Doesn't really bother me with 22 Frets.... I have been playing 22 frets all this time and don't see a need for 24 frets.....

And another reminder for all the Noobs..... A guitar which has everything might not necessarily a guitar that you might like.
Don't get a 24 fret with a Floyd Rose generic guitar over say an Epiphone Les Paul if you don't require a 24 fret Floyd.

What I'm saying is that get a guitar that YOU would play now... don't get it because it has so much bells and whistles.

........ which is why the Gibson LP Standard looks much better then the Razorback at the moment....... It has no real frills, but plays beautifully.

when i first bought my guitar i had to think real hard whether i needed a whammy bar or not, in the end i opted not to get one(didn't think i'd needed it)

right now i'm thinking of getting a distortion pedal, maybe a boss ds-1 or something relatively cheap(below 300)

blacktrix,

standard LP from gibsonare not as good as i used to believe... because in my opinion it doesn't play beautifully (especially compared to the price you're paying for it !).

Now i know better : If i wanted a typical LP sound, i'd go for a custom... only those manage to capture the magic. Well, it is as far as my experience goes : comparing a custom and a standard really opens your eyes on what you're (not) having with a standard.

Otherwise, if i'm ready to buy a standard, i'd rather buy a copy (tokai, heritage, etc...). I'll save a few bucks and might have a better sound in the end.

Well, with any guitar... I would have to test the guitar myself and see how it REALLY sounds.

And a Custom Les Paul would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over my budget. Yes. I DO have a budget!

well, previous standards came with 496/498 pickup combos.
now they come with burstbucker pros, which supposedly capture the more vintage sounds.
some tho still change the burstbuckers to a 57 classic/57 classic+ combo for an even more vintage sound.

standards since, if not mistaken, 2002/03 have been vastly improved.
