Mignolet should get 6.0, yes its a clean sheet game, but many times when the players run and look at Mignolet hoping him to distribute for a counter attack, he slowed down and wave the hand asking all the players to get the fuck off and take his own sweet time to slowly cross. This could be BR restricting him to do any sort of counter attack.

And Lallana should be getting 4.0 if Ibe got 5.0. Agree on all others.

ok then i bargain a .05 for his 2 fine saves. tongue.gif

The positivity of some fans are really admirable. Does getting a rather fortuitous 1-0 victory over Stoke really leave you contented? The criticism I'm giving is not for the result but the way we played. Had we played well and showed attacking intent with numerous chances I can accept that we are unlucky to not take our chances if it ended 0-0 or 1-0 the other way. Need I remind you that this is not the "extremely aggresive and difficult to beat" Stoke of Tony Pulis? That title now belongs to Palace who are still our bogey team.

The true fans can keep brandishing the "this is a difficult team to beat" card but this is the Premier League where every team is difficult to beat. Just have a look at last season's table.

The top 5 above us are obviously difficult to beat. The 3 newcomers are also difficult to beat because they have a lot to prove and will be fighting for their lives. The bottom 3 come the end of the season will be difficult for that same reason. Amongst the mid table teams Soton, Swansea, Stoke, Newcastle, Everton, Palace, WestHam, Villa are all potential "banana-skin" fixtures. Does that mean it is now okay to come away with just 1 point against these teams?

Nevertheless, it's still an improvement over last season. Don't forget the title run two seasons ago where we started off with a 1-0 victory against Stoke also in rather fortuitous circumstances (Mignolet saved penalty basically rescued us from a draw, just like Coutinho this time). 3 points is 3 points, and to achieve when major contenders have slipped up on opening day means we're on the right track.

Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a Rodgers supporter and I feel we underperformed again due to bad selection (no holding midfielder to free up Milner and Henderson?) but I'll take this win and be happy about it. When Rodgers loses, I will offer criticism as well.

I think this season those 'clever' big teams might just struggle to dish higher average goals this season. One, I think the new offside rule will have some impact greater than anyone could imagine.

There will be a lot of banana skin/bogey teams that will spring upsets. Arsenal vs west ham, anyone?

I acknowledge the gulf of difference will still be there at the end of the season. Having a larger above average quality squad can be a insurance.

I not entirely happy but given the circumstances of the above I have mentioned, I will still take ugly/lucky win over complete utter possession dominance and no goals.

i disagree on the improvement. new players, same tactics. this season will be the same like last season with BR still in charge. some ppl calling BR tactical genius with the sub bringing off lallana for can, pushing coutinho to the left flank. i call this a one-off fluke.

rodgers calls this outstanding character and personality. you pathetic fans know nothing of the tactical masterstroke brendan has pulled off there. there is only one legend - brendan rodgers. the new refurbished stadium should be named after him - The Great Rodgers Stadium.

If Liverpool could complete the whole season undefeated and win the league, I'll reconsider.

But in the meantime , I think most acknowledged the formations started (4-1-4-1) was ineffective.

Btw, Rodgers did (really) want to take courthino out ๐Ÿ˜ณ Before the goal.

Result is important but doesnt it worries you when your team were clueless at most time on how to score a goal?

I dont see any point arguing if BR is the right man. Lets see after a few more games. Its not that we can change anything since FSG has already decided to stick with him.

will few more games really enough? last season it took br almost 6 months to finally settle with 5-4-1, which lasted few months until it get exposed again. i watched our pre-season games and it's worrying liverpool are still playing the same as last season. if finishing 2nd is not a fluke, then why can't we play the same again.
