Guys need some advice here..

1. Preferred Brand : ASUS, DELL
2. Budget : 2.5-3.5k
3. Usage : Work, light gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14"-15", 1080p
5. Preferred processor: i7 latest or second latest gen
6. Weight: below 2.5kg

Currently have my eyes on ASUS K501UB-DM055T but cannot find it anywhere. Maybe someone can recommend any good sellers that have stock?

Anyways since the model I want is very hard to find I would appreciate it if you guys can recommend me any laptops that meet the specs.

Thanks in advance!  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Perhaps you can consider to top up a bit for an i5 that comes with an OS. Uni student always have tons of assignments and hence, getting an i5 is more reliable in this case. Perhaps you can consider this one? Hope this helps a bit. biggrin.gif

is it possible to get 8gb ram version? as will be doing a lot of virtulization stuff and intense coding, intel is preferred for its VT-x tech.

For the acer brand u suggested, I can add in another 4gb myself right? Will it void the warranty? It will void the warranty right if a sticker is placed at the screw area.

actually can... can ask from the shop.. yes, you can add 4gb urself.. but if the below compartment have different build like asus k401lb... then you had carefully open the compartment. if there is seal, then, carefully peel the sticker.

based on the 3 models below, isnt the older models more worth for money and higher performance?
I saw in IT Fair today the latest 572g-57N0, but to upgrade its ram to 16gb will make the laptop cost to be around the 591g-73A2, which has a quadcore processor, What do you guys recommend?
the old model price might be before gst..
Anyone knows where still can get around this price?

ok. the old model have better specs.. thats why its a bit pricy. quad core + better gpu offer is a bonus. but those prices cant be compare with new model. new model comes with different platform and i can say ddr4 is pretty expensive because its still early since its launching. dual core i5 + mid-end gpu, 4gb ram, and 1T hdd only 3.1k.. if you can get i5 quad core + gtx960m and 8gb ram at least, the price will be higher than those 2 old model.

another alternative you can see for better specs and on par level with old model is dell 7559. just it does not have any optical disk drive.

DDR4 diff and ddr3l isnt much different in terms of performance.
As for platform, its free upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10.
Do you know anywhere that sells the old model?
i Checked lowyat plaza, none.

a lots of different.... ddr4 is a new memory module while ddr3L is last cycle of ddr3 family. windows 8.1 to win10 is free upgrade as long as your OS have legit lisence. For old model, im not so sure... try check garage sales and contact some of seller nod.gif

but what common things among ddr3L and ddr4 is less consume power
