Hey guys and gals, just wanted to ask what file format do you convert your videos to before uploading to YouTube?



This is my latest video with my new mic. I'm quite pleased with the overall quality. But the video quality I believe could be better (especially in the beginning, maybe that part was a movie file and not ingame... i don't really know) and I'm sick so I sounded a little raspy at some point. Any idea what's the optimal format to be used with YouTube? As always, any feedback is much appreciated.

I always use mp4 because overall seems fine for me, but I didn't really go experience many other format.

Yeah I believe MP4 is the most optimal. Other formats might have problem with YouTube. Also, there is a difference in sound after it is uploaded on YouTube... it is very marginal but there is a difference. I use Facebook video too and that has quite different sound after upload... it's more treble'ey.

I go back and forth between MP4 & H.264 although the 2 belongs to 1 big family, MPEG-4.
Somehow, the former seems to take up more space compared to the latter and quality wise, I can’t really tell the difference; hence, my preference of using both of them, depending on what video I’m working on.

By the way, here’s Part 2 & Part 3 of FIREWATCH!

Well if I got this right, MP4 is a format and H.264 is a video compression codec. I actually use H.264 in MP4 format. I think it depends on your video editor, you should have the option to output to MP4 with H.264. May I know what video editing software do you use? H.264 is an industry standard now for compression codec.

BTW your channel is awesome.

Here's a website contains lot of indie games Gamejolt and lot of good one (and of cause bad one), sometimes you might think it's hard to spend a lot of money for game, then you may consider this site. Many BIG Youtubers play the games from this site too.

H.264 is just another compression version of MP4, like the many other belonging to the same family.
I’m using an old version of Sony Vegas (I got this back in 2007… Yeah, I know… Boh Lui Leh! ) but it has served me well so far, so you know what they say, right?

Yeah if you're comfortable with it and it doesn't feel like the video editor limits you then it's fine to continue using it. Btw I'm pretty sure you're more than capable of doing a channel intro. Just keep it simple and short.
