My suggestion is just call to waive before anniversary. If they dont waive, then redeem lo. Haha.

If 1st time fail, try again. 2nd time is a charm.

It didnt work, I called again which a different agent picked up, apparently my first call to their CS, the offer for the annual waiver of 50% discount was written on their memo so whoever picks up your call will know that you have already called up for annual waiver. Damn, looks like it cant be fully waived... 

I called today to ask for waiver of the annual subscription fee and they try to give me the taichi move.

First call they said they will transfer the call to the officer in charge and then later said the call didn't get through so they leave a message for the officer to call me back.

Second call when they did the same, I said you better make sure the transfer is successful. Yet they try to tell me that the transfer is no good so I said this is not right, and they must make the transfer again. This time the officer finally pick up the call and try to convince me to take the 10,000 bonus miles that goes with the payment of annual subscription fee. I said no, and they finally agree to waive it. It will take two working days for the waiver to reflect in the credit card statement.

I drop a message via live chat. Someone from annual fee department called.

Told me this year no waiver for Citibank clear.

I will call another time in the next few days. If they don't waive. Gonna redeem my points and say bye.

I am having PremierMile card. Yes, they waive the full amount and the 6% GST.

not everyone is lucky.
sometimes u reject their offer, they will still ask you to pay. or end of the day you may just want to cancel your card.

just a suggestion/hint on asking for annual fee waiver.

every year i will call before card anniversary. Made all the payment even when statement is not out yet. My first sentence will be "i want to cancel my xxx card." Eventually operator will ask you what is the reason. Just tell you don't want to pay annual fee. Call will be transfer to customer retention dept and got waived.

more than 10 years i am doing this and not a single failure on getting waiver.

im currently on visa reward platinum...is there a better card to switch in terms of rewards and benefits ? currently the annual fee is rm600+ but i call to get it waived anyways...

PremierMiles no usage at all except the PPL unlimted free entry 
For Visa CB, minimal usage on petrol to get 5% rebate

I do have some 5000+ points but not many.
I've been a long long time customer to CBB.
