The Polo 1.2 has the cheapest service schedule among all of the current VWs, but most in the market right now should be already out of warranty or close to, by now. But then the Polo 1.2 is a pretty nimble and fun car, especially in urban driving.

I've also went to 1U during the vw roadshow. I found out that the highline infotainment unit does not come with the 'app connect' feature. This feature is available inside the infotainment but vw is not enabling it for our market. Without this feature,  we would not be able to use Android Auto and apple car play!  The funny thing is,  B8 highline has this feature.

Oh really? Darn. But it already has Navigation at least, so it's not that bad, I suppose?

Well.. I haven't been able to get the App-Connect in the current FL Jetta to work, either. Apparently the range of supported phones is pretty limited.

Anyone got comment?

Can't comment on the dealer/SC as I don't live anywhere near there sad.gif

But the new Tiguan uses the same EA211 engine as the Mk7 1.4 Golf which has been pretty much trouble-free compared to the prev twin-charge 1.4, and the tried-and-tested DQ250 6-speed DSG which is arguably better than the dry 7 speed.

My only advise is it would probably be a lil' underpowered? and being almost 200kg heavier than the Golf for the engine, the f/c probably won't be outstanding (although it's still considered an EEV here).

I like pretty much everything on the Mk7 Golf aside from a few quirks, and the new Tig is a bigger, space-ier (lol) ballooned-up Golf, with a whole lot more gadgets, if you opt for the Highline that is.

Seriously considering upgrading to the Tiguan, being the kids are growing up and all (and me getting old lol).. but I have never been a big fan of SUVs, even a compact one hmm. And somehow I think.. in a year or so it'll be updated with the better TSI EVO 1.5, too, so that gives me some doubt, as well. But perhaps I'll see what the end-year or next year clearance promo can offer, and decide on there thumbsup.gif

But it has no pano roof. I soooo want a pano roof sweat.gif

Even the prev Tig 1.4 comes with 6-speed wet DSG here, people kept forgetting that.

Went to Volkswagen Glenmarie with my Dad today. And they totally helped me decide whether to get a VW.
Hell NO.
Made an appointment for 1pm and when we arrived, the sales lady was with another customer. That's fine, we'll wait. The showroom was nice.
But after half an hour, nobody bothered to check up on us. The staff were just walking around, not even bothering to assist us. No can I help you, let me show you around, which car you interested in.
Nothing. Just stare at us.
So if this the service before you buy a car, I can only imagine what it would be like after.
Maybe I don't look rich enough for them, I don't know.  But if that's the case, fine. I'll just take my business elsewhere.
In case you're wondering, I was  wearing a t-shirt and jeans, and my dad was wearing a normal shirt and slacks. WTF?
*
Wellll I guess that happens every where, bro. I recall on one of my visits to my dealer - another customer was wearing only kain sarong and plain white t-shirt, was treated just fine by one of the sales lady and proceeded to book a Passat - he then told me he just retired lately, was looking for a comfy D seg sedan, and went to a Honda showroom earlier with the Accord on his mind, but wasn't even entertained because of his clothing. I've met my fair share of bad sales/after sales personnel, too. You can, raise this in their Facebook page. Maybe you can net a better offer/promo, who knows.

Apparently no more of that Start-Stop thing either. Well the only thing it's good for is killing batteries, anyway..

That's good to hear. Especially when the price is actually $1k. Still gonna wait for next year and look for clearance units, I might.

Not really a fan of the current Beetle, even though my father owns 1 - but afaik the 1.2 is generally problem-free, has decent punch, and good fc. For early batches I think the issue is they're still on early revisions of the dreaded DSG7, other than the common ABS sensor I heard owners are lamenting about, and the somewhat.. problematic door? Probably being a little too heavy, perhaps..? And I see owners slamming shut the door using the windows, not holding on the door itself. A no-no for any frameless window car door, in my book.

may I ask previous tiguan 2.0 facelift 2012 or 2011 is 6 speed or 7 speed. rather confusing info I gathered across the net.
thanks in advance.

Afaik all the prev version of Tiguan 2.0 facelift runs on the DQ500 7-speed wet DSG, while the pre-facelift only has a 6-speed auto, iinm on that one. The 1.4 that was introduced later got the 6-speed DSG, like the current latest model.

QUOTE(numbbell @ Apr 12 2017, 01:44 PM)
okay thanks. I thought 1.4 is on 7 speed. have been contemplating between cc 2.0 and tiguan 2.0.
1 more question - mechatronic failure percentage high or luck base?
*
CC 2.0, you mean Passat CC? Becuase the CC only comes in 1.8 here, in 2 trims Standard/Sport.

As for the mecha thing.. I can't really give you a statistic or what not. Sure the early batch/ver of the 7 speed dry DSG has been likened to a time bomb, but I think they've rectified it over time with new mecha/software etc, and afaik all the recent 7 speeds are okay. The 6 speed has been generally deemed reliable, as long as you stick with the service maintenance. Not that I haven't heard of any failed 6 speed because I have, but I suppose if you count by percentage.. yea it's lower..?

The only thing I don't like about VWs with the 6 speed is uh, the expensive major service (because of the DSG alone is what, 1k smth) + engine oil/filters/plugs can easily cost north of 2.5k - that's why VW intended the 7 speed to be used on the more common models, due to the lower maintenance cost - it has no maintenance cost in the service schedule! Although recently I noticed some service centers started to add fluid change for the 7 speed, too.

Whoa, the Highline Tiguan got like 2+ months waiting list. There's never been a waiting list for a VW before. Not bad, VPCM.

Yea I agree. I've said it time and time again, but the service cost for the Polo Sedan/1.6 is very high, contrasting it being an entry-level VW. Not exactly trouble free either, but I suppose generally more reliable than its more expensive siblings..?

But if outside should be more cheaper of course, I suppose. Can't really comment on that.

about the service, already expecting the price at SC for conti car. But if polo 1.6 drivetrain is reliable enough with simple old tech, just going to send it to my usual workshop after first service at SC if we're buying it.

even my current conti, small stuff like sensor/ replacement parts, just source from halfcut/ aliexpress / ebay.

prefer to get new persona/ used forte, but wife really likes the polo sedan... no idea why. My only worries is the drivetrain.
*
Well I've never heard any complaints about the drivetrain from my acquaintances that used it (probably because it's technically a Toyota 6-speed..?), but other niggles/small probs are still there. Nothing as bad as the TSI/DSG ones, though.

Well for stuff like the brake pad/disc I think there's really little reason for you to go back to the dealership.

And the early batches of the 1.4 twincharged engines suffer from some major issues, too. I've had several acquaintances with whole engine replacement, back then.
