My keyboard dream(s):

1. Novatouch 55g TKL with custom alu body. I already have an RF55g, so I guess just swapping the rubber will be enough. I was really close to buying the barebones Novatouch and getting started on my own CNC'd case, then I got a girlfriend.

2. Another Lightsaver. For all my complaints about the difficulty of getting that elusive 1.75x shift, I build all my boards with that now and I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Don't know who is that.

Most Dota players and Korean SC2 players don't use striped vomit keycap layout. While a few idiots do use that striped layout, the colours are distracting and serve no purpose.

QUOTE(-Hzu- @ Feb 24 2016, 03:36 PM)
dadud may have sounded harsh, but he's right. I've never seen anyone else done that and if it really is effective, prove it.

Now, the most important question, do you like it that way? If you do, keep it as you like it. No one's forcing you to change, not even dadud. lol
*
QUOTE(justnits @ Feb 24 2016, 03:49 PM)
who is that?

but in all seriousness, you have to understand that dadude is always like that. he speaks out his opinion very bluntly. he doesn't hate you, just your choice of keycaps layout  laugh.gif

my guess is that, people wants to be different from others. that's why this plastic business is damn serious.
that's probably one of the way he use to "show off" his keyboard or to give his keyboard a personality, since DAS keyboard can't do much appearance alterations except changing keycaps colour.

anyway, as -hzu- says, if you like it, ignore the bad comments from other people and stick with it. beauty lies to the eyes of the beholder.
*
Harsh? I give you harsh:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

However, in reality, I just don't like it coz of OCDness. I hope you don't take it personally when I say that it looks ugly (to me) and I don't think that you can game/type faster/better because of it since looking at your keyboard at any times would probably cause you to die more. Nontheless, I hope you're happy, because I don't think I would be if anyone hands me that keyboard.

Also, don't you feel a bit itchy considering the left mods are different sizes but you still have to continue to to use alternating caps over and over so it starts to get a bit weird with the rate of which caps are alternating then BOOM your spacebar is a long space of the same colour but you've already committed to doing this weird thing so you alternately have different caps for your board and then you realize that different caps have different shapes/finishing/height/weight unless you bought both from the same manufacturer (trust me on this) so when you type is feels a little weird and so inconsistent feeling.

*deep breaths*

Besides, I paid a lot of money for good caps even though my layout is fucked up, so I don't understand it when people intentionally mess it up.

QUOTE(richard912 @ Feb 25 2016, 08:35 AM)
I would prefer RGB since there will be options for how the lighting can be configured for the keys. Just white is fine too. Again, it won't be a deal breaker. Just hope the wait won't be too long. Brown switch is the way for me as it will be a mix of work and play. Don't like the clicky Blue, Red feels too "heavy", Romer-G feels, don't know how to describe it better, unreal. Don't recall how a Topre feels but generally Topre switches are 45g, which would be great for work I suppose.
Interesting article. Vindicates my choice for going with Brown. Form factor wise, would love a 60% but I use the F-keys regularly for work and play so, TKL for me! No overly funky design either. Plain and simple suits me fine.
*
I suggest that you try other switches first before proclaiming Brown is the best. I used to think exactly like you did, but then when I started using other switches for real, it changed my worldview.

i was surprised that more people liked the brown than the red for gaming (personally i prefer brown general and gaming, but i didn't think majority of others did too  smile.gif  )

Red is only really suitable for FPS. Other games might benefit from other switches also.

1. Budget.
2. Have money.
3. Buy random board. Doesn't matter which one, because it'll never be the right board.
4. Realize that you need another board. Pick reason; [need different switch, need different layout, MKB broke down; want/don't want LEDs, want another for home/office/travel, others:______]
5. Repeat from #1

I retired because no money, now got money come out of retirement for a few more boards, and maybe some caps.

Wanna see how it compared to my Rosewill RK-9000's Cherry Blues

The price i not so sure yet, coz i ask my cousin help me buy off taobao for me, not yet know the final price, but estimated it to be around <RM250 shipped.

QUOTE(davey.havok @ Feb 27 2016, 07:40 AM)
Doing business while pretending it's "community service" is just one thing.

After going through a couple dozen CtrlAlt GB pages in GH, I realised something else - Cody and Bunny love to bounce the ball back and forth.

Bunny: "Your item should be with Cody, but he is busy, I will ask him later."
Cody: "Bunny knows more about your order, I am not sure, I'll get him to update you."

This is a great tactic for buying time, as it allays customers' anxieties (hey, at least ONE of the bosses replied me) and gets them to ease off for a few more days.

I used to know a company that did this thing all the time.

Boss #1 (on the phone to supplier): "Your payment cheque with boss #2, but he is overseas now, don't worry I will rush him for you."
Boss #2 (on the phone to customer): "Your order is being handled by boss #1, he is currently on leave, it will be completed when he gets back."

Padahal both bosses are sitting side by side in the same office.

We called this tactic "Singgam Linggam". I try to avoid companies that set up two key men to play Singgam Linggam. It's better to deal with faceless entities where your support ticket can be answered interchangeably (e.g. Massdrop), or with companies where one guy is answerable to everything (e.g. Pexon).
*
Deswai I no trust ady. Rather get refund and buy the cap from other sources.

QUOTE(justnits @ Feb 27 2016, 08:44 AM)
haha, i believe those who really look at the GB closely will see more or less the same thing as you did.  whistling.gif
except, this one has 1 more level, ctrlalt's voluntarily white knights.

in my mind, i pictured the whole ctrl alt thing like starcraft. bunny & cody is the overmind...and you should know the rest lol!

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Feb 27 2016, 09:31 AM)
Normal. You watch movie also saw those underlings protected their complacent and incompetent leader. nod.gif
Those underlings at the end demand rewards also. Very good loyalty program.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
The shitty whiteknights are the best part. One whole page of people defending CTRLalt, then one reply from cody/bunny.

On top of that, too many personal commitment to be doing this. I doubt they get zero profit from this. I don't believe that shit at all.

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Feb 27 2016, 10:00 AM)
Eh, is that the only board with gaterons? smile.gif

Do you have any other board that also uses gaterons in mind?

Is it cheaper to get ready made board or diy our own gateron boards?

Found this, the taobao conversion is 195, so I'm assuming the shipping charges and extra fees for conversion should be less than rm50? How much it usually cost to ship a mech kb?

http://world.taobao.com/item/527025787668....2_1456538144476

Dishonorable or incompetent. You choose.

QUOTE(rurushu @ Feb 27 2016, 10:37 PM)
well, I'm not sure what is your definition of a great brand is, nor what is deemed as a great product by your standard, but I think not all brands are stagnant in their product development, there are those that makes mistakes, but willing to refine and fix those mistake to bring better products to the market  smile.gif

Also, I'm not buying this at random, after getting recommendation to get this board, I did my fair share of researches on it and found that its offering vs price point is worth giving a try and thus decide to buy it  laugh.gif
This is what I saw in most /r/mechanicalkeyboard forums and reviews, they suspect recent batches of mx blues are having production issue either due to cost cutting or QC problem.
With all that said, it makes me ever more curious to find out myself  tongue.gif
Actually I do not know what other boards are currently offering Gateron switches, I only knew MagicForce 68 (from davey.havok's review), Varmilo, and Rantopad MXX courtesy of a member in the fb mechanical keyboard club.

With the availablity of boards made by computer peripherals company, and some with a friendly price tag like the rantopad, i think it is cheaper to get ready made board unless you intend to have your own one-and-only board, then it is a different story  laugh.gif
*
MX Blues have problem with consistency. Different batches report different ratings, so I've heard from 50g to 60g effective actuation force. Gaterons are made with new (?) molds, so their consistency way better. This is the first ever "clone" switch that I personally recommend.
