i just came back from CH...its been a long time since i went there when i were small... overall, CH is still a nice place...i went on deepavali...reach there around 4 sumting after open house in sitiawan...most of the hotels were fully booked...luckily twin pines still have available rooms...i personally recommend twin pines...krs pines is a budget hotel whil twin pines is higher standard than krs...this twin pines is located quite deep...its hard to find if you don't know the route...because of its remote location...this place is nice to stay...the room is clean...i prefer hotels without carpet...coz i feel carpet is dirty...if someone decide to shoot his low on the carpet, the "juice" will work its way through the carpet...lol...imagine after 12 hours...there is no detergent on earth can clean that...

for food, mayflower is nice...haven't tried the nyonya fern...t-cafe is also good...its scone is nice and cheaper than others like in boh tea...

mayflower got 2 shops...1 is halal and another 1 is non-halal..u can go to the halal shop...if u are standing infront of the shop, the shop on ur right is halal while on the left is non-halal...

if you are going on fri or saturday, u can always go to brinchang night market...there have a variety of food...i tried the ayam percik and nasi ayam melayu...both taste so so...the ayam percik in penang is much better...besides that, there a lot of malay stalls....u can buy food from them...

high peak is rm 110....peak is 90...weekdays is around 70 or 80??? not sure...

u need to understand that this is a guest house...not a hotel...but i can promise u that this guest house is cleaner than few hotels...like heritage or iris hotel etc...

I personally recommend this hotel because it is located far from the main road...which makes it very very peaceful at night...u can park ur car inside if u want...but only 3 cars can park inside...outside also can park but the road is quite steep...so make sure u put a brick behind ur front tyres...

if u are lazy to drive out, u can always walk out...around 3 minutes walk...u can reach banks, shops, restaurant...and if u add another 2 minutes walk, u can reach starbucks, mamak, minimarket, and lots of other shops...

ya...i used to have bad impression on motels and guest house...i used to think that both motels and guest house is dirty...lol...

but staying in twin pines have changed my perception...
the manager and the staff there is very friendly...if u need anything u just need to ask....

when i went there, my fren fall sick..then when i told the manager, the manager who is a indian woman gave him panadol for free...and even offered him to prepare toast bread for him before taking the panadol...

just for your information, this guesthouse is owned by raj...a doctor...

my experience with malay steamboat restaurant......

1. tanah rata near the pasar tani place.

there are 2 restaurant can serve steamboat dinner. i took the 1st one
(bigger restaurant). the other one is smaller coz in the middle.
the staff quite lansi (berlagak) and they r not well organise. always
mistaken in taking order. back to the steamboat, majority of the things
are fishballs, fishcakes. only a few prawns (3) and meat. the worst
part is the vege they gave are in terrible condition. we r in cameron
for god sake!!!!.....no carrot, no baby corn, no nothing. the only good about the steamboat is the sauce. thats it.........

2. tanah rata infront of hong leong bank

the restaurant is inside a big building, retoran imelda ( if im not mistaken). beside this big building there are also a few malay restaurant which i didnt try. please.......if there is another option, avoid this restaurant. food r tasteless. the steamboat r also the same like the 1st one.

this is my opinion..........

Cameroon Highland are best to visit in early November and December..that because the temperature can drop below 20 - 10 degree ..in ringlet orcid deluxe Hill at the night..i got my house at top of the hill in riglet territory before tanah rata..froze my feet over there during that month..can't imagine what happen if we were at top of the brinchang Hill..best place too visit is The Strabery Park where people only attract too buy creamy and juicy strawbery..Breezy and Comfortable to live there..BoH Plantation got upgraded recently (oh i miss old machine making those tea Baked)..KL is crowded so every end of the year i will go Cameroon Highland where it is the best place to relax and enjoy nature..

Hi guys, me and a few friends of mine are planning to go to CH for our bug collection for Biology project. But we're also planning to go for a trip in Cameron Highland. With a budget of course.

So now this is our plan : -
- We're heading to CH by bus from Puduraya, so far the bus fares we found from various website are priced within RM28~35. Is it reasonable?
- As for accommodations, we're planning to stay in an apartment with kitchen and basic necessities. Is there any recommendations by you guys?
- What is the best period to go CH? I am planning to make this trip as interesting as possible.
- For backpackers, is there any bus services around CH? How about the bus fares?

I will post up more questions if I remembered them. Thanks to those who're helping.

Hihi. I'm also going CH, this weekend. Never been there, my first time. I have also done alot of googling on this. For the bus fare, RM22( for normal bus) - RM35 (for super VIP coach; comfy). They are scheduled so you have to check for the time table. Best period to go CH would be this month and dec, according to people who've been there many times.

Yes, there is bus service around in CH. So far that I've searched, they come with tour packages. The most basic package is vising butterfly park, tea planation, etc (about 6-8 places, one day tour) for RM22. This tour ticket can be bought at the station when you reach Tanah Rata.

For more infos you can visit www.cameronhighlands.com

Hope it helps.

Added on November 3, 2009, 9:19 amI have a question to others though, I plan to go on a ONE DAY trip by bus but I notice the return time to KL for the last bus is 4.30pm (as shown on the website). Does anyone know any alternatives way if I wanna go back around 6-8pm? Any other bus services?

They say taxi is hard to get.

Please help! Thanks!

Taxi from CH to KL - around RM$200. You can check on the taxi once you arrive at the bus terminal at Tanah Rata, there's a taxi station there.

How about check on buses to Tapah, then bus/taxi from Tapah to KL? Or CH to Ipoh, Ipoh to KL?

If you are going for day trip, why not just book the CH tour that departs from KL? This should includes two way bus + sightseeing/tour...

Day trip to CH from KL, can be quite tiring wo... Well, if it costs RM$200 for a cab back to KL, might as well pay RM$70-90 to stay one night at Twin Pines and go back to KL the next morning...
