kek. total deaths was around 10 or somewhere there. they died during the early stages. i guess need to get them before they grow too much. they say the younger the shrimp the better they adjust to dif water conditions.

last i count got at least 20+ babies. but i think should have more la, maybe still hiding in the bush somewhere. now still small, wait few weeks see how it grows maybe can start send out liao tongue.gif

remind me tonite take pic. last pic i took is when they are only 1 hours old lol

agreed, you can get a smaller one, start with just a pair, as you have more fishes, that's your excuse to buy. wakakak..... so bad of me... lol... but honestly, 1 tank cannot do anything with pure strain guppy, especially small tank. unless you dont plan to breed.

QUOTE(cybersim2 @ May 13 2016, 10:12 AM)
I heard Thailand & Taiwan have many good breeders. Anyone ever import guppy from his countries ? What is the requirement ?
*
not so much on thailand guppies, i been there last month, quite disappointing. taiwan yes, plenty of them, we can even get you "best of show" guppy strain (or family members) in the "world guppy contest". but problem is, what is your budget. in the world of guppy in taiwan, it's pretty chaotic also haha....

QUOTE(dp82 @ May 14 2016, 02:24 PM)
Every week at least 1 of my guppy die. Any expert can advise?

Some suicide by jumping out fr the tank, some just emo & die slowly. Now my tank left with 2 brand new guppies which i just bought. The rest all RIP.

1.5ft tank.
6-8 guppies.
Feed 2 times a day.
With standard water filter.
Tank with a bit of stones n 1 small fake plant.
Weekly change water, at least 50% of water.
Always prepare 1 pail of water with anti clorin, overnight for 3 days.
Clean my water filter, once every 2 weeks n replace sponge.
Lights are on at night for 12 hours.
Sometimes will change 20% of water n put some salt.

Anything wrong?
*
for a start, the bolded, put a sponge filter into the pail, air pump it for 24 hours, then it is good to go already. 2 days is already more than enough for the water to be safe for use.

what filter are you using? i'm only using sponge filter, don't have other type of filter also. i suspect, in your tank, already got some kind of virus brought in by your guppies, or even the fake plant, should be washed before use. how often do you change water? when i'm free, I used to 30% water daily, or about 50% every 2 days, or about 70-80% water every 3-4 days. keep the condition of the water good to keep your guppies healthy.

no need to put salt unless there's sick fish inside. after water change, put salt then don't feed for 2 days. see how it goes. or you can quarantine your sick fish. but if i were you, i will start all over again, as in, clear all the tank, clean it, put water into it, let it run for at least 2-3 days with sponge filter before introducing any fishes. good luck.

Hey guys.. wanna ask. I got 2 small pots with guppies & molly inside, with some submerse and immerse plant within. But only 1 pot water always appear green even after done water changes. Both pots also put outdoor with indirect sunlight.

What could had been cause of the green water ? I got snail inside to control those algae grow
*
indirect sunlight could also caused green water. green water doesn't mean it is not good, it's good for fishes too, but you cannot see them only. can try doing large water change and see how it goes. what kind of plant are they?

I changed 50% of the tank water once a week.

I usually leave my treated water for almost 5 days before i put into the tank.

Using normal sponge filter.
*
i change about 50% every 2-3 days.

5 days imo is a bit too long already.

U meant it's not recommended to use the treated water after so many days?

Best practise is to use it by 48hrs?
*
actually there is not such thing as best practice, but just that you need to let the fishes get used to your way of rearing fishes.

there are people who use treated water of 12 hours, 24 hours (like me), 48 or 72 hours. there is no such unwritten rule.

but rather, how are your fishes getting along with your way of keeping them happy. but generally, 24 hours is good enough (my opinion).

i airpump my water for usually more than 5 days. sometimes up till 8 days. not because i want it to be that long, but rather i lazy to change water when the time comes tongue.gif

and i dont put anti chlorine into the water, coz after pump for so long, chlorine should be long gone d

and i use it for my shrimps. so for fishes should be no problemo
*
yeah, no need to put anti chlorine. if i know i'm not gonna change for more than 2 days, i also wont put anti chlorine...

but if more than 10 days then better dont use already. this 1 taught by a shrimp master. haha....

Tak paham. More than 10 days dun use anti chlorine?
*
i mean if the water is more than 10 days old in your reserve tank, then the water is best not to be used already. taught by a shrimp master.

i also mean, if i'm not gonna change water for 2 days, then immediately after the refill of water in the reserve tank, i wont use anti chlorine, the air bubble from air pump can nullify the intoxication elements by itself already without the use of anti chlorine.

Question... what do breeders feed the fries to achieve fast growth? My fries, almost 2 months now still only about 1 inch in length. I see breeders selling their guppies, 2.5 months already big big  rclxub.gif

Very young fries, I feed with decaps brine shrimp eggs. When mouth big enough, now mix with hikari pellets... I feed them as often as possible. Surely more than 4 times a day.

Any tips, sifu?
*
the only solution is............ feed live food....... haha.... like artemia brine shrimps (the only recommended food). or you can feed microworm, but the risk of getting viruses or bacteria is higher with microworm, or can feed 水蛭. i dunno what is it called in english.

feeding with live food is more effective. you will notice the difference.

my fry 3 weeks old only already reaching 1 inch soon.....

keep up the feeding intervals. sometimes when i'm at home like weekend, i would feed like every 2-3 hours, up to 7-8 times a day... but in smaller quantity....

Used to have heavily planted tank when keeping shrimps but maintenance too high for office... trimming... and a tank full of plants makes cleaning messy.

This set up is virtually maintenance free.... besides feeding, everyday just scoop a few cups of water off ... add back a few cups of water = settle.  laugh.gif

ps: yeah... from C 哥
*
i see..... this is really maintenance free tank. so easy in changing water. but no need to siphon out the dirt lying on the ground? envy... how i hope i can put up a tank in my office....

see… I see your fish I know whose strain it is…. Hahaha…. Why not get their mosaic, they are famous with their mosaic. 白蓝马赛克… very nice strain. Best is if with 半礼服. 半礼服白蓝马赛克. fuuuhhh long time didnt see such fish liao... drool.gif
