just to share with you guys,

i try to do the 1tank challenge

mileage 100K
tyre pressure (2x a month, 33psi)
with traffic and aircon
drivng speed, about 90-120kmh (usually 90 or 110kmh)

avg distance i got (3 runs for 3 weeks)
450Km with 8.6l/100km

result might varies from people to people because i start to refuel when the fuel meter reached 1 bar (about 100-120km left on the meter)

its a fun test, now i know preve FC is okay la but i wish it can tahan till 600KM
*
almost same mileage like me..

i will have around 50km+-km for each RM10 Ron95 petrol as of now..

Hey folks, so surprised to still see active discussion on Preve smile.gif

I am first batch owner of non-CFE Preve, have some questions to see if anyone has some idea/experience:

1. Sometimes after I turned off the car for 10-15 minutes, then ignite again, it feels like the ignition doesn't start properly, and the engine doesn't start properly, so I have to switch off and ignite again after waiting for a while. Any idea what could be the culprit? It's not the battery issue, I have already changed it and it still does the same sometimes.

2. The car sometimes feel like no power after stepping on the accelerator after full stop, especially when it is at the slope (for example queuing at the parking gate), anyone experience this? Any idea what causing it?

3. I have noticed sometimes 100km/h and more, the steering vibrates quite seriously - I remember back then some people say I should do a high speed alignment, but some say Preve cannot do it and will cause engine issue. Is there anyone has the same steering vibration issue at high speed, and is there any workshop that is really good at adjusting things like this in Klang Valley (KL or PJ)?

Thanks guys! Some of these I can ask the SC to fix it, but sometimes they might not know what's the proper part to look at/replace tongue.gif
*
for number 2, i think ECU issue.. i sent my car for service in april i guess and they helped me updated to latest ECU.. then i have same issue like you.. i need step further to make the car move from full stop condition..

number 3, try to check tyres condition and send to other tyre workshop and check balancing.. not alignment but balancing issue... if the tyres condition is not good and it might cause the vibration..

2nd hand price is cheap. Even if problems arise, it can be fixed with reasonable bill I guess.
Do u mind giving me an idea of those repairs bill would cost?
The only big bill will be the cvt box itself most probably right?

Wonder  what's the fuel consumption like on highway say 100-110kmh. Can achieve 16km/Liter?
*
my recent travel from penang to PJ to genting then genting to PJ to penang.. total about 750km in total.. cost me about RM130 ron95..

go time rm74, backtime rm55. all these drive mostly used auto cruise control at 110km/h..

assume 2.08/l, 62.5 litre for 750km.. it is about 12km/l only..

2nd hand price of preve is cheap, even though i want trade in my preve turbo in year 2014 (6 airbags, Vt3+, 107k mileage), only valued at RM28k like that.. so i think market value might be +-5k, 33k only..

I am having this problem as well. i noticed if put it in D mode and let it go without pedaling, my steering is straight center on straight road. once i step on the accelerator, i need to adjust steering slightly (about 10degree) to the right. is this similar to the issue u described on the tie rod?

p/s: so far, my tires wear n tear is perfectly normal. no uneven wear can be noticed.
*
yess.. need to find an experience people to adjust for u.. u may just describe to them that your car more to the left.. u want to have highway setting.. cause our road mainly design slight to left side for water draining purpose.. not alignment issue. i found one shop in my hometown area (Penang).. so no more this issue.. (problem reduced) not like when u take off your hand from steering, the car straight go to left obviously..

That's a recommendation, although the belt actual life span can last longer than that, but it's better to change it physically when it deteriorates.
Well to be fair, sometimes service rep would recommend lots of things that are not yet due to drive up sales. Happened to me a few times (not just Proton, even Mercedes as well).

their approach are prevention. just replace..

Which theoretically means well, but more often they would just insist on many things. For example (not at Proton), they asked me to change my tires which still had a few millimetres above the indicator notch, saying "we must change them before it reaches the indicator".

Just one example of the ridiculous cases, there are many legit considerations on the other hand. My point is users must be more savvy about their cars in and out so as not to get cheated.
*
Yes.. you're right. User have the right to cancel some items if feel unnecessary. Guys like us maybe ok. But majority users will not know. Just proceed and pay for it..

Ok. I found out wats the problem. my steering rack bushing worn out. if your steering is off center even after wheel alignment probably need to check the steering rack bushing too.
lucky it has nothing to do with any other major issue.
*
if that's the problem, ya just change that.. about RM1xx?! am i right?

hi guy, just changed to preve recently from my proton saga
i am having issue with smart tag, i place it at dashboard at the right side
my saga experience , smart tag failure rate is 1 in 30 times
my preve is 5 out of 10 times
so i wonder is that preve window that thick? or i need to place at different position?

note: the smart tag is the same device i used in saga
not tinted yet
the smart tag is held by some adhesive sucker at dashboard

thank you
*
the smart tag sensor at toll booth always at center of lane.. you should put at center instead of right side

anyone know how to open the box beneath push start / ticket holder to access the fuse box?
is the fuse size normal? or mini?
any idea how to route the wire out from fuse box for dash cam hard wiring?

thank you
*
hmm.. to open the holder is quite easy.. just squeeze the container.. then pull down.. fuse size normal and easy to get.. you may get a spare from mr diy store for different Amp.

Replying to my own thread in case anyone face the same issue
to access the fuse box the card box, simply squeeze inward from left-right at the inner wall while you open it like you want to put something in, and pull slightly toward you until it fold down and expose the fuze box.
once open you can clearly see how to route the thing as it have plently of space toward the undercariage of your sterling and also have hole to come out from bottom
the fuse size is mini

Question faced currently , if anyone is willing to help will be very appreciated

1.my starter fuse is missing, and the leg is missing too, i bought the fuse but cant insert because the leg(socket) aren't there, did anyone of you have starter fuse plugged in? it is located at driver seat compartment fuse box.

2.i have no idea which fuse to tap for constant power as the label doesn't tell which is the room lamp because i dont want to tap from important power source such as engine

Thank you all
*
do you have the manual book with you? try open and over there will show you each function for each slot.. what device are you going to tap on fuse for constant power?

yes i do , the manual doesn't do any explaination
the device is dashcam model blueskysea b1w
from my testing, the constant power for 10amp is
HVAC f22
RELAY COIL F23
FRONT WASHER F24

which all seem important to not touch
and most of the fuse look like it linked to important component anyway

Also for the F29 10amp (Starter)  do you have it plugged in? for my car it is missing and the fuse leg is not there too so i cant plug a new fuse, my car is experiencing hard to start symptom and i am suspecting it

thank you
*
Not really aware of it. As I did put 3 spare extra fuse inside the boxes.. but normally hard to start due to few problem. E.g. spark plugs, starter button set do have recalled before..

Tapped my fuse to HORN 20amp, so far working okay and i hope wont break my horn
Thank you for suggestion, my ODO is 80k since i bought second hand car i am not sure do they change it before and i think not since preve use iridium so it should last 80~100k right?
thinking to change at proton SC but rm32x + dont know how many labour is really expensive , could i just use copper?
the timing belt is around the corner too so wallet is on the line
*
if according to proton sc, iridium spark plug changed every 60km.. you may install proton to check the history records of services.. if you are CFE/Turbo variants, i guess they are using iridium only.. however, non CFE version are using normal spark plug and change for every 20k mileage..

I'm Turbo 2014 version with 6 airbags.. correctly clock at 125k km mileage.. changed my third sets of tyres yesterday upon 6 years of ownerships.. going to change my absorber soon..

the owner does provide me his service history book tho, unfortunately didnt mark down what has been done
*
Ouch.. by plat number also cannot? Hmm.. probably you have to go service centre to understand the things.

However it seem like your car didn't go to service center lately..

slowly buddy.. you cant change everything in once unless really got budget..

CVT gear oil, filter already RM6xx
timing belt changed?! another bomb..

then absorber full set including mounting?

tyres??

recently i just changed my tyre to goodyear assurance triplemax 2 which is budget one.. RM250 each.. previously i used michelin primacy 3ST about RM400 in penang.. primacy 4 is the latest version.. no budget also..

my car have been 6 years ady.. recap on whatever things happened to me..

Maintenance as per schedule 10k/6 months once.. 125k mileage now..

Major part broke down - Radiator fan.. Sometime function and sometime not.. change whole unit with bracket in proton. Total cost including labor 7xx.. Changed twice for gearbox mounting.. RM200 & below for each time.. no more vibration after change it

third set of tyres now.. first set stock tyres 45k.. 2nd set michelin primacy 3st 75k (RM400 each).. third set now is goodyear assurance triplemax 2 (RM260 each)..

Changed few bulbs before for testing.. philips, osram, LED.. now back to cheap bulb.. RM15 each.. no points to go for expensive one..

Added R3 skirting.. some steep area might have challenges, drive slowly can solve it..

Tinted - stock from EcoTint security film.. claimed warranty for rear windscreen once at 5th year before warranty expire.. FOC.. front windscreen tinted are lousy, very hot.. havent change it.. 4 side windows are still in good condition..

Insurance now for 6yrs old car, after NCD 55%, RM5xx for 32k agreed value.. Allianz.. Condition of my car still like new..

The features that i like:
1. Auto headlight
2. Auto wiper
3. Paddle shift (useful when drive through ipoh/genting highland.. downhill without press brake pedal)
4. Radio volume auto increase according to speed

The things i dont like:
1. GPS is not useful
2. Gearbox not super responsive.. need to slowly press pedal for accelerate.. but now used to it and drive gently.. no jerking issue (Except reverse and immediate to D..)

Hey guys, anyone here have experience with ECU tuning? Kinda intereated to do ECU remap, is it worth it?
*
this one you may go back to Proton centre to do it.. but if you are looking for tuning in external shop, it depend on your trust and skill of mechanic.. if u want more power, cant just doing 1 thing and increase the performance significantly..

basically i will advise not to do anything as it is a waste of money.. keep as stock as possible.. i will rather spend my money on better tyres such as michelin PS4 or Primacy 4..

the reason i said so is due to i have some members installed so much of stuffs just to try to improve performance.. yes, it do feel a bit difference.. but wont make your car fly in the end.. if you are Preve Turbo Premium of year 2014 basically much improved, no need do.. if yours are first batch between 2012 to 2013, maybe you can do..

Oo drex team. If you have extra money, of course you may try. At least he and his team did do research and testing always. If other shop then not recommended..

once u mod, it will be no turn back.. LOL

either you makeover exterior or interior (appearance) or invest in performance.. Latter is much expensive.. But may focus on good tyres, absorber, brakepad, rotor.. more crazy then go for engine perofrmance.. but overall need match together..

you cant have higher engine output but soso braking performance with cheap tyres..

Hi guys

3 months ago i just changed absorber rear and front with bushes and mount.A pair of tire last year. And another pair last week. Done the assignment n balancing of course

Today drive the car with a passenger at front. And a passenger on rear left. The steering wheel pull to the left and shaking when over 100kmph.

When i drive alone and with front passenger the issuer not so obvious. Is this coz of uneven weight in the car? (2 passengers on left)? Is this normal or not?

Before the rest passenger came in, i drive over a big pothole though, not sure if this causes the misaligned and unbalanced wheel though. Really vulnerable until like that meh?
*
sounds more like balancing stuffs.. not normal.. try go back to same tyre shop since just a week.. told them shaky when over 100kmph.. see whether can FOC
