QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 21 2007, 09:49 PM) Hahah... what I wanna do with 40 young rats later? LOL.... Lols. Is the smell very bad? If I bring the rat out, would the smell be very noticable?Anyway... rats are more social.... They do act a bit like sugar gliders and rats got bigger brains so you can teach them some tricks like stand, come when you call their names and jump... Of course the smell of the rats pee is a bit smelly... ok, can say smellier than hamsters hahahah.... But it would be alright to keep their cage or tank outdoors provided the rats got good ventilation and a hidebox. Gerbils.... well, they smell less, smaller than rats, less cleaning than rats and they got actie personalities heheheh.... A single rat can get lonely so 2 rats are great. Females smell less than males. I think I'll stick to getting rats because I've always wanted them eversince I saw them in Pets Wonderland 2 years ago. |

Actually, both are equally good pets. It just depends on the buyer. Rats are more interactive and can be trained well using treats as if training a dog heheehh.... of course I do not train my rats that way but they are very nice to handle.... my friends are quite surprised when my rats sat in their arms for 1 hour. They enjoy being cuddled. Gerbils only can be held for a short time.... they do not like long handlings but a few handlings a day is fine.

I prefer pets that can be trained and handled. I love seeing all the hardwork put into training paid off in the end.
Around when would the babies be born, crazymouse? |

I got 6 hahahah.... 4 females and 2 males. So I am getting ready for 40 future rats if they each gonna give me 10 baby rats each time LOL....
Some will end up as pets while some will need to be food for other pets.... circle of life so I can't really help it anyway. But still quite a number will become pets to anyone who wants them lah. I have experienced with fancy mice, gerbils, hamsters and now rats.... my favourites are still gerbils... next are my rats then only hamsters and later on mice heheheh.... |

I only have experience with hamsters. I have 2 with me now and they have been with me for almost a year. So I'm pretty much a newbie with rats. Hehe. Will do some reading up about them though.

QUOTE(snowcandy @ Mar 26 2007, 03:02 PM) Heh. I think I'm sticking to rats. Not many people have them which makes them pretty unique. Not to mention they're easy to bring around and are really smart. snowcandy, MUST respect your choice.Reanne brought her rat (I think her rat's name is winter) around KL city in her T-shirt. Really cute rat. |
