Dear friends,
Lately been looking at used Passat CC 2.0 ; in general some of my friends are discouraging it due to its DSG issues.
I'm looking at used 2011-12 models.
Appreciate any comments from owners and sifu's here. Cheers

QUOTE(Jackofree @ Mar 18 2016, 12:48 PM) Hi bro, I am driving a passat cc 2.0 year 2011. Love every bit of this car although it is almost 5 years old and my warranty will be expiring soon, the looks and design of this car never gets old. Still my sexy beast In terms of cost of ownership, pretty much bulletproof except for the absorbers kinda expensive to replace. About Rm3.5k per pair but it last quite long cuz I replaced it at 4th year of ownership. In terms of handling, it can pretty much take any corner at high speed. Put it in S mode and you can really feel the push thanks to the DSG Thanks on your feedback...appreciated Jack SO far no issues with DSG? is it the dry or wet DSG? I'm getting which models uses the wet and dry. Does the later model like the 2013 model has the same DSG (6 speed)? Thanks again This post has been edited by VeeJay: Mar 18 2016, 03:21 PM

QUOTE(Jackofree @ Mar 18 2016, 04:16 PM) If you are talking about the 2.0TSI, it comes with 6 speed wet DSG. If you are talking about the 1.8TSI, it comes with the 7 speed dry DSG which is more problematic. My DSG so far still working well, no issues with it. If you want the 2.0 + 6 speed combo, you should be aiming year 2011 or older if my memory doesn't fail me, they came out with the facelift around 2012 which is the 1.8 + 7 speed combo. My advise is go for the 2.0 + 6 speed because its faster and more reliable Thanks...yup, sticking with 2.0 CC 6speed http://www.mudah.my/Volkswagen+Passat+CC+2...13-43022267.htm

Bought at rm148,888 in early 2012 . if its serving you well, might as well keep it....my guess it be around rm40-45k..thats the max...might be lower

QUOTE(hafizi01 @ Jun 6 2016, 01:21 PM) Thx for ur info.. Yes his warranty is out already.. And service centre asked for rm1k for the battery replacement alone so he's thinking to replace it with din/ns which is much cheaper.. Any other sifus can advice regarding this matter? Or know any place to find its replacement a bit cheaper? Prefer terengganu/pahang area.. Is this the battery you have? https://www.tayna.co.uk/D21-075-Varta-Silve...0060-P7743.html

QUOTE(hafizi01 @ Jun 8 2016, 12:20 AM) the spec is quite the same.. here's the actual battery if it might help: any idea guys? did you check with the local dealers? Maybe they are cheaper? https://www.facebook.com/vartabatterykualal...penangmalaysia/http://www.mudah.my/VARTA+bateri+kereta+de...rs-43404593.htmhttp://www.mudah.my/VARTA+battery+for+Peug...08-43584947.htmIf you really want a equivalent, check with local battery supplier, most likely its DIN66 /N70 This post has been edited by VeeJay: Jun 8 2016, 12:47 AM

QUOTE(hafizi01 @ Jun 8 2016, 12:23 PM) din66 should be equal by spec but dimension wise is different.. din66 is longer by more than inch.. cant fit in the battery housing.. din55 should be the right dimension but when he asked service centre regarding the matter they insist on finding the correct Ah which is 61 for his car otherwise it will give him some prob later on.. 55Ah from din55 is just not enuf as they say.. Correct, its better to get the existing one. Did you check with local supplier on the price (not SC), like the above link I provided? Or just import if local price is too expensive.

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Nov 5 2016, 10:54 PM) Just switched to winter tyres... It was already dangerously slippery... Just removing the old ones and mounting new ones costs RM 95, with balancing I spent 150. The tyres were already on the rim. lol...I dont think its fair to compare with conversion...should be on 1to1 basis

QUOTE(kadajawi @ Nov 30 2016, 04:18 AM) Yeah... there's a reason why people earn more in Europe (and can, kind of, afford to pay the high taxes!). IIRC a mechanic costs something like 50-100 Euro per hour... RM 250 to 500 or so. And no, he isn't earning that much. hmmm...I thought the average per hour in UK is about = 80 pounds/hr EU = 90 euro/hr US = USD 80/hr obviously there would be locations with higher price depending on locale and service quality/ trained-certified staff

Folks, any of you had taken extended warranty?
I know its still debatable, some say its not worth it, some of the claims would be rejected as it doesnt cover the entire assembly.
Would like to hear your thoughts. Cheers

QUOTE(ExCrIpT @ Apr 25 2017, 04:19 PM) hi guys, any third party workshop that's highly recommended to do servicing and check the parts in klang valley? preferably around pj area or OKR? heard that there's one in old klang road itself, tired of sending it to the SC d I'm looking for one as well...recently visit VAGTeknic at glenmarie...not bad and their pricing is almost 50% off from SC

QUOTE(ExCrIpT @ Apr 25 2017, 05:59 PM) did they do a good job with your car? 50% off from sc is alot already i guess. Looking for one that's familiar with VW cars especially the electronics as some icon lights been popping up on the dash board. Not all, but most of the parts that I ask them to quote was cheaper, it seems they carry OEM parts. They only work on VW and Audi mainly. http://www.vagtechnik.com.my/
