LOngkang rat cannot be kept cause they have disease and horrible parasites on them that can pass on to humans. Well, there is a possibility to train a Brown rat(the longkang rats) to be pets but very risky. I once tried to save a young brown rat coz it fell off the roof but couldn't, died in 2 weeks under my care...

Rats are actually considered the best pocket pets.... correct, people misjudge them coz there are those wild feral rats that are dirty and eat everything...

20 years? I don't think a rat can live that long.... maybe 3 to 4years. There is a potential of 7 years... if 20 years, can masuk guinness world records for oldest living common rat loh.

Rat very cheap only... less than Rm10 for fancy rats... I used to see fancy rats being sold in petshops in Australia...if you do not convert, then it is A$8 only there... so here the price also should be below Rm10 lah...

The diet is similar, provide a wide range of grains, hamster mix, protein and fiber from vegies.

But then many do not favour the rat because of their tails... or coz it has been implemented in our minds that all rats are dirty...

Should see a rat eat mealworms... so cuteeeee...

Now waiting for my cage for my rats and also my extra tanks... need them so badly loh.

Yay! I just gotten my 3 rats LOL.... so nice... pee on me a bit but quite tame. Now got 1 rat up my sleeve while 2 around my tummy....

pet Family got sell but now down to 2 hooded fancy rats only.... like a dark brownish grey and white... Like the 1st pic lah the dark hooded one. 1 is male and 1 is female... then the rest all the white rats loh.

Cage set up is quite easy but my cage not with me.... LOL... gotta wait. Now they living in a pail.

Anyway, get a nice tall cage. Pet Family selling a nice tall and big cage, just a bit rusty only for RM20! So nice... but you gotta repaint it a bit lah but really new... just rusty a bit due to humidity from air cond and their fish aquariums loh. In the cage you can hang hammocks, ropes to climb, wooden bird toys, PVC pipes, toilet roll, cups, even bird swing that is large and wide enough. Some people put bells and cat toys to hang. Rats are playful and energetic and I was very surprised to see them quite tame.

Got a wide variety of colours also but then not all available here lah.
Now I got 2 creams with dark ruby eyes... then plus that dark hooded...

Pet Family is at Taman Megah... You can take the Putra LRT and stop at Taman Bahagia to walk there. The cages are just a bit rusty but never used before... Good size. I think a few are Japanese brands... Rm20, go get a new non-toxic paint job for it then kau tim, good as new hahahah...

Hahah... now not in pail anymore but in a storage box... i'm quite surprised that they know it's their home. The storage box is low and has an opening for air... they climb out and go back in on their own and never go missing.... so funny when I come back into my room, coz everytime I enter my room, 3 heards will poke out.

Yah, is that place lah... Taman Megah... the shop near the hawker stall area...

Well, easier if you take the LRT to Taman Bahagia... then get down, go across the road and walk to the shop houses there. Walk straight, cross the road then sampai a bengkel kereta, walk straight and got Secret Recipe and sure in front is the petshop hahaha...

Today I realise 1 female rat is bigger and fatter. She eats everything first then only the 2 others will eat. She thinks she is boss and she makes funny sounds when on my shoulder hahahah... I dunno if it is a cold or it's her way of communicating to me.

Once I get my camera then sure lah got pictures hahahah...

If you walk from Taman Bahagia... nearer... if walk from Kelana Jaya... sweat till like mandi hahaha.... coz I did both before...

Yah.... got a few shades of cream.... the cream shade of Autum is called Champagne.... I still dunno what is mine yet....

Aiyah.... faster get loh.... really entertaining. My black hooded will sit on my shoulder and never move.... My biggest cream hooded will wanna walk around my shoulders hehehe... the smallest cream hooded is still scared and will pee on my hand...
