I just scare that can't mix really well with other races. Of course people will mix more comfortably with own races, but doesn't mean I am not racist I just prefer more Chinese in the environment.

You did your diploma in Melaka and now degree in Cyberjaya?
*
Is not about race or skin colour u know, is about the person and their sense of responsibility. I have seen tons of people complaining and whine regards crappy at MMU Confession assignment / house mates / peers etc etc.

Is Tertiary education is the best time for u to learn how to mingle around and learn. Btw MMU Melaka every corner of the campus there is Chinese people presence wink.gif

Next week I'm going to submit student acceptance forms & a copy of the initial payment at admission office. If possible, I'm going to create an CIMB account for the PTPTN loan. I've called the staff, she said that I need to bring IC and official letter from university for verification. Do I need to print out the offer letter that admission staff attached in the email after paying the admission fees and bring it with me on that day or I need to wait until orientation day?

Also, I'm going to create another personal account. This account I'll be mainly using it as my go-to for buying items online (Amazon, Lazada and etc.). If I going out buying clothing or other items, I want to use a card to pay the price instead of counting money. What bank is the best one to create that kind of account? What account should I create? Is it saving?

Thank you.

Hey, everyone! I'm thinking of taking Foundation in English (FiE) in Multimedia University. I haven't seen or read any topics of FiE being posted before in this forum. I might have missed it but I'll just shoot my questions here.

First of all, let me explain my situation. I recently received my UPU result and I didn't get my first choice program. Instead, I was offered a programme that is so so different compared to my 1st choice dip. So, IPTA is not an option anymore. After searching the internet for the best and affordable English programme, I stumbled upon MMU.

That brings me to my questions:

1. What is your opinion about FiE in MMU? Pros and Cons? Please don't just tell me it's a waste of time without thoroughly explaining the reason.

2. Is MMU expensive even for foundation students?

3. What are the benefits of scoring high CGPA in MMU's foundation studies? Like will I get a scholarship to study a degree?

4. Will a foundation in MMU guarantees someone a place in IPTA considering that that person achieves high CGPA?

5. Have you ever experience studying foundation in MMU especially FiE? Can you tell me what it's like? Is it a good/bad experience? Is it worth it?

6. I noticed that almost everyone talks about Foundation in Law/Engineering/IT etc. But when it comes to FiE discussion, there's only a few or almost none at all.
It's like the foundation is not popular/mediocre. Can you tell me why this is so?

I need alumni or students of FiE to help me, please.

Thank you so much for the time, I appreciate the help.

I am not alumni or students from FiE but i guess able to help you out certain questions u asked in terms of opinions and my point of view.

1. Quite a new course in MMU i presumed, the main question is what you aspire to be? is this course would lead you to do so?
2. Cheaper than alot other private unis i know, but not the cheapest as for sure
3. Yes, you would entitle for Merit scholarship or President scholarship but subject to terms and conditions, can try enquire from them
4. No idea
5. Yes, Foundation in Management leads to Degree in Accounting. Good experience, Worth it? subjective in terms of ur undertakings and financial background and other external factors.
6. It is not a popular programme, MMU seems not promoting it as well. Based on the brochure, course module and career prospects. In my opinion, business undergraduates from MMU or even mass-comm graduates able to land up at that particular career path as written in the brochure. Correct me if I am wrong. biggrin.gif

It is a very new course, only entering it's third trimester iirc so there is no alumni or much info being discussed about it. I did some searching and this is what I can share. It is a course that is specially tailored for the route of Bachelor of Communication (Hons.) (Strategic Communication) in MMU. Hence, I am not sure if you can enter IPTA with the foundation cert; you may need to check with the various IPTA whether they recognize the cert or not.

I have no comment on the cost as it's subjective. Have a look at the fee structure and then measure it's affordability within your means. Living cost is ok but Cyberjaya is Cyberjaya. As posted above, there are scholarships awarded for students with high pointers.

My suggestion is, to know what career that you want to pursue. It appears that you are really keen with this course, so I guess you are already aware that this leads to career prospects like: Career Prospects: Corporate Communication Professional, Media Writer, Advertising and Sales Promotion Executive,
Strategic Communication Programme Personnel, Corporate Communication Officer, Public Information Officer, Media
Broadcaster, Communication Adviser, Public Relations Personnel, Publicity Consultant.

I would suggest you to come to MMU during its open day on 23-24 June to get a feel of the campus and speak to the academic advisors.

Try to contact the person below for further info or to see if she can point you to the correct person in charge:

Thanks! You're the first person who truthfully n seriously answers the question.

Yea, I did guess that maybe the programme is not popular at all plus its new right. I just wanted some confirmations.

Actually, my plan is to take a degree in either English/Linguistic in IPTA after the foundation in MMU. I did plan on not taking any programme from IPTS because of money problem but my UPU result disappoints and so I had to take foundation in IPTS because I would have to wait many more months for the whole UPU result/interview process again.

Hello, I didn't expect you to reply my message so fast. I really appreciate it!

I'm not 100% sure what career I want to pursue but what I know is that I have a high interest in the study of language. My first choice in UPU was Dip in English Prof. Comm. but I got Script Writing. I thought maybe I should just go with the flow and not be picky because time is of the essence here but after doing much research, the offered programme is mostly taught in BM (screenplays esp). That's the most frustrating thing plus it's for 2.5 years.

Rather than waiting again to apply for the next Sem of Dip in EPC which is next year in March, I made the decision to just take any IPTS foundation or diploma that's related to English (affordable ones). And then after my foundation studies, I'll try applying for an English degree in any IPTA. That's my plan really and I'm not even sure.

But, after reading your post I still have a lot more work to do it seems. I'll be sure to contact the various IPTA. I just realized that it's important, thanks. I do hope that it's recognized though. And ty too for the contact info.

Since you intend to continue at IPTA, so it is critical to be 100% sure that they accept the cert. Do share your findings.

Good luck!

I'm going to study at MMU starting July. Where's the good accommodation to live around Cyberjaya? If possible the one that take less time to get to MMU by walking. The price must not be ridiculously expensive

Also, what other things that I need to take note before starting studying there?

1. What is your definition of not ridiculously expensive?

Most MMU students that don't have their own transport live at The Arc, or Cyberia as these two neighboorhoods are the nearest to MMU.

2. Prepare your mental to wear student ID all the time when you're in campus tongue.gif

1. By this I mean the price is reasonable for what I'm paying for. What's the best way to find an empty room?

2. What do you think of overall students that're staying there? Are they mostly consist of good students? I know this might be impossible to do but if possible, I want to live with housemates that doesn't smoke, know how to make the unit that I'm living with them clean and will not cause much trouble for me.

3. Is it a must to wear it everyday? Can you change the card picture that you submit before the registration day later on? Right now i don't have a choice but to submit my not so good looking picture because the deadline is today.

4. What do I need to prepares before registration day? Can you wear t-shirt? Or is it one of those event where student must wear collar shirts?

Another thing that I'm not sure that I should worried about or not. Recently at MMU Confession Page, there's some debate about SRC. Will it have some effect when I study there or I'm just being paranoid here?

If possible can someone who know about the situation give TLDR about it? Thanks.

Last thing, can anyone who have lived at MMU hostel (Cyberjaya) give me details about the place? Is it comfortable to live in? Is the room too small? Any other information are welcomed. In the website, they only give you 2 option :

-Twin Sharing
-Triple Sharing

Are there option for private room? I want to live by my own and don't want to share room with other person because of privacy.

Sorry for asking alot of question.

@Human Nature
I'll keep in mind to share the info here once I'm done researching and all that. Thx!

Anyways, what's the max amount of PTPTN loan for foundation students? Some say it's Rm 8000 and then another says it's Rm 6000+. I'm confused.

Oh and another thing is if I have paid the Enrolment fee = Rm520, how many days or weeks until I'll receive the offer letter?

Thanks. biggrin.gif

EDIT:
Already found out about the PTPTN loan.

There's no single room in the hostel. If you want a private room, you can rent a room at Cyberia (closer walking distance) or The Arc for around RM 400 per month. Try find good deals in the Cyberjaya marketplace on FB, cause you can get 400 with utilities (electricity, water, internet).

Hello, fellows.

I got the offer letter yesterday and I'm so happy! But, there's so much to do.

I was informed that I need to pay the Healthcare Insurance, MSIG before registration day. It's not stated in my offer letter but on the website, https://admis-accept.mmu.edu.my.

Is the insurance mandatory? Will I not be able to register on the day if I didn't subscribe to the insurance?

Furthermore, there's an instruction on the website above that requires me to upload a passport-sized photo for my Smart Card.
Can it be any photos (appropriate ones) as long as it's passport-sized? For instance, no blue background or/and stoned face?

Oh and one more thing, who should I really contact regarding the hostel accommodation? Any tips about the hostel? I've heard/read many negative comments about the On-Campus hostel but I've decided to stay there during my foundation year.

Thank you! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
