Need Technical Advice on the following issue that I faced on the Preve Premium that I have gotten. (Model 2014, CVT VT3+, Mileage ~ 4K)

1. SRS airbag indicator light on dashboard issue.

~ from what I have been observed, the indicator light is off when the car started. While driving, sometime the light come out for 1 to few seconds and then off, and its randomly occurred.

~ I checked the Airbag connector under the passenger seat and driver seat, didn't found any loose connections.

2. Battery indicator light

~ When driving the car, this indicator some time is lit up and it will flickering until all the electrical system automatically turn off on its own and then turn back on.

~ To Isolate that from those power hungry devices such as air-con, So I have tried to turn off the air-con also this issue will occur no matter what.

~ The battery and alternator checking at COSE shows the alternator and battery is running fine. So I start to suspect the voltage regulator.

3. CVT Indicator light.

~ This mostly occurs when driving on highway at low speed (~ 1.5K Rpm)
~ Normally it is occurs following after the battery indicator light.

Have sent to proton SC outside, but they just reset the fault code and reset ECU.

However this does not solve the root cause, and the error still coming back.

Anyone have faced this problem before?

Today the car condition worsening. After start the car, all electrical related equipment incl (HU, instrument panel, lighting) is turned off and the battery indicator light up.

The start/stop button will not responding to the touch unless long press on it, restart few times also same symptom. and there is one time follow by check engine and cvt indicator light.

Lastly, able to start engine without any issue and able to drive..

Really problematic in my case.

For ABS light sometimes come on/ some time not and just stay for 1 second or more and then off, the staff said its the connector under driver seat and said have fixed it aldy.

While for the battery indicator flickering while driving and all electrical system turned off and turned on back few times, follow by CVT check light. They said so far they have not experience it and also no error code registered in the ECU.

Thus, I Have asked them to test the car thoroughly as the problem some times not occurs, and some time it immediate occurs after engine started. (Now I start to suspect its some ground wiring issue or there is wire that is short inside some hidden location)

While in between I also discovered other issues like sponge stuck on the air vent, so that one they will open the dashboard and clean the internal and re fix the new sponge things.. Cost about RM400+ for the sponge job.

And also malfunction Room light switch ~RM80+, Side Mirror flip switch ~ RM50., Boot light bulb also need to be replaced.


AND THe MOST IMPORTANT PART IS ON THE MILEAGE... I HAVE BEEN CHEATED BY SECOND HAND DEALER. THE SAID MILEAGE DURING SELLING IS 38xx KM, While the real Mileage 38XXX KM after I verify at the service centre.

Is it can be considered as criminal act for the second hand dealer to modify the mileage so that they can selling fast and higher price?

I believe there are syndicates, or the dealer itself modified the odometer mileage.

As per my conversation with the service advisor at the COSE, they told me that all these car is impossible to get so low mileage as the car are being heavily used by the PROTON itself. And also the dealer don't dare to produce service record. Must bring the car Reg No. to service centre to check then only can verify the real mileage.

I just ask them to replace it since I know its pretty quite cheap.

However, Sometime even the COSE itself they keep minimum stock. For Example the running channel for the windows, they only have 1 pcs in stock for each windows side. So, if run out then they need to restock and would take few days.

BTW, I would recommended not going for these small proton service outlet if there is issue with the car.. as they are not competent at all and they are like robot, not for any troubleshooting job. The one I recommended is COSE and Glenmarie.

In my mind I thought only the analog odometer can be adjusted... After bought the car then only I found out the Digital Odometer can be adjusted via OBDII - Android phone (Youtube)......

But luckily the engine and the gearbox so far is working fine (Like new car) as the previous owner (Proton Edar Cose) service it on time according to the schedule.

While the problem that I faced currently its not being reported previously when the car was owned by Proton Edar Cose. And they need time to investigate it. ~Already 1 week. (Troubleshooting only done on weekday, while normal service 7 Days/Week)

Body Price Incl GST is RM40800

++ Processing fee, all those small small handling fee, runner fee, insurance, roadtax, sum up to RM 44700

Year Make 2014, CVT VT3+, 6 Airbags.

After check the market value is should be around ~ 36000.

And, I can said these unethical second hand car dealer is really worst, want to earn more by modify the mileage.

Luckily this car previously maintained by Proton, Otherwise the condition I also dunno aldy.

Yeah.. luckily its own by Proton previously with proper service.

Just an update on my car status:

1. SRS Airbag light intermittent light up - FIXED

- Refix wiring harness (Under driver seat)

2. Sponge on the aircon vent - FIXED

- Open up dashboard for cleaning and install HVAC kit.

3. Recall Parts: - Replaced FOC (parts+labor)

- Oil Hose replacement
- Starter Adapter B+ Terminal

4. Side Mirror flip switch not working - Replaced

- Replace flip switch assembly

5. Room Light/ Map light Assembly faulty - Replaced

- Replace new room light assembly.

6. Trunk Lid Lamp no lighting - FIXED

- Found out it is due to connector issue.

7. Battery Indicator Light & CVT light - (Somehow FIXED)

- Initial checking does not found any error code inside the ecu.
- Does not occurs anymore after the service, Perhaps some wiring issue on the dashboard/ or other faulty assembly/ connector that is replaced during the services. (Fixed)

Ok. The good news is, currently happily driving without any problem.

The dashboard opening, cleaning and HVAC outlet kit cost ~400

Side mirror flip switch + Wiring ~ RM 50 (incl labor)

Room light assmbly ~ RM 70 (incl labor)

Windows run channel ~ RM 270 (incl labor)

Wheel alignment + balancing ~RM 56

Incl Free car wash, tyre polishing.


Total Damage about RM 845. and no complain on the price as the parts price has been lowered down a lot compared to last time.

Did anyone notice on the right bottom side of the windshield (From front view), there is a small rectangular space (Not cover by the black color laminate or what ever).. What is the purpose of that part?

Hmm.. are you sure? coz no chassis number showing up there...I saw chassis number under firewall, near to the pillar. but not on the front windshield bottom right (from front view) .
and that part actually is a empty space on the windshield without lamination/film that enable us look through to the dashboard... (sort of like prepare for future gadget upgrade)...

Oh I see, thanks. btw, did your car got the chassis number stick at there? Mine didnt have.

oooo.. like that....I guess probably those exported out (Australia, etc) have it. as so far I never see any preve in malaysia having the VIN on the windshield there.

btw.. for Preve CFE,

does the turbo whining sound audible at 1.5K-2K RPM and disappear after exceeding 2K (Seldom drive at high speed, so didn't notice if got or not after 2K)

I think my one got this light whining sound at 1.5-2K RPM. and from what I have check at youtube, seems it is not CVT whinning sound.

If cost of replace the projector inside is too high,, think it would be better just get a new headlamp assy.

Poor you.. there is a fix seat for the bulb to sit on... I got heard at the service center when the head technician was teaching those young technician (On how the light should be look like on the lamp cover when it is correctly positioned).
