Tried searching for a thread on Phantom 3 but could not find one so trying to start one then. Let me know if there is already an existing discussion - I may have overlooked. The aim of this discussion thread is to build a local community around this RC camera and share tips and tricks among users.

**NEWS UPDATE**
- Firmware update v1.6.0040 for Phantom 3 released with new features!
user posted image

Introduction to Phantom 3:
Official website

Latest firmware (for P3 Professional):
Official firmware

Anyway, for those of you who are either new to DJI Phantom 3 "Aerial Camera" or contemplating to get one, the new DJI Phantom 3 has 3 lines - Standard, Standard 4K and Advanced/Professional. The Standard model lacks VPS (visual positioning when there's no GPS available), Lightbridge and access to GLONASS satellites. Both Advanced and Professional have all the above - the difference is that the Advanced can record 2.7K videos whereas the Professional can record in 4K.

For NEW USERS:
Before you jump into flying the Phantom, the first thing you should do is to UPDATE the aircraft, RC controller and smart battery firmware. Ensure both your RC controller and Phantom 3 are fully charged (do not charge both at once to prevent the charger from overheating -DJI's FAQ advice). Some good guide on how to update firmware below:
Firmware update guide

Note: Make sure the small foam piece behind the gimbal and camera cover are removed prior to updating.

Once you have updated the firmware, here is a basic list of what should be done to setup your new Phantom 3:

Note: if your smart device does not have cellular service it may be best to first setup your P3 in a location (back yard, etc.) where there is a wireless network - the DJI Pilot app requires you to login with DJI and also may require some software and firmware updates. After setup, you can then take the P3 to a larger field for your actual first flights.

1. Download and Install the DJI Go app on your phone or tablet.

2. Mount your smart device in the included holder on the RC controller and connect it to the controller using either the supplied USB cord (android) or your own lightning connector (iOS). Make sure the 3-position switch on the top left of the RC controller is in the rightmost position (P-GPS).

3. Remove gimbal lock and lens cap (if included) – check that the micro SD card is in your camera.

4. Turn on the RC controller (first) then the Phantom - both are turned on by pressing the respective power button once then holding the button until the device turns on. In short, TAP then HOLD button.

5. Open the DJI Go app - this should guide you through the steps required to register and update your Phantom 3. A guide for your viewing pleasure:
Linking DJI Pilot/Go App

6. Calibrate compass on the Phantom (the DJI Pilot app should guide you through this step).

7. Activate the “Camera” screen in the DJI Pilot app. A banner across the top center should inform you of the status of the aircraft - “Safe to Fly-GPS” means the aircraft is ready. Check the map on your smart device to assure that the home point is where you are currently located.

8. Spend some time flying in the simulator that comes with the DJI Pilot App (under Help). Familiarise yourself with the controls - both on the RC controller and your phone/tablet screen, before taking the Phantom out for a real spin. For beginners, always bring along a friend to be your spotter to help watch out for hazards or obstructions.

Phantom UAV Repair Services
Phantoms, like all airborne UAVs, are fragile machines and Malaysia being a relatively young market lacks after-sales service. If you crash or damage your Phantom 2 or 3, there is still hope! Good service and reasonably priced. Check link below for more info:

Great to see another owner! Perhaps we can organize weekend meet-ups when we have critical mass. Let's start by compiling a list of owners. wink.gif

Perhaps kayFX can answer this since he owns a Professional. There are samples you can find online but most have been downgraded to 1080p:

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z4kTNqSZECE

The lens are essentially the same (Adv vs Prof) and there is minimal distortion (less post-production hassle). A big upgrade from Phantom 2 Vision+. Note that 4K footage requires a reasonably powerful PC for post-editing due to the large amount of data to handle and render. I have tried post-production on 1080p footage.

In terms of workflow, after recording, you'll need to transfer the videos/photos saved in the memory card of the Phantom to your PC before doing any post-production. The controller does save a copy of the streamed footage but in low quality (some artifacts are present so only useful if you want to quickly share online, not for professional work).

Nicely done, uraki! There's this miniature feel to the scale of things. Have you tried Course Lock under IOC (Intelligent Orientation Control)? Less worry on the flight path and more focus on the framing of your shot.

I'm also a Vegas user! hehe

27 minutes? What is your underload voltage per cell after land?
I usually fly until cells down to 3.6-3.8v. I believe average flight time around 15 minutes.

Here's my video to share smile.gif

Hi guys, hope you don't mind if i join in, but i have DJI PHANTOM V1.1.1. upgraded to FPV still active and healthy doing some aerial shots. Shots taken using GoPro HERO4. Can't afford for P3 yet but the V1 does the job well after full year of activity.

Here my blog about it and some galleys:

Thanks, i'm just doing as fun and hobby. I don't make money taking aerial photography. I just like to be in the sky and lepak around only hehehe.. Everytime i finish building stuff, flying and other things i always blog, share my resources to help other fellow hobbyist. Its r/c club thing. Sharing is caring. Sometimes help local do some aerial stuff, teach people how to fly and fun gatherings freely. Its things i do to make my self happy. biggrin.gif
Cost wise this hobby i don't spent much, i go around find somebody's second hand junk, recycle it and make it work again. I bought my DJI Phantom and other flying stuff second hand after someone crash it lol.

I don't make custom apps but i just download it, use some open source apps and mix around some hardware to make it work. You can visit my website (http://www.supermotoxl.com) where you can find documentation how to build your own super cheap quadcopter that can intelligently "follow me" & "selfie" as you walk around and took great aerial photography which made out of throw away box foam and bamboo sticks costs under USD$100 of parts.

New pilot reporting here with P3 Pro.

Just to ensure, is there any regulation or restriction to fly in Malaysia other than nearly the airport?

Such as flying at KLCC tower. TQ

i've seen a video of some guy flying an inspire at klcc.
However since these things do fail. I would advise against flying in high populated areas.

I would strongly advise against flying in populated areas unless you're very, very experienced. Any mistake you make can result in the damage of property or hurt people or even cause accidents. The flight near KLIA already raised a lot of eyebrows and DCA is already starting to regulate. Current policy as follows:

http://aip.dca.gov.my/aip%20pdf%20new/AIC/AIC%20200804.pdf

Best to fly in open area and when requested by authority to leave an area, please comply with a smile. Let's not give all pilots a bad name.

Only revamp UI? No new features? Kinda disappointing.

The flight simulator on DJI Pilot is only available on IOS version, android version does not have it....
Hopefully DJI GO's flight simulator will be available on both OS.

Just wondering, is there a meetup or community gathering for the Phantom or similar drones? Thinking of seeing it in action smile.gif
*
Hi wKkay, DJI is planning an official event in KL this coming 26 September (Saturday). This will be a good opportunity to get hands-on experience and hear from the experts. Look out for updates on the following link:

http://event.dji.com/newpilot2015/#apply

Unofficially, we can plan to have our own gatherings (I'm thinking once we can identify 10 Phantom pilots in this group, we can start thinking about holding such meet-ups). It will be good to meet to discuss ideas and perhaps work on mini projects, and spread the awareness of unmanned aerial cameras. This will be the future of things to come - safer, cheaper, faster.

Only revamp UI? No new features? Kinda disappointing.

The flight simulator on DJI Pilot is only available on IOS version, android version does not have it....
Hopefully DJI GO's flight simulator will be available on both OS.
*
What's new:

1. Brand new UI
2. Record and upload aerial videos, and sync them to your mobile device in real-time
3. Upload of your artwork in one click. Access and share them anytime
4. Single videos can also be shared and there are more video templates to choose from
5. New photo editing features including color adjustments, cropping, watermarks and filters
6. New ‘Explore’ page which let’s you interact with other aerial photographers and learn about DJI’s latest news;
7. Added DJI BBS to allow you to share ideas with others
8. Support for the M100 Onboard SDK activation;
9. Bugs fixes for improved stability

from now onwards remote control can be updated using the apps

android version coming soon and hope they will include the simulator as well.. thumbup.gif

Not bad, but most of the new features does not help in piloting or taking video/photo.
I hope they will add the option to allow manually changing the camera aperture soon.

The standard version does not have light bridge, glonass, or VPS.
But the price is very tempting, other high end consumer drones will be very hard to compete.

I'm super happy that DJI finally includes POI, follow me and waypoints in next firmware update.
I was looking for a good 3rd party apps to enable these features, now no more headache. thumbup.gif

i bet u can upgrade with spares from advance/professional version.. they do have live view but not sure if it a lightbridge connection or a direct wifi tethering with mobile device.. connection for live view is using 2.4Ghz frequency and the RC is using 5Ghz frequency.. the remote is same as phantom 2 Vision+.. and recording 2.7k video should be on advance version not on the standard.. doh.gif recording bitrate between this two is the same at 40 Mbps which make more sense to put it on advance version..

currently there is one 3rd party apps that does all that.. but sadly its for phantom 2 vision+ and its not free.. their apps base on SDK release by DJI and free if you know how to make own apps..

There are several parties selling here at the moment, listed earlier in this forum. Price is going up because of the weakening MYR but you are looking at around 4.5k for the advanced model.

Mass drop was selling it for USD 800 a few days back.
Yes. USD800. Even with the horrible exchange rate, it's still ok.

I added Multiwii Pro flight controller instead of NAZA to my DJI Phantom to acquire The follow Me and Waypoint, but before that i tested on my DIY home made foam quad made from wltoys V666 frame which i called it FPV-350 to safely test this feature before i put on my DJI Phantom. Here the video to test the flight controller board...quite hilarious actually but it works:

Nice... looking forward to more shots from you, guru! Here's a snapshot of what I've taken with my P3 so far. Quality not top-notch as I recorded in 720x24fps. Bad idea as it gets blurry when the aircraft moves too fast. Lesson for myself - record in full HD and 48 or 60 fps, then post-process to 24 fps later for that "movie feel".

I'm on the DJI site right now and it says free shipping with DHL.
So when I order from DJI site, I will only be charged 6% of the total purchase price when my item arrives?
No additional customs or duties to be collected?

Can anyone else confirm this as well?

Thanks in advance.

anything bought online from outside malaysia will be charge of 6% GST/ Custom charge from total purchase when it arrive.. DHL might call you to inform of the 6% charges when the item arrive.. Supposedly only the 6% GST. Make sure they do not ask for more.

Check if they correctly categorise the drone as 9503.00.990.

i don't have any buzzing sound.. try to calibrate IMU.. buzzing sound usually related to gimbal motor not properly balance..

Hi guys, did any of you face problems when importing dji phantom drones into Malaysia?

Currently I'm facing issue on my drone ordered via DJI website, the DHL person told me my drone is being withheld by custom as they need AP permit before releasing the drone.

Do I really need a permit? I know we have to register with DCA, but importing drone requires AP permit especially for dji phantom 3?

Interesting case, I thought since DJI website allow shipping to Malaysia, supposedly won't have these issues.
May I know how may drones are you ordering from DJI?

found out the permit that DHL meant is the SIRIM permit , just applied for it (its around 37.10rm), hopefully it is approve soon then I can get the drone.

I'm just ordering one P3P , not even inspire which is far bigger, so should be ok.

Keep us posted on the outcome. This may benefit future owners who wish to order direct from DJI. Thank you and keep sharing!

Better wait for khtan2000 feedback on his purchase from DJI website, he mentioned DHL asked him to get a SIRIM permit.

I would suggest all to view this vid, on what to do if the winds becomes strong and taking our drone away from us.

Do take note some ppl commented that in such cases, first thing to do is lower the attitude and manually fly the drone back, because winds normally not as strong at lower altitude.

Secondly, do not use RTH to fight strong winds as RTH has speed limit and high limit, change to atti mode and full throttle would be a better option.

sorry for late reply. got my drone 2 days ago , haven't fly yet as need source for tablet

If buy from DJI directly, DJI will cover the DHL transportation and GST/VAT fees (it is stated in the website), on your side you need to pay for SIRIM permit at rm37.10 (around 1-2 days approval depends on branch). SIRIM will send the approval via email to you, and you forward it to DHL. Then DHL will settle the rest and you can wait for your drone.

Best if you wait DJI website discount/promo , I think now got promotion on standard, advance and 4k model (not pro version) .
If you got a student email account , you get additional 10% discount.

I got mine with free bag and another battery(after minus off the 10% discount).

you also need to monitor the currency exchange hmm.gif , dont buy when USD is alot higher, else you will pay more.

the free bag is during xmas promotion till 31 dec 2015, the current ongoing promo is just the discount on the phantom.

If the edu.my is invalid , perhaps you contact DJI online support ? just show them your uni everything should be ok i guess. I'm using USM without any edu on it but seems they recognize it so it works for me directly.

this time i only need to pay SIRIM , dont need to pay anything else like GST/tax. I think might be due to the import code then custom require permit. Depends on where you purchase and shipping company.

The price for the Inspire 1 with 2 controllers and other freebie stuff is tempting but still too expensive.

Guys I never flew a Drone but I have some photography background. I look forward to get the DJI 3 advanced because I can add filters.
Should I buy from DJI website or local distributor.. The thing I am concerned is... if buy from local distributor, is it easier to claim warranty and help me set up, because as far as I know, DJI customer support is shitty...
The local distributor here selling for 4.8k and if buy from DJI directly is 4.3k..

Any advices is helpful!! biggrin.gif

4.3k? Is that a typo? DJI website is USD 799 and with today's 4.13 exchange rate, that's 3.3k. Less 1k than what you quoted.

If indeed 3.3k from online vs 4.8k with local distributor, I'll just go with 3.3k and pocket the 1.5k savings.

at first the DHL cs call me asking me to pay rm200 plus for tax. But as mentioned earlier by khtan2000 we do not have to pay any tax and DJI website mentioned it too.

5. Do I need to pay customs and import charges for my order?

You already paid it when you purchased our products on our online store while the customs fee & VAT are already included in our product price. However, you may be asked to pay a charge by local shipping agents. If you encounter this situation, we strongly advise you not to pay them, and contact our online sales support at onlinesales@dji.com. Dedicated staff will be available to help you.
.

Cut story short, i told the woman on the phone that i paid for the tax already and ask them to recheck and at the same time i contact DJI live chat about this issue and they answer me promptly and settle everything for me. I was lucky enough Sirim didn't check my stuff if not i have to fork extra money. brows.gif

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to confirm. What is written on DJI website does not necessarily apply with our Kastam. So it's good that you confirmed that what DJI has mentioned to be accurate.

Errr, hard for me to say as I started from extreme way building own multi rotor and fly manually.back to the question, this thing just like auto car packed with fancy feature inside but don't take my word for granted, haha. I suggest you to watch Dji tutorial video on YouTube first.

Most of the case,

1) ESC board burn.
2) Casing cracked.
3) Props broken.

I have tried to service my own drone (P2), it's easy. laugh.gif

Just ordered P3 Standard via DJI Store. Can't wait for it to arrive!

Any idea how to apply for SIRIM (RM37.10) as mentioned by few forumers here in order for DHL to deliver to me in KL?

I'm planning to arrange a bulk order of phantom 3 batteries. It's $160 in DJI store. I have 10% code, which makes it $144 (x4.3 ~ RM619). I can't buy alone cos it'll be below min $150 for free delivery.

Please let me know who is interested to join the order. Don't think I'll order like a lot maybe cap at 10 units? Takes about 3-5 days to arrive to KL after confirmed order at website.

Forex wise, I'll follow bank's daily rate on the day of purchase. Not taking any profit, just Wanna get the free delivery and see if anyone Wanna join in.

Let me know thanks.

The P3 Standard is still $499. But if you view the website from Malaysia region is $530 due to tax and custom fees.

Interested in investing in a P3A.

Does it have any sort of obstacles avoidance function similar to the P4?

Just bought the Phantom 3 Advanced from DJI. I have no prior flying experience with quadcopter. Anything that I should look out for.
Regarding the SIRIM thing that you all talked about, do we really need to apply for the permit? Last check, permit was not required a few month ago when I imported Ninebot balance scooter from China.

None. As long as you fly safely and away from objects, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

I thought VAT and import tax are already include in the selling price, no? I know that anything above RM500 will be subject to GST, however, if the seller promised to handle this for us, we are not suppose to pay anything. Like my previous purchase of Ninebot scooter, the seller handle everything for me. I just wait to receive the goods with no interference with custom or shipper.

Also, the SIRIM cert. How to apply for it? This is something new to me. I do import a lot of gadget from Amazon and eBay but this is new to me.

GST i think already done by the shipper..

this is a few page back by one of user who buy from DJI

QUOTE(khtan2000 @ Jan 16 2016, 01:52 PM)
sorry for late reply. got my drone 2 days ago , haven't fly yet as need source for tablet

I got mine with free bag and another battery(after minus off the 10% discount).

you also need to monitor the currency exchange  hmm.gif , dont buy when USD is alot higher, else you will pay more.

hope this help.. i think you need to call sirim or visit their website..

Thanks for the info. By the way, can we get the shipper to settle the SIRIM for me or I have to do it myself? I would rather pay a bit more for them to settle it for me.

U might lose signal, which triggers return to home. That is, if you set it to rth instead of hover before takeoff.

Update:
My unit already arrived in Penang custom and ready for clearance. However, they are asking for AP permit + SIRIM:shock: . Funny that we need an AP to import 1 quadcopter. Anyway, I have contacted AnsarComp to apply the permit on my behalf. I will just paid for their services.

Same here, first time flyer here. If you don't mind to fork out some extra cash, get the Phantom3 Advanced just like me. I was initially wanted to get the professional version. However, since I am a novice flyer, I don't want to risk destroying the pricier Professional than the Advanced.
Planned to get the professional once I have familiarized and mastered with the control.

Yeah haha. But great footage nonetheless. I think it's probably something to do with your settings. Try to tone down the default sharpness at -3. And try again haha

Update on my experience importing this bird.
GST and custom fees was taken care off by the shipper. However, I have required to get the AP permit and SIRIM sticker on my own. I resort to AnsarComp to help me to obtain the permit and SIRIM.
They are very fast and effective however very costly as well, RM259 in total compare to RM106 if I apply thru. SIRIM myself. So, for anyone wanted to import this bird recommend to do it yourself. You can save RM100++ by doing so.
Anyway, received my bird this morning. Now looking thru. all the tutorial and pre flight checklist. A bit nervous after looking thru. DJI forum as there are a few cases of Phatom flew away and crash or mid air loosing power. Also, it seems like strong wind will also easily cause the bird to crash.
All pros here, have any advises for a newbie like me?

Look for tutorial videos and such. And try basic flying maneuvers at an open area until you're confident to bring it farther and other places.
It's an easy flyer so enjoy the experience rclxms.gif

Flew my maiden flight this morning during Cheng Ming. It is quite easy, I flew 2 times and landed twice without any problem at all. Captured a few photo and the quality is quite good, video wise also not bad.
However, when the drone was too far off, it is very difficult to get your orientation. I am using my 5.7" LG V10 phone to connect to my drone, it can be a bit too small to view especially directly under sun light.

I fly it too near to the tree. I try to "tarik" the drone far from the tree but due to the GPS function which will make the drone hover at the same location, the drone fly back to the location which is near to the tree. And "BANG" to the tree branches and . . . cry.gif

Snap shot i took this evening when I flew my P3S. biggrin.gif

Phantom 4 going to be sold this month at Harvey Norman, Machines and All IT Hypermarket. Retail is RM 6570 including GST.

Lazada is currently having pre-order at RM 6399 with free extra battery. Scheduled to arrive April 28th.

Anybody having a go at Phantom 4? Thoughts?

Hey guys, any comments on the shell cracks on the P3A/P using the old 2312 motor vs. the new 2312A motor?

DJI website on the motor changes here:
https://www.dji.com/newsroom/news/compatibi...dvanced-motors1

Appreciate your feedback.

Thx

Hi sifus,

need some guidance on the purchase of used drones here.
any idea what should i check/look out for when buying a used P3 Pro drone ? How do I know if it's a real DJI product or it's an OEM version (if there are any) ? Are there such things like fake gimbal/camera etc in the market ?

Thx !

You really have to choose wisely , see which u want to choose , after sale services or cheap price.

If you are in Puchong ,
Best way is to Visit Authorized DJI SUPPLIER - MARCH EQUIPMENT AT SETIAWALK .
Deal with them before with my P2 , extremely friendly and nice to help me altho i just spend RM80 over thr .

or you can look for DRC JEFF at Facebook .

Did you manage to buy original DJI propeller from Taobao?
The official DJI store in Taobao told me they cannot ship propeller to Malaysia, they sell within China only...

[Update] Found some other Taobao sellers who is able to ship to Malaysia, so it seems only the official DJI Taobao store unable to ship to Malaysia...
I'm planing to place order within these few days, let me know if you wish to share the shipping cost.

Had this issue before, can connect after a few attempt, but no camera view, take photo also nothing registered.
Almost send back the drone for warranty, luckily found out it's my corrupted stock microSD card the culprit!
You still can read & write to the card from PC, it just won't save the photos on the drone

changed to a new card and everything it's working perfectly.

IMO, last few rules are stupid
30m radius take off? really?
50m radius from any building? that's another stupid rules

if flying a RC heli, probably, but a highly accurate drones like DJI is plain stupid doh.gif doh.gif

sounds like this sets of rules are written by someone that knows nothing about current state of drones.

Congrats!

Just got back my P3A from DJI. Had problem with compass. Take off in GPS mode, then suddenly changed to atti and drifts. Seems like DJI didn't inspect the aircraft since I bought aircraft only to replace my crashed Adv. Paid quite a sum to send it back to China using DHL. Luckily it flew as it should now.

On other note, a friend who bought a Pro, had problem. It changes altitude for 2-3m when release sticks. Sent back to a local seller where he bought it. Was offered a P4 and add cash, he took it. Few days of flying, same thing happen. It raises altitude now. And was offered a Yuneec Typhoon H add a little bit cash. He is still thinking rclxms.gif

Hi guys, a friend of mine bought a basic. He's an apple fan. So his phone, tablet etc are all Apple. Cut the story short, his iPhone 6s wifi range is quite short. 200meters distance. Whereas my s7 gets to almost 400m. He even bought an extender for that.
Any ways to fix this issue without buying new ones?

It is something like this...after logging in the WiFi password , the phantom device disappear from my phone screen. Seems like connection issue.

My friend have tried for 2 days and even consulted with the distributor but to no avail.

To Phantom Advanced pilot,

Can I ask the short cable supplied in the box which hooked up between the controller and our tablet is of what type?
Say I am using iPad mini? Do I have to buy a separate cable?

Thanks

To Phantom Advanced pilot,

Can I ask the short cable supplied in the box which hooked up between the controller and our tablet is of what type?
Say I am using iPad mini? Do I have to buy a separate cable?

Thanks
*

yeap.. as far as I remember that cable provided is usb mini for android phone. for apple product, just hook up your own usb cable.

Maybe I get the Advanced model... rclxub.gif

Not sure about other Android devices, but most of my P3S friends didn't have problems with their androids.

Calibrate IMU right after you start up Phantom. But not after a flight or so. SOme resorted keeping their phantom inside refrigerator rclxms.gif , but I normally placed mine inside a cool room before calibrating mine.

Tempted to get 1, but the thought of accidentally losing a RM2-3k+ gadget falling off a mountain/cliff/ocean during flight due to so many variables is a huge wallet blocker for me lol

I just calibrate my IMU at room temperature. Normally warm up will reduce significantly after calibrating. Don't forget to restart Phantom after calibration.

Hi guys,

Finally got my hand on Advanced model plus 1 extra battery today.
Now studying very hard the manual and all the materials supplied.

Checked for any missing parts or dents but of course there are none .
Hopefully can try out tomorrow.

Anyone can recommend a backpack costing less than RM200.00?

Thanks...

Just let Phantom hover for a while after you takeoff just to see if everything is good. no erratic behavior, stable gps, drifting etc. I made a rookie mistake when I bought my replacement P3A. Though it was super stable right from the factory. First flight, takeoff from a windy hill, compass error occured right after that and having a hard time bringing it close because gps was disable and flying in Atti.

After a while, try to fly in Atti mode. Will help a lot in an event of GPS related problems.

Total I got 2~3 times IMU, because seen nothing diff doh.gif
My quad are work well..but I only fly 30m height about 50m away. so far no serious drifting or not hover in place.

GPS work well to. max can get 13 gps at open area.

And I didt upgrade the firmware to avoid common P3s problem.

DO you experience DJI Naza Lite controller?
Because I got a DIY quad but got problem with it.

If no erratic behaviour occurs when hovering, IMU is good. No need to recalibrate unless after fw updates.

Sorry no experience with Naza, only APM, Naze and CC3D tongue.gif

Hi guys, a friend of mine bought a basic. He's an apple fan. So his phone, tablet etc are all Apple. Cut the story short, his iPhone 6s wifi range is quite short. 200meters distance. Whereas my s7 gets to almost 400m. He even bought an extender for that.
Any ways to fix this issue without buying new ones?

Btw if youre looking for a microsd, do checkout my siggy.

Does the flying distance depends on phone wifi range? i tot its only depends on the RC antenna hmm.gif hhmm.... anyone can share some lights on this?

Fine. I fix the Naza-M Lite problem and it fly...working well.

But how to fix the P3S signal problem.

In straight line slow fly forward. the FPV screen(phone) losing signal。
How to solve. My Phantom still stock FW not yet upgrade any FW.

I will prefer not upgrade, because 9/10 at DJI forum meet upgraded lose more signal

i stand right bottom right side of the camp.
when i fly forward, about 5meter from ground.
I fly to the dividing section still follow right side (not under)

That range about 25~35meter from my standing point.
And my device are almost losing connection like 80s antenna tv.

My phone are Z5 Premium.

Hi fellow experienced pilots,

Today was my 1st trial of flying my drone and being a trial & error learning,I have committed few common errors.
1. forgot to take off the small foam protecting the gimbal/camera (did not notice it was even there)
2. it did not hover but overturned,
3. one of the propeller came off flying but harmlessly
4. did not understand properly the manual about the propeller marking e.g. the black colour top was meant to be screw to the black screw. I screwed all the 4 same colour (silver top) propellers..maybe this the reason it will not hover..

Then it ask me to upgrade the aircraft firmware otherwise it will be inconsistent and etc.

Now,watching the youtube tutorial on how to upgrade the firmware..

Anyone would like to comment or put in some suggestios to help inexperienced pilot here is very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

p.s. what is the name of the program that open the file after unzipping. My Window based lappie seems to lack this program.

Sorry bout what happened but do read and watch tutorials bfore flying. Wrong rotation for two props(all silver props attached) that is why it overturn. Even though the props are self lock( meaning it will tighten when motors turned), but a good habit is to tighten the props by hand just a bit. There's a marking on each props, tighten and loosen so keep in mind about that.

Hi guys,

Finally today managed to take off and landing smoothly.
Wah. .I am quite thrilled and happy with it..

Then a family bought in their black colour drone, maybe it is Solo but did not have a chance to exchange greeting as rain dropped in fast..

Hope can meet them up..

Hi,
I just got myself a Leagoo water proof shell for RM160.00 plus from Lazada, cover for controller and just order a sunshade.

Fitted in snugly 1 Phantom Advanced, 1 controller,1 charger, 2 batteries, 4 pairs of prop

Welcome onboard.

Thanks. Wow, backpacks are cheap now huhu. I think I bought mine around 300 for third party bags last time before I change to DJI ones.

Don't have to. Just make sure your lipos are about 30% capacity. If you have P3 backpack it would be easier. Just handcarry them. Only sometimes they will ask you about the content but no problems bringing it on board.

Not sure about international flights. But domestically no problems so far.

Hi guys, just wanna ask any of you bought the DJI phantoms (any version) directly from the official website? I realized it's significantly cheaper to buy directly from them even after the conversation.....If you guys did, any issue? Problem? International warranty?

Lucky you biggrin.gif . Mavic is tempting. Going to sell my p3a soon. No plans to get any gps drones yet as I'm still flying race quads. But rather than let it sitting at home, better sell it off first.

Yup. Not much different. Your answer was exactly the same with a forumer at Reddit. Asked me to upgrade to P4 or Mavic instead of changing the antenna 😆

A lot of things can affect P3S wifi range. I diy'ed windsurfer, I did get a little bit of range but not much. Installed ARGTek range extender, range even worse than standard antennas. bruce.gif

No problem for International as well, no need permit. Airlines are more concern about the batteries than your phantom.. To make things easier for u and for them, remove the batteries and keep in handcarry luggage. Thats all thumbsup.gif

Actually, it depends on the airline. Some airlines are stricter than others, some require you to fully discharge your batteries before boarding, some don't even let you on the plane if you're carrying more than one of them

This and the fact that there isn't an easy way to charge your batteries on the go while traveling (I mean, who wants to carry around a car battery or solar cell, make USB charging happen!) kinda put me off drones for the time being sweat.gif

DJI Phantom series are for aerial photography purpose, don't buy if you're not interested in photography.
Maybe you can buy a normal quadcopter instead, fully manual control and harder to learn, but I found them a lot more fun once you master it.

i think most likely it is course lock : http://www.dji.com/intelligent-flight-modes#gsLock

where after you set the camera where to go forward.. like A your current drone location and B where you pointed the camera. once locked. even when you turn the camera left or right, the course of where it will go will still be to B (as you push forward stick, pull back will let it return to A) strafe left or right is locked.

any mode should work I guess.. just pull back and gain ultitude slowly. Make sure the path it reverse is clear.
if wind is strong, try not to full throttle , my phantom seems to show some hairline crack now cry.gif (pre ordering mavic LOL)

General rule of thumb. Drone in checked baggage, batteries in carry on

Better read up on their drone laws before you bring a drone there. Sometimes you need to have a drone operator's license/permit to bring in one, and even then you can't simply fly it in sensitive areas like national parks/housing areas/airports

Worse comes to worst, they may confiscate/detain your drone at the airport

Honestly, there's just too many laws/restrictions against drones. Some countries have even banned drones, and may not allow you to enter with your drone. Too much hassle really. They are really cool and all, but kinda useless when you wanna travel with them

I did bring my p3p to Japan twice, once with MAS, once with AAX.
Drone and batteries in hand carry backpack.

But no sure about other airlines and countries though.

Mavic Pro coming? I'm suppose to get my last week but now stuck due to SIRIM approval. Now there are charging RM 106 for the approval. I could have get it cheaper thru ECS as my company is their authorized reseller but I need it by early December.

hi guys,
I'm new to this thread. Just bought my own PS3A from a forumer here in lyn. Got a very good deal from it. Bought it for my future project doing lots of aerial shots and montage. This is my first try from yesterday morning.

btw, where do you guys get free, royalty free music to accompany the shots? At the moment, I'm merely using youtube very own free royalty free music. Its okay, but not as good as some I hear that you guys are using in your own shots. Do share. thanks!

Hi guys,

We've been away for a while now due to work but we've finally managed to spare a weekend to get some shots at Cameron Highlands.
Couldn't cover the area as much as we wanted to but all things considered, we at least have some content to share after 3 months. Hope you guys enjoy it. Cheers.

Wow! Didn't know there is a Phantom 3 thread here! Anyway, the photos which I took all seems to be a blurry. Am I doing anything wrong or is this the limitation of the camera lens?

hi guys, want to ask, where to buy the ND and Polarizer set for P3A? i see online the price range difference also i was shocked. Any recommended place and brand to get within reasonable price range (<RM 100 for at least 3 filters).

Anyone interested to pick up a phantom 3 adv? Selling off mine with an extra battery. Low flight time.
Also have a Manfrotto D1 Drone bag to let go.
