Did you apply via agent? If yes, this seems to be a normal practice lately. Agents tend to apply more so that they get more commission based on what I understand. If you decide you dont want it, you can cancel the extra card. Unless, it was a downgraded, although i believe you wouldn't have applied if you didn't fulfill. So, the extra card theory is more likely

According to T&C, jaya grocer is not one of the merchants under the 2% grocery section. and the 8% is first-come-first-serve basis.

if you ask my personal experience and the ppl around me, i will say easy to waive. if you look at this forum, it's like a black box, unknown reason for waive and not waive. i would say not spending alot doesn't mean can't waive.

It looks like quite legit. Foc for 6 months. It's not something difficult to give for free.

But, I believe by subscribing to this, the downside is AIA will forever have your info and data and they can call you do sell stuff.

If you dont mind remembering when your annual fee will be charged and calling in to waive it, then you may still apply citibank card for whatever purpose you have in mind. I don't mind cause just call once a year, don't seem to have problem with waiving it yet. IF you mind, you still can go for citi simplicity card which has no annual fee.

If simplicity card is not what you want, then you yourself have to outweigh the pros and cons with applying new or using existing other credit cards. etc...

Citibank does not have any card with swipe xx times and waive annual fee kind of card.

But to answer your question, yes, usually those transactions count. What usually doesn't count is the annual fee, late payment charge, etc.

With citibank, it's not 100%. But 1st year is free. You only need to worry the 2nd year and onwards. If you think you might forget after 1 year, you may want to consider other cards which have no annual fee.

If you dont mind calling, just start calling slightly less than 1 month before or something. Cause the annual fee is charged on statement date. So if today the cs say cannot, then call again tmr. If tmr pass, then okay lo.

Dont need to have 1 month gap between calls la.

Might want to be more careful disclosing this information. Dont give too exact. Revealing p&c info about your personal info.

Actually quite standard for citibank to give about 3times monthly income, based my experience and of my friends.
