Hi, if I pass small FFT 24 hours in Prime v29 but fail blend within 30 minutes @ 2.7 Ghz, that leads to an unstable memory ? 8600K + Gaming 7.

It is stable with XMP 3000MHZ @ 2.6 Ghz but not at 2.7GHZ

I guess I need to increase VCCIO and System Agent Voltage ? Wondering what is the safe voltages for it..

wrong test for memory.

Initial testing with Realbench v2.56 (with AVX)...
9900K @ 5.0GHz core 4.5GHz cache @ 1.230v.
Stressed for 1 hour, core temps 77-85C under custom WC powered by 2x 360mm rads.
Chip is quite toasty even only 1.230v was given, same goes to VRM that's registering at 83C max. (Ambient 31C)

Gotta do with RAM speed + latency, my result was based on 3200 CL16-18-18.
Now increased to 12.3k with 3600 CL16-18-18.
Of course could do higher with further optimization etc.

ow.... mine always consistent at 5GHz, giving 11.5k with DDR4-3200 and 12.3k with DDR4-3600.
Had problem hitting 2200cb in Cinebench R15 earlier, sometimes 2090-2150cb.
Managed to get it back up after a fresh install of Windows 10. rclxm9.gif

Regarding stability...
Although RB v2.56 is stable @ 1.23v for 1 hours, Prime95 v29.5 with AVX custom blend 1344K/1344K will not stable at this vCore (almost instant freeze).
I tried putting 1.275v but doesn't seem to make it stable (core temps still below 100C mark).
Will try 1.285-1.3v later if my cooling (aging Supreme HF) is still able to handle the heat.
Small FFT as expected, shot up to 100C as soon as I started stressing the chip. sad.gif

Not a golden chip it seems. TBH I'm jealous seeing others getting 5GHz easily under 1.3v.

wei.. they all lucky.. cause temp etc... high chance u getting getting some power bleed above 80 which affects stability.. seen it even on x299 cpus...
above 80+.. u have issues..

but so far havent seen a proper stable 5ghz 9900k with 4+k ram...
aka rb 2.43 8 hours, 2.56 8 hours, hci memtest 1000%, gsat 2 hours

hi guys, im using gigabyte z370 gaming 7 motherboard + 8600k, was thinking of upgrading to i9 9900k in future, googled online many says the 8+2 phase vrm can handle 9900k moderately, what u guys think? any opinion? i know it not as good as z390 power phase but just wondering only if i slot in 9900k is it straight on stock good to go with games and etc? and yeah of course will not run small fft stress test with prime95 lol because with current 8600k oc to 5ghz @ 1.365v peak power reading about 160w the vrm temp hovering around 80c already, if no stress test at normal 5ghz 1.365v the vrm about 51c max with games etc... so i guess with 9900k sure is a no stress test first laugh.gif

da current gen.. is a sham.
its still based on a 6th gen skylake. improvement has been clockspeed, few more pcie lane on pch chipset, usb 3.1, and finally 9900k optimization for meltdown/specter.. but da cpu single thread clock to clock about the same...

the next gen we been looking at dmi 4.0, intel says double the instruction per cycle etc.. so...

Prime95 26.6 without AVX small FFT for 25mins

Gene's VRM seriously needs some active cooling if you're stressing the CPU at ~250W...

Just got free time to play with RAM OC sweat.gif
Let's start with DDR4-4500...

DDR4-4500 CL19-19-19-39-2T 1.45v:
user posted image

Gene XI is rated up to DDR4-4800 on the paper, next I'd try to push it further such as 4500 CL18-19-19/17-18-18, 4600 CL19-19-19 etc...

DDR4-4600 at reduced performance compared to 4500. laugh.gif
This could be the reason why there's no more 4600 CL19 kit in the market and G.Skill went for super-binned B-Die with A2 PCB rated at 4600 CL18 1.45v.

I think I might have just hit the IMC wall at this voltage or perhaps cooling limit.
Hence, stability test at this clock is gonna be very challenging but I won't give up...

Apparently stability at 4700 is still possible with 1.50v, just need to give the IMC more juice of VCCSA at 1.55v ...
