i like the M-Audio Fast-Track USB Pro. only thing is that its over my budget.

blacktrix, since its USB, take note of the qrecording quality based on how many inputs u're recording. i guess u'll only be recording one at a time(guitar) so its ok (recording at 24bit 96khz). firewire is better, but comes at a much higher price. also, if ur USB slots are full u dont want to put the m audio through hubs.

bluesilver, its possible to record straight. listen to the virtual jam. was done plugging straight into my laptop with a crappy built in soundcard.

if u're that desperate, try calling midi specialist. im not sure if they could give u a better price since SMX is the official distributor for m-audio.

wah blacktrix. now i know who to call to pinjam mic. haha. jk jk. anyways, why not start with monitoring headphones first? get those flat response high definition headphones first. wouldnt cost as much as a monitor speaker and at the same time, u wont really need to upgrade as u'll need them when u're on location recording.

as for condensers, the taming sari sounds surprisingly good(based on soundclips ive heard) and price is nice also. however i never tried it in person. sujesh is selling some i think. i would be getting it if i get an audio interface with phantom power. still thinking whether to get an audio interface or m-audio finger trigger.

which behringer do u recommend?
