Sorry for typo. Yes is 3rd gen and wheel size 185/60/15.
Btw, trd not 16" ?
That time I'm  not concerning to the high spec so I thought trd will bigger wheel of size.
*
No. TRD still using 15" rim with same 185/60/R15.

Eventually although the design looks nicer but because of the darker color to me it looks smaller than other specs lol.

Design wise I prefer: TRD rim > J/E rim > G rim

TRD rim with 16" 195/50/R16 size will definitely looks perfect.

hi guys!

I want to inquire.

My wife just got her 3rd generation Vios which comes without fog lamps.

I also noticed that despite having no foglamps, there was a "on/off" switch on on the handles but apparently "locked" in position.

Is there any recommendation for me to have the foglamps installed and the foglamp switch "unlock"?
*
If you read the manual carefully, you should know that is for rear fog lamp instead of front fog lamp.

Few things to remember:
1. It can only able to be turned on when you have your headlamp on.
2. DO NOT TURN ON rear fog lamp unless the rain is very heavy.
3. You can install fog lamp to follow your position light or headlight ON/OFF or you need to change the switch handle.

Foglamp install will not void ur warranty? I heard this part will cut ur wire share from headlamps. Unless there got plug socket was ready in the bumper. We still need check relay box if there prepare or not? My J type, no choice have to wait few years do later.
*
No need cut wire if you have the fuse tap.

QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Jun 27 2016, 11:42 AM)
oh, is it?

I always thought that the circuits are already there and just plug and play, no extension wiring and stuffs required.

Can anyone confirm this?

If really so then i think Toyota is being quite a cheapskate. Even my previous 1.3 Gen 2 has all the wiring ready. I just went for an aftermarket foglamps, plug and play.
*
No wiring available.

if there is no wiring available, i fear that Toyota will just regard that as "illegal modification" and terminate the warranty.

in that sense, i think i'll just leave it as it is.
*
If you want to do, google fuse tap and use it for fog lamp installation.

The downside of this installation is you cannot have any switch to turn the fog lamp on/off but either follow small light/ headlamps.

Good side is, no wiring cut needed. If need warranty claim, just unplug the fuse tap, plug back original fuse to the fuse slot then your fog lamp will be disconnected.

That's it.

There are many inconsiderate people turning on their rear fog lamp to deliberately irritate and blind the drivers behind.

Good to use against tailgaters  rolleyes.gif

Or use it to warn the driver behind if something happened in front which not visible to the rear. Of course on for awhile then please close it unless raining heavily smile.gif

bro, my statement very clear. Nobody would like being tailgate due to dangerous of emergency braking.
If behind people feel irritation mean the car really closed bumper to bumper. Else, it would not harmful the behind driver cause rear foglamp not very strong as high light.
If i have a choice, i prefer not to switch ON rear foglamp to saving energy. But really not understand why there must tailgate.
*
Honestly speaking, the light won't as what others complaining which high power until can make them blind permanently.

But, turning them ON during clear night will still somehow irritate the drivers behind you, also tend to let the drivers behind losing concentration as the rear fog lights output are the same with brake light.

No need to provoke those tailgaters la.
*
There are always 2 sides of story.

Why people tailgate you?

First side of the story:
1. Some one driving recklessly regardless they are in fast lane / middle lane and simply flash high beam / tailgate etc.
2. Some one still tailgate you even though you already in middle / left lane.

This type of drivers are simply axxhole, just avoid to mess with them. Is not about fight with them, is about your own safety on the road.

Second side of the story:
1. You are driving slow in fast lane.
2. Driver behind already turned on right signal / high beam / horn telling you they want to pass, but you still ignore them and continue to drive in fast lane.

If you met either scenario above, you should feel sorry to the others & should not do that anymore instead of switch on rear fog lamp to irritate them.

Example: Driving 70kmh in the fast lane on highway. I will be like: What the hell are you doing there? Please drive in middle lane or left lane.

I'm real frustrated to all those bastard blocking the fast lane. Please be considerate to the others. Thank you very much.

No difference between both. Just the seats.

J now comes with full accessories just like E and G. Just back seats can't be folded, fabric seats, signal light on the side fenders.

The maintenance fee is not published unlike Honda. The salesman told me to just snap a pic when the service advisor is not aware.  sweat.gif
*
No. There are lots of differences.

J spec as based model.

E spec compared to J spec:
With RM6k++, you gained fog lamps, turn signal with folding side mirrors, 60:40 back seat.

G spec compared to E spec:
With another RM6k++, you gained leather seat, leather steering, multimedia steering control, rear disc brake, projector headlamp, different rim design, MID display, aluminium like plastic material on door card, front chrome grill, acoustic windshield.

TRD spec compared to G spec:
Another RM6k++, you gained TRD leather seat design, TRD bodykit, TRD stickers, TRD rims, darker projector headlamp, darker front chrome grill, red meter instead of blue.

Safety equipment wise, no difference.

Yeah. I have been going to Toyota UMW at puchong

I asked the service person, why my car only drove 25k mileage but you guys placed me into the Maxcheck advance plus which requires 40k mileage. He straight away speechless , then explained that it is whichever comes first, 40k/2years.

I immediately felt cheated cause I rarely drove my car.  I definitely don't need the advance plus package but a normal 30k mileage package or a more customized package to required needs. vmad.gif
*
Actually you should aware that every car company are doing the same. Whichever come first, which they already mentioned very clearly in T&C.

I think the workmanship quite ok... but is it normal they only wrap outside? Once open door or boot can see different colour
Thanks for suggestion, yes planning to get rim, maybe 17"... any recommendations for the rim and type of tyre ?
*
Depend on the price you pay. Because wrapping just outside doesn't required to remove a lot of interior panel etc. A full wrapping will required remove the door cards, rubber, sill plate etc to achieve the best look condition.

I would suggest a 16" (My personal opinion) so that it looks nice and not so heavy. I researching few brands but I'm not really deep into it, but my friend told me those brand their quality not that bad. Lenso, Advanti, Enkei etc.

About your car, you might want to consider installing a fog lamp/DRL for the front? Together with the rims I'm sure it will looks much better.

headlight are expensive if want to MOD and make sure you buy the QUALITY one... some not quality masuk WAP and WATER sometime.
my Vios J Spec install TRD sport whole set... no problem at all at all KL area bump(Normal speed not HIGH speed even crossing bump), but i using all stock suspension. So make sure your suspension is stock i confirm ok...

In the end, i believe you change RIM + whole set the body kit... you sure satisfy ady... except you want extreme MOD... haha  rclxs0.gif  rclxs0.gif

Personally I'm not so into the bodykit for 3rd gen Vios. I spent my money for coating, kenwood player etc biggrin.gif

Ic, will try to change rim and install fog lights first.
If looks OK then upgrade others like sound proof and audio .
Kenwood good? Did u change speakers as well ?
*
Yup. Fog lamp and rim should be first few items before came to bodykit smile.gif

I recently get myself Kenwood DDX716WBT. Quality is quite good but I lack of the WIFI dongle for my wireless mirrorlink feature. Will add on in future haha.

I didn't change speaker yet, not in my priority items. My next changes might UR bar or Rims depend on budget.

notworthy.gif  Looks like the spec for each variant similar to the existing one... I think J spec is still better value than E spec.
I have feeling that it won't be cheap even with EEV... probably the same price as current. Hope UMW can prove me wrong!

The LED DRL still look awkward. Looks like 3rd party add-on. Maybe it is added by UMW themselves.  doh.gif
*
With existing spec, I find it hard to justify E spec over J spec just for retractable side mirror + fog lamp + 60:40 foldable seat with arm rest for 6k plus.

With the new spec, additional touch screen + 3 items above, then E spec can still be considerable if the price diff maintain at 6k or lower.

The LED DRL, indeed is UMW self added. Such an ugly DRL, any aftermarket DRL suits much better than this.

QUOTE(HMMaster @ Sep 26 2016, 09:32 AM)
I think that is the Toyota in-house brand. Not sure if they re-brand it from other brand though.
*
EcoTint. If they didn't change.

Before the launch of the new Vios, I have seen alot Vios on the road with the new DRL on the front bumper.
New vios already on the market prior to the official launch?
*
No. The DRL is a carry forward item from pre-facelift car.

Basically, to recognize new vios from exterior:

J & E almost impossible except number plate.
G has a new rim design same with GX but not 2 tones color.
GX - new bodykit
TRD - new bodykit

Hi, can i get the G spec to install body kit? It seems in the brochure they do not offer it whyyyy
*
Why get G spec to install? Price different between G & GX is just 3k, you purchase the bodykit also cost you almost that amount of money, 2.3k. That's why they don't offer bodykit for G spec.

Guys, want to ask, NCP 42 if I want to change the rims, can I go to the Toyota to get the rim? Because my current rim one of it bengkok abit....

can I but at SC, the current GX model...

Anyone tried that. I don't want outside like nixxen what brand
*
I'm worry that with the price, you can get higher quality product at outside trustable shop...unless you wait longer until you can get a second hand unit...

Doesn't look like it's a facelifted version. But the version before facelift. However, inside the panel got fusebox. Might caused by the fuse or something...
