Can't comment on the dealer/SC as I don't live anywhere near there
But the new Tiguan uses the same EA211 engine as the Mk7 1.4 Golf which has been pretty much trouble-free compared to the prev twin-charge 1.4, and the tried-and-tested DQ250 6-speed DSG which is arguably better than the dry 7 speed.
My only advise is it would probably be a lil' underpowered? and being almost 200kg heavier than the Golf for the engine, the f/c probably won't be outstanding (although it's still considered an EEV here).
I like pretty much everything on the Mk7 Golf aside from a few quirks, and the new Tig is a bigger, space-ier (lol) ballooned-up Golf, with a whole lot more gadgets, if you opt for the Highline that is.
Seriously considering upgrading to the Tiguan, being the kids are growing up and all (and me getting old lol).. but I have never been a big fan of SUVs, even a compact one hmm. And somehow I think.. in a year or so it'll be updated with the better TSI EVO 1.5, too, so that gives me some doubt, as well. But perhaps I'll see what the end-year or next year clearance promo can offer, and decide on there
But it has no pano roof. I soooo want a pano roof
