It is crazy but last time oil at 41.xx. XLE didn't even go above 65. It seems the oil stocks are more bullish than crude oil price itself

futures prices started to move from may to jun.

cnbc shows 40.30 (may), the rest 41.80 (jun).

price actually dropped after api data:

Post-settlement, crude retreated after API data reported a gain of 3.1 million barrels. Analysts had expected a gain of 640,000 barrels, according to StreetAccount.

sure they are.

dow is >18,000 now, highest since jul 2015.

implying the current p/e's are bloated but investors optimistic about oil price going forward.

oil bulls won't be that bullish today/tonight!

Kuwaiti oil and gas workers have ended a three-day strike that had temporarily cut the OPEC member's crude production by nearly half, the trade union said in a statement posted on its Twitter account.

Russia May Increase Production 100 MBOPD this Year

The American Petroleum Institute late Tuesday reported that crude supplies rose by 3.1 million barrels for the week ended April 15, according to sources who reviewed the report. The closely watched Energy Information Administration report will be released Wednesday. Analysts polled by Platts forecast a climb of 1.6 million barrels for crude inventories

dwti follows something else, something complex, can't remember but i did find and posted it somewhere in this thread.

really, it does not matter. becos may or june or jul - they are all connected with continuity.

the futures price will cross over from may to june when may is over, then june to july.

derivatives like dwti are continuous but reset daily - the prices/units are internally "adjusted" correctly, no worries.

but, as u already know, there is "decay" over time.
