Not sure if other bank card is same

MCC assigned to the merchant's nature of business, not for the issuing bank/card you're using.

How come MCC can be flipped from one to another so easily?

6012 -> 6540-> 6012

6012 is safer than 6540 (possibility to reclassify prepaid card / quasi-cash issue).
Maybe Bigpay changes the acquiring bank!

How did you manage to find out the changes so quickly?

Reload this morning and call PBB CS right after reload.

reload my remaining unused PBB cards, then call CS immediately to find out

did u guys always check the mcc before u swipe? who assign mcc to each merchant?

u cannot check mcc BEFORE before you swipe. MCC is only known after a swipe at the merchant.

bank assign the mcc to merchant according to nature of business.

anyone know harvey norman is what MCC?

Few months it was MCC 6012 and everybody received cash back back then.
So what does this imply?

Hi, just wanted to ask, does the entire petrol station using the same mcc code?
if the cashback was meant for petrol cashback at petrol station for example, if you buy other things like snacks n stuff, is it entitled for cashback too?

May or maybe not using same MCC.
HLB WISE card said petrol cash back is only applicable for automated dispenser.
