thats their marketing team... their marketing staffs need commission to survive because their basic salary kinda low

every banks hav their own marketing team actively promote specific product.. we have rhb.. hsbc ... hlb... mbb... aeon..

by not discounting annual fee waiver to most of their customers, i forsee they don't even care
*
same happened to me, they insisted me to pay RM630 annual fee for premier miles. i said no, then they downgraded me to the annual fee waived card. Full stop.

threatening to cancel, begging doesnt works.

Then you are at their mercy because of that instalment plan. My annual fee was waived quite effortlessly. And i only spend with my card on stuffs that give me benefits. I also feel that their customer service is still considered pretty good.

terminate the card.. hoping the retention team will call you and agree to waive

Cancelled my premier miles 9 months ago, nobody call to rentend me. They have too many customers no issues to loose some.
No point to get the fees waived, take it or leave it.

Citibank is very strict on waiver. I had a card previously with spending more than RM 200k. They refuse to waive either. I cancelled the card , no one ever retain me. after 3 month they called back and asked whether I am interested to reuse their cc again. I could choose any card that I want and they would give me a surprise gift as token of appreciation. What the bullshit. I say No. bye.bye.

Ask any marketer, they will tell you the cost to solicit a new customer is much more than to retain an existing customer.
Citibank never learn.

Oo different from my understanding from CS which i hear that for example if there is rm9k balance on bt, we need to pay rm45 as interest for that month. This is after i ask them to explain 2 times
Can share your info?
*
Ok, my understanding is that say if you BT - RM3000, the conventional BT is that you need to settle an equal amount every month, i.e. RM500 + interest.

For Citibank BT scheme, you need to pay the minimum 5% per month (RM150), before the 6 month expired, you need to settle all in one go, otherwise on the 7th months onward, the interest will be increased from 0.99% to 15% p.a. It is a flexible payment scheme, within the 6 months you can pay any amount, the 0.99% is charged on the unpaid amount.

Yes, i used to have premier miles and cancel it as the RM600 annual fees cannot be waived.
I threaten to cancel, and then they cancel it and send me a basic card since.

I took up the Citibank 0.99% BT - 6 months offer back in Sept 2017 which I think it is a good deal. Under this scheme, I can pay any amount (as long as more than the minimum payment (of 5%)) during the 6 months tenure. If I pay any extra, the extra payment will go to settle my retail purchase first before goes to my balance transfer.

Only today I found out that it is a big catch of this so called 0.99% p.a. BT promotion.

Once you take up the offer, all retail purchase will be charged financial charge of 15% p.a. from the day you swipe your credit card. The normal practice for retail purchase is if you swipe your card on 1st Jan, it will go to your Feb statement and you will be given 50 days, say the beginning of March to settle the retail purchases transactions.

But once take up the BT 0.99% offer, the financial charges started from 1st of Jan, so you no enjoying 50 days interest-free grace period. I called to Citibank hotline and this is what the CS explained to me. But the thing is this is not known to me in the first place, i felt i am cheated, and the modus operandi is so different than other bank's BT.
I call it a scam...

Any feedback from others? Do you encounter the similar situation? What is the solution?

Did you read the PDS (Product Disclosure Sheet) before signing up for this thing?
*
It was done over the phone, no PDS involved. They prompted me to listen to the terms and condition over the phone, it was a short 10 seconds normal terms voice recording, and I click No. 1 Yes - agreed after listening to the T&C. It talked about monthly min and max payments, i am flexible to settle any amount as long as more than the min amount.

I don't recall the voice recording mention about 15%-18% interest rate applicable on the retail purchase once I take up the offer.

Citi reducing balance BT is interest rate applicable on retail purchase if BT running.
TnC mentioned, but of course not the exact word to tell you that "15-18% interest rate applicable on retail purchase" la.
Last time I prompt to interest this BT, but the officer offer me their instalment BT instead, which she mentioned to me for this BT,
advisable not to use the card for retail purchase, which will imposed interest
.

in your case, the officer warned you, but not in my case. I am like kena tipued, as the way it works so different from the local banks.
