i gave my local proton service center a call. indeed it is a recall program for CVT replacement. I asked if they are going to charge for recall and he said no, they will still replace it even after warranty so long as its a recall program.
so i guess this is the perks of sending the car for service at a proton sc even after warranty?
*
I see.

But the sms I got from my sc states mine is still under warranty.

Strange.

P/S confusing. Like i said earlier, if it is a design problem, then they should fix the problem regardless of whether under warranty or not. Dont know where this CVT stands.

Noted a louder noise on the first startup in the morning, RPM at around 1100. Idle later in the day is about 800.

Like to know what is your RPM on the first startup in the morning.

BB
Engine noise has changed since I got the car nearly 5 years ago. Anyone with a similar problem?

Thanks.

Installed a Jansite car camera in my Preve. Pretty good, much less glare than my previous camera unit. Easier to use too.

Problem is, now my radio reception seems to be poor. Dont know whether it is due to the new camera. Anyone with a similar problem after installing a car camera unit?

Thanks.

P/S Checked the antenna. Shocked to see the black plastic cover breaking up with cracks here and there. Maybe this antenna is the cause of my poor radio reception. It may also be the cause of my GPS map which I have asked SC to check twice in the past. So going to order an antenna from SC. Hopefully that will solve my 2 problems.

I know this is Preve forum but hope to drop a question here ...

Is it mandatory to use synthetic oil for Myvi 1.3X? That is what one SC told my sister. Find that shocking. Maybe I am too low tech and not aware of the reason. So ...

Not necessary.

U can use semi 10w30 or 10w40 too

Engine feel good or not only u can tell

I heard p2 use 0w20 or 0w30

0w20 oil is to thin. I think not suitable for Malaysian weather

Thanks.

The SC insists on using synthetic oil for Myvi 1.3x.

Yes, better smoother ride wit synthetic oil, for the first few weeks.

Like to know who are now changing the engine oil every 12 months. Using conventional or synthetic oil?

My 5 yrs warranty will expire soon. As no more warranty rules to follow, plan to change engine oil every 12 months instead of every 6 months. Plan to use synthetic oil for the 12 months changeout. My mileage is about 10,000 per yr, half of the normal.

Just replaced my battery few weeks ago. My 2nd one failed earlier than my 1st one.

Read that BMW does not keep their battery in the engine compartment. Think that is due to the engine heat which is bad for the battery.

So think of making an aluminium plate to surround that battery to deflect some of the heat. Anyone has tried this before?

Care to share what brand you use for your 2nd and this new 3rd batteries?
*
All the same original Preve battery Rxxx, forgot the brand now.

P/S The 2nd battery died earlier partly due some problem with the car running the turbo cooling fan non stop.

Like to compare how many times do you start your car every day. Mine is about 15 times per day. Too many I think, bad for the battery. Yes, I know the alternator will recharge the battery but the frequent start will eat up the battery life.

P/S I mentioned about the battery life due to the engine heat earlier, Saw a report where they compared average battery life in north, middle and south america. You guess it, those in the northern part have a longest battery life and the ones in southern america have the shortest life.

Mine is the same as yours.  I only have 1 large dual speed radiator fan.

Sorry, I assume there is a smaller fan for the turbo part. let me check.

Like to know how many of Preve owners here have experienced a motor oil leak.

I had mine a few weeks ago, a major one. SC found out that it was the oil transfer hoses. See photo. I cannot find any leak hole there. Leak was major, think the hose clip came off and thus draining out the oil. Anyone with a similar experience here? Cost of repair was >RM200 for the 2 hoses and clips.

My car is 6 years old now. Expected the hoses and clips to last more than just 6 years.

if those are still stock hose and clip then expected to replace for 6 years bro.
i got mine replaced 4 years old down the road.

i think the reason it broke is because im using "S" mode a lot and driving / pushing too fast.
now driving a bit more gentle and avoid using that "S" mode.

Mine is 6 yrs old car but the mileage is only 70k. Things fail but this is out of the norm for me.

Saw a video on cleaning the air throttle to solve the high rpm problem when the motor is idle.

For Preve, this throttle valve is quite far down, hard to get to, right?

Anyone has done that cleaning and the result?

sometimes cannot look down on labor cost. that day i just replace my old reverse camera with a new one but need to modified the wiring abit, also took me 2 hours. camera cost only 5 ringgit.

Some water got into my reverse camera lens. Getting blurry images. Now want to replace that camera.

This time, I will put a sealant or tape around the lens ring to avoid water ingress with use.

I have similar issue. Go to SC and they recommend replacing the boot latch. Haven't changed yet  tongue.gif
I got this issue occasionally too. At first I thought the door switch is the culprit. Did self test and indeed the front passenger door switch was faulty. Replaced it. Works fine for a few weeks until it started again.
Fixed the problem myself after consulting Dr. Youtube.

Not 100% identical lock but same principle.

There is one moving part that will engage the lock when the lid is pressed down. This part needs some greasing for it to move freely.

Replacing it with a new one is not just a waste of money but also a waste of resources (metal, plastic, etc) while a simple fix can do the job.

Yes, that is the one. There is a latch on the other side. spray oil on the inside and use a small rod / screw driver to move it side way, so that it is easier for it to move.

Good luck!
