i'm not qualify for the PBB VS. Checked but for MBB VS, need to spend big amount to get it waived so NO-NO.

Perhaps after look at your comment, I think I gonna combine my monthly essential expenses into

AEON WATAMI - TM, Insurance, Condo Maintenance, TNB into this card.

Now looking for one more card to cover for retail/online/groceries.  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
*
Groceries - Ikhwan
Online - Can try CIMB CR or VOX. I prefer VOX but VOX needs to have minimum spending of RM 50 for cash rebate. VOX can be used to pay flight tickets and get rebate but CR cannot.

Is it format as below?
1. Annual Income: around RM150k - RM200k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes

3. Card required for: List all your needs
Insurance - approx 7000 pa
Groceries - around 300 - 500/mth
Petrol - around 1000 - 1200/mth
Utilities & phone bill - around 1000/mth

Priority on cashback

4. Existing credit cards if any: SCB Visa Business Platinum

5. Looking at CC from: nil
*
Public Bank Visa Signature and Maybank Visa Signature. They should cover most of your expenses.
You can add Aeon Watami for insurance and other expenses.

All of these have annual fees, PBB VS and Aeon Watami only need to swipe 12x but MBB VS requires you to spend 50k per annum or you have to pay RM 550 + 6% GST. First year AF is waived for all.

What's the purpose you applied AmEx Platinum Credit Card? It has AF http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...sonal/CRD-Cards
Also it doesn't have cash back for anything.

1. if i need to groceries other days I still can use the 5x treatpoints
2. complimentary premium lounge.
*
1. HLB Wise gives 10% of cash back if you select groceries category, all days. AmEx Plat is not Treat Points (TP) but Membership Reward (MR).
2. Plenty of cards give premium lounge, to name some Aeon Gold (36k per annum income requirement), RHB Plat, AmBank Plat (60k per annum income requirement). I'm having Aeon Gold and AmBank Plat, I used to have RHB Plat but I see no purpose of it and I have terminated it. Aeon Gold's AF can be waived with 12x swipes per year, AmBank Plat is free for life, no AF. RHB Plat needs to spend 36k per year to waive AF but can be easily waived, when I requested to terminate it, they tried to retain me with 2 years free without paying any AF.

My question is, with 58k annual income requirement, Maybank allows you to apply for Plat level? They are kinda petty about this. smile.gif

Sometimes, sales agent try to ask them to apply for the card if they are very close to the requirement.

If salary credited to MBB and a good history, sometimes, they might overlook the 1~2k and consider issuing the card.

Should mentioned that HLB comes with T&C, at least he will know what he signed up for.
Not much difference, really.

HLB wise have so much frills to utilize it, I gave up using it.

Need to plan your spending to the dot.
*
If he wants to ask more about HLB Wise, he will ask further. I was trying to give him a comparison only.

For wedding banquet, you can apply for HLB Essential which gives unlimited 1% and Aeon Watami 3% per quarter but maximum up to RM 300 (RM 5k spending).

For groceries and petrol, others have replied you. smile.gif

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Nice to have. More emphasis on cashback for below

3. Card required for:
Mainly for dining, petrol, utilities & Insurance

4. Existing credit cards if any: Maybank 2 Card (Amex + Visa)

5. Others: Prefer on cashback card.

PBB Visa Signature, it has annual fees but can easily waived with 12x swipes per year.

MBB Visa Signature , it has annual fees but can be waived with minimum 50k spending per year.

The above two shall cover for dining, petrol, utilities and even groceries. Groceries are useful for TnG reload.

For insurance, you can try Aeon Watami. It has annual fees but can easily waived with 12x swipes per year.

The individual threads are in this section. All the above will have AF waived for the first year.

Thanks, I checked out MBB Visa Signature but I never realized Annual Fees could be so expensive, and I definately do not spend 50k a year at all, so PBB is more appealing to me plus I changed my post above to Free Lifetime Waiver preferred now haha

Well, nothing is really free these days. smile.gif

Maybank Ikhwan is free for life, you can use it for petrol and groceries.

Hi Everyone, appreciate your advise based on below:

1. Annual Income: RM60K.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes.

3. Card required for: Overseas Transactions, Free airport Lounge Access, cashback or X times rewards benefits

4. Existing credit cards if any: Maybank 2 card Gold (Visa + AMEX)

5. Looking at CC from: Public Bank Platinum maybe. would like to have a visa infinite/signature card but dont fulfill the minimum annual income.

6. Others: I primarily use my AMEX cc at big merchants so looking for a visa/Mastercard for use at local merchants who dont accept AMEX to replace the given Maybank 2card visa.

thanks in advance!
*
You may want to read first post for replacement of Maybank2Cards. smile.gif

For PPL, you can try Aeon Gold, Aeon Big Gold, RHB Plat and AmBank Plat. smile.gif

Thanks for the recommendation. Now I'm considering RHB or AmBank Platinum. Both are kind of similar. Anybody has any experience on either or both cards that could help me decide? AmBank's is free for life but called RHB and they say can waive the annual fees.
*
Well, I used to have RHB Plat and I have terminated it about a month ago because it has no benefits though it gives 4x PPL access per calendar year. On paper, you need to spend 36k per annum to waive its AF. However, when I requested to terminate it, the lady from retention department called and offered me free AF until 2018 if I'm not wrong. Anyway, I still proceeded to cancel it because it has no benefits and gave me the highest credit limit which will increase my credit exposure.

I also have the AmBank Plat which I find it more suitable for my usage as it also gives PPL access to some overseas PPL for e.g. Changi Airport and Beijing International Airport which I always frequent. It gives unlimited access but every access comes with a condition you will need to swipe 3x in overseas 60 days before/after your PPL visit. Yes, it's a free for life card.

If you want a hassle free card, you can try Aeon Gold which gives free 6x PPL for KLIA/KLIA2 per calendar year. To waive its AF, you only need to swipe 12x a year. Easy peasy. Moreover, it has one of the lowest overseas charges. Else, you can try the latest new card-Aeon Big Gold which has the same PPL benefit as Aeon Gold but not sure of its overseas charges.

Hope the above helps.

Thanks for your feedback! Really insightful. Each card really has its own pros and cons. I'm tempted to get the RHB Plat for the time being partly because of the current promo for free luggage. But the PPL access is only to Malaysian airports.

On the other hand the AmBank card gets you PPL access to some overseas airports but you have to make 3 overseas swipes for it to be free, which is definitely doable. And plus, it's free for life!

Saw the blog post on Aeon Gold's lower than usual overseas charges! But prefer AEON Big Gold rather than the department store version, but this one is not tested yet.

Thanks for making my decision even harder. haha joking2 this is really2 helpful. I just need to figure out how exactly I'm going to use the card to get maximum benefits.
*
Yeah, just go for the one which you think is suitable and gives you freebies. biggrin.gif
The only bad thing about AmBank Plat is if you are traveling within Malaysia, you can't use it well because can't swipe at overseas. laugh.gif

That's why I have the Aeon Gold just in case. laugh.gif

Oh ya, another thing with AmBank is it has RM 650 free cash back now if you swipe RM 1600 within 60 days and must also register a supplementary card when you sign up. Though it's first come first serve basis but the quota is still there. I got my card in July and only swiped RM 1600 in late August and I got the RM 650 two days ago. thumbup.gif

I think I've decided to get the AEON BiG Gold card because I feel like I can use it a lot both locally and overseas (hope same super nice exchange rate as the AEON Gold Card) + 6 PPL access.

For you guys/gals who have multiple cards, does the benefit of having the card outweigh the annual RM50 govt tax? Because I like the idea of having multiple cards with each for a certain use but then I think about having to pay the annual govt tax just doesnt seem worth it..for me la
*
Alright, Aeon Big is not a too bad card as well. smile.gif

laugh.gif No more Government Service Tax after Goods and Services Tax came effect on 1st April 2015. That's why it is better to get an AF free card or cards which their AF can be easily waived. AF is still applicable though.

I have probably close to 10 credit cards now. laugh.gif

Anyway, it is subject to bank's approval ya. smile.gif
