QUOTE(Sesshoumaru @ Nov 1 2015, 08:58 AM)
1. Annual Income: >100k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes (no VS/VI/WMC etc., err don't need the fancy lifestyle perks)

3. Card required for: Cashback, to fill other spending requirements not covered by my existing credit cards

4. Existing credit cards if any: Maybank 2 Cards, OCBC GE (applying), Maybank Ikhwan (planning to apply), AmBank Gold Visa Card which was with me from a long time ago (any cards from AmBank that I can switch to?)

5. Looking at CC from: Any bank.

6. Others: I don't spend a lot consistently so pre-reqs such as Aeon Watami or HLB Wise is out. I need straight forward CB. Not keen on points because I don't spend that much to start collecting points in another bank especially with non-evergreen points.

Petrol Groceries - Covered @ 5% CB on Fri + Sat by Ikhwan. Otherwise, Maybank AMEX for 5x points if unplanned spending.

Dining - Always try Maybank AMEX first especially on weekends, if not failing that, to use OCBC GE (1% CB).

Dining would cover most of my spending, also the most uncontrollable factor for me (unlike petrol or groceries).

PS: While I'm at it, is there any difference between OCBC Classic GE or OCBC Plat GE? Websites shows none.

cimb cr plat and hlb mach (choose trendsetter).

petrol & grocery on fridays & saturdays = mbb ikhwan
petrol on sunday-thursday = cimb cr plat
dining on weekends = mbb2amex or hlb mach
dining on weekdays = hlb mach
clothing = hlb mach
online = cimb cr plat
others = mbb2amex (if amex is accepted) or ocbc ge

I am looking for CC, please advice (I am Malaysian, working overseas)

1. Annual Income: RM 75k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes/auto-waive with minimal swipes

3. Card required for: List all your needs
I work overseas. So basically everything that I use, buy and eat.
4. Existing credit cards if any: nope

5. Looking at CC from: Maybank or will consider others depend on benefit given

Please advice.
*
since you are working overseas, i assume you will not needed a cc for petrol? if you don't want to maintain too many cards, you may get aeon watami 3% for everything except petrol. min usage is rm3k per quarter to activate the cb. max usage is rm5k to get rm150 cb per quarter. the forex rate for aeon is low too.

Will dig out at night, currently on mobile.

QUOTE(nimrod2 @ Nov 26 2015, 01:21 AM)
dear sifus,

i currently have a hlb wise which gives me the rm100 cash back.
problem is i spend about 2-3k in total which includes alot of dining and bout rm500 for petrol. to maximize my cash back, i'm considering just using it for dining and using another card for my petrol.

any recommendations for the new petrol card (i saw some suggestions of mbb ikhawn on top)?
or is there any other card that i can take advantage of for the dining cash
back (sharing my usage among both)?

thanks in advance.

dining 5% using hlb mach or 6% using pbb vs
petrol 2%/5% using uob one

no choice because your spending is small. otherwise you may opt for uob one (cancel when they charge you af second year onwards) or cimb cr plat.

2. Free Lifetime annual fee: optional

4. Existing credit cards if any: Nil, only debit cards.

5. Looking at CC from: please recommend

Hi all, this will be my first credit card. I've tried uob and hong leong but got rejected and I wonder was it because of my epf transactions. I only have epf transaction from may to September which are 5 transactions when I applied both the cards. Now I have 6 months of epf transactions. Is it easier for me to apply now? Or anyone can recommend any credit cards that are easier to apply comparatively? Thanks guys!

if just for emergency back up, i suggest you to apply for mbb ikhwan or cimb cr plat. nod.gif
