I think the audio levels are a bit inconsistent. Your voice is pretty soft in the latest video. In terms of content I think your Mechwarrior videos do better because it's a niche. Not as many people do videos on it. It's a perfectly fine strategy to focus your new videos on that. You need to practise you presentation. Be more natural and clearer. That's all I can think of now.

Yeap that's what I meant. Each video audio levels very different. And the latest one is to soft. Totally understand. I'm super busy with work as well. I find that commentary on the fly, that's when you record the video and audio together while you're playing the game to be much harder. You have to be pretty good to do that. That's why videos with narration are great for practising your commentary. Since you can read your script and improve it, listen where you're weak and keep improving. Once you've aced that you can naturally move into commentary on the fly. That's my humble opinion though.

Because the key is to allow yourself to listen to yourself. And see where you can improve. It's sort of like practising a speech really.

You can google for voice over tips. The basics are the same as recording VO for commercials etc. See what you can learn from professional VOs. Like this for instance:

Lastly, have fun. If learning, improving and refining your craft brings great satisfaction to you, you're on the right path.

PS: I'm learning as well. Trying to also make my narration clearer and better.

When you say background noise, you mean other people's voice? That is a bit more work to remove. You can try headset with noise cancellation but I always find noise cancellation muffles the sound a bit. But maybe there are headsets that can do this well.

Yes... well Im not a sound engineer so i couldn't edit the song to end as clean as the pros do.

Oh wow really. I didn't notice it. Yeah I removed noise already. Will give it another listen and try to set my noise removal value higher a bit.

You mean from my voice? And also, are you listening to it with volume at max?

Ok I might know what you're talking about. But it's super faint and very hard to notice. I don't think I can do anything about it. My microphone recording has a lot of static and the little that's left at the background when I speak is hardly audible to me. But I know it's there. The more higher the value I use noise removal via software the more muddled my voice sounds. So it's a bit of a balance. Anyway I know I'll need a new mic for recording... but I'm making do with what I have right now... for a few months at least.

Oh wow. I miss my Left 4 Dead days. It was probably the best fun I had playing with friends. Men of War comes a close second. I'd watch more Left 4 Dead videos you do

Hmm yeah I think it was TF2. Before hatspocalypse I have uninstalled L4D and looking forward to Left 4 Dead 3 and Half Life 3.

My last video with my old microphone.

Hey guys and gals, just wanted to ask what file format do you convert your videos to before uploading to YouTube?



This is my latest video with my new mic. I'm quite pleased with the overall quality. But the video quality I believe could be better (especially in the beginning, maybe that part was a movie file and not ingame... i don't really know) and I'm sick so I sounded a little raspy at some point. Any idea what's the optimal format to be used with YouTube? As always, any feedback is much appreciated.

Yeah I believe MP4 is the most optimal. Other formats might have problem with YouTube. Also, there is a difference in sound after it is uploaded on YouTube... it is very marginal but there is a difference. I use Facebook video too and that has quite different sound after upload... it's more treble'ey.

Well if I got this right, MP4 is a format and H.264 is a video compression codec. I actually use H.264 in MP4 format. I think it depends on your video editor, you should have the option to output to MP4 with H.264. May I know what video editing software do you use? H.264 is an industry standard now for compression codec.

BTW your channel is awesome.

Yeah if you're comfortable with it and it doesn't feel like the video editor limits you then it's fine to continue using it. Btw I'm pretty sure you're more than capable of doing a channel intro. Just keep it simple and short.

Hey guys, doing something a little different. Random plays of video games. With a bit of first impressions. First video is very raw and well... okay maybe it sucks... but I'm doing my best to improve with each video. New video coming out Monday.. OH and have a great long weekend.
