning lights. Get things fixed at bros auto, renautech or Clayton.

Of course maintenance will not be cheap. In my first year everything covered by warranty so no expenses incurred but after that I stopped servicing at SC. In last six months, I've had to replace aircond compressor, ac relay switch, absorbers, abs/speed sensors, engine mounting, decarb, windshield side trim rubber, brake disk and pads. About rm6k in 6 months. But still worth it coz I bought it for 31k which is about 15k cheaper than any other c segment sedans in used market at that time with similar mileage and age.

Aside from the pricey wear and tear replacement parts, I don't see any major problems with the car. Turbo still roars like new. Just have to standby rm500 a month for wear and tear fixes if any.

Considering to buy a secondhand Peugeot 408. Do y’all think its a good idea? Is there any common faulty or anything?

Great bargain. Make sure you buy the 1.6thp. Warranty is 7 years. You will make a few trips to the SC to get recalls done and do all the warranty claims then you'll get to enjoy a tip top continental car at half the price of an equivalent japanese

spent a lot on my pug this year.
1. top overhaul 3k+
2. turbo enclosure, vacuum hoses, blow off valve 3k+
3. throttle body 1k+
4. black pastic thingy on top of radiator 1k
5. windscreen replacement (via insurance rm450)
6. battery 350

now forced to keep this car forever after spending such a fortune to replace those new parts.

last year:
1. lower arm 2k
2. absorbers 2k
3. tires 1k
4. 3 x abs sensors 250 each
5. wipers 100+
6. decarbo 600
7. fan relay switch 250

2 years ago:
1. compressor, condensor, etc 2k+
2. 1 abs sensor 250
3. 4 brake disc and pads dun remember price edy

there's some other stuff i'm sure i forgot... but the maintenance cost is growing and growing. now it drives like new although it looks very old (design-wise and car paint-wise). not worth selling this car.. must keep till it dies.
