hi guys, would like some feedback on this.
I'm travelling to Bali on Nov 25. Will be staying in Ubud. Tour guide will bring my in laws to go jalan jalan, so we have 1 day to chill. Tot of going diving at the famous USS Liberty wreck in Tulamben. My driver says its about 2 1/2 hours drive away. Possible to do 2 dives in a day assuming that we depart from Ubud early morning?

Any dive center with DM that can recommend? Both me and my wife just got our Open water not long ago. I understand that it's a shore drive to the wreck.

The dive operators will pick you up about 7am. It's a whole day affair. Am sure they can arrange ubud pick up as well

Last round I used dive concepts ( french operator)

Guys, what are the recommended attire for someone who wish to take up open water diving course for the first time & where to get those? And what are the exercises needed to accommodate our body for the coldness in the water? I been to the river yesterday and shivering non-stop because the water is very cold.

So that's the reason behind?
I really don't drink at all, not even beer.
If that's the case I will consider pick up drinking.

LOL dont listen to jiemoon he's just trolling you laugh.gif

The dive centre you do your OW with should have wetsuits for you to rent which will help to keep you warm.

If you go to a place like Redang, the water there is 30C, which is the same as a swimming pool in Klang Valley. For other places check the local sea temp chart.

I am about to get my gopro, just starting simple with Backscatter FLIP 3.1 Side Flip with Dive Filter and a monopod.
1) Any advice on how to take care of the GoPro on diving? Any tips as well?
2) Also, do I need to get those silica gels/pads that they sell exclusively for GoPro? How can I avoid fogging completely?

Thanks in advance first!  rclxms.gif

1. The two things i always do. Before i close the case, i make sure the o ring is clean. After the dive, i submerge it in tap water and repeatedly press the buttons to flush out salt.

2. I dont use them and havent had fogging issues in the southeast asian climate. But one thing you should always do is to sweep away bubbles that stick to your case/filter (outside).

All thanks to the recognition of the risks and the subsequent stringent requirements to dive tec. But it is known that tec diving accidents are generally more severe and fatal if it happens. I can't help but wonder if those similar stringent requirements were adopted for basic rec diving, would there be nil diving fatalities?

A large part of an OW course teaches you protocols and procedures to avoid death biggrin.gif

But training and knowledge only gets you so far, you also need experience to make you a wiser confident diver, and discipline to follow your training. Applying more stringent requirements won't change this.

The dive center will provide all the necessary dive outfit for you to maintain your body warmth in the water, i.e. wetsuits.

Most of us dive in rashguards and board shorts in our local waters. Wetsuits can be a bit too warm for some of us.

You can get wetsuits and rashguards at any dive shops (listed on the first page of this thread). Wetsuits starts at around RM 300 or so. Rashguards can also be found at Ripcurl or any other shops that sells swim wear. You can wear your rashguard under the wetsuits if you are super afraid of cold.

Hey Guys,

To those of you who are using Kevlar/braided hoses. There's been talks in the dive community about them being faulty and recalls from manufacturers. It seems some of the hoses are causing explosive incidents and delivery of insufficient air supplies.
