My oil ctr has dropped by 80% but it is still paying out its monthly dividends. It has recently purchased another oil asset sold at a reasonably cheap price, hence adding to its bbls/day figure. It still has available bank facility for further acquisitions. I wonder how this ctr of mine will turn out later on.

They get drunk, they hug each other like bros and sis, they laugh and laugh on silly jokes. such a thing have a strange way of self fulfilling itself - more and more talk about it, then even more start to pull out, panic... downward spiral... it is a very challenging time now - low bond yields, equities declining. reits, unit trusts, abc-xyz funds not spared. locally, rm staying at lows, prices rising, properties "got price, no market". investors not investing, biz struggling. politicians politicking overtime overdrive but do nothing... feels like a sitting duck! QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 2 2015, 01:56 PM) i got out of xle and oih some weeks ago. The lowest we seen so far last monday during the bear raid was 37.75.. intraday, so the bears must make another raid to take out that last week low for this to happen. If happens again, I think the general market also tank, not just oil/energy sector. i have stayed out since and only played coins with inverses - dwti, sco or ery. will get back into xle and oih only when there are major development... opec firm action, more major m&a like recent schlumberger+cameron, maybe oil majors mergers...? and crude at say... 35? |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 2 2015, 08:39 PM) yes, it will all be together... Markets are in the transition away from QE.QE help to kick-start the economy after it slipped into a recession. Artificially lowering the short-term lending rate to nearly zero was supposed to make banks lend more money to businesses and people.now this is something new... everyone knows quantitative easing... now here comes quantitative tightening! but it does make sense... many countries incl china, russia, msia have been depleting their reserves to protect their currencies. if usa hike rates, all hell might break loose... some can follow, some will fail. equities will fall flat, oil will fall further... then, where to hide? usd, i guess! The ultra-low-interest-rate environment has made it cheaper to borrow money—and is recognized as being the fuel that has propelled the stock market higher. The Federal Reserve has hinted it will start to wean investors off cheap money in 2015, when it begins to raise interest rates. Raising interest rates by just 50 basis points could have a serious, negative impact on the broader economy and, by extension, the U.S. stock market. Continued economic challenges in the eurozone and Asia will also have a detrimental affect on the U.S. stock market. |
