Just read the news as link below, SPAD will disguise as a rider/passenger to request trip for Uber/Grabcar. In that case 100% caught in red handed.

Who know any driver running out of luck and meet SPAD operation? Car will be seize/tow and will be penalty or jail.

Anyone see Uber stand up to help these Uber driver victim?? Please share...

Any driver can share whether Uber really go thru background check? Or they just register online, provide driving license & Insurance copy and attend a short briefing. After they can just start driving and taking passenger.

Most my friend had stop driving Uber, and I bet most driver are new blood which driving less then 3 months.

Uber are just good for Rider & Uber Company, the loser are always the driver.

The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) is continuing its offensive against illegal taxi operators – in the most recent clampdown, six illegal taxis were apprehended during a sting operation called Ops Revus, and their operators are set to face more than just a simple fine, according to news reports.

The SPAD says that illegal taxi operators will have their vehicle ownership revoked under the Land Public Transport Act. Eighty hired cars – including those operating under the Uber network and Grabcar – have been seized by the commission since October last year, SPAD enforcement general manager Datuk Che Hasni Che Ahmad said.

He stated that out of the 80 cars seized from various illegal taxi companies utilising private vehicles to offer taxi services, 52 have had their ownership revoked – these cars are reportedly set to be auctioned off. They are among the 223 vehicles that have been identified by the commission as illegal taxis. Back in December, it was reported that five private cars were seized in an Uber operation in Johor Bahru.

Under Section 16 of the Land Public Transport Act, individual drivers found guilty of unlicenced ferrying of passengers in privately-owned vehicles can face a fine of up to RM10,000 or a year in jail or both, while car companies can be fined up to RM100,000.

I'm really surprise how Uber can still continue operate and recruit new driver despite so many warning by SPAD.

Anyone know how does Uber really help those driver when their car are seize & caught in red handed??
Perhaps some Uber Partner/driver need to bring it up to Uber before it was too late.

all those news try to scare people only

just do it, make sure always call your passengers and talk to them and you can roughly gauge what kind of people they are (but I can tell you mostly expats), usually SPADs are "you know who" so if you suspect anyone from SPAD just cancel the ride and write an email to UBER or call the number they have given you

Hope you were right and things can be easily solve. And no Uber driver caught and no car had been seize.

Anyone had read the latest news as below? Seem like Uber trying to keep their hand clean and blame those drivers.

Uber: We're not a taxi service, we're a 'lead generation' app

Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-fights...7#ixzz3fTN6iNLa

Anyway a good thing we have unlimited free ride this weekend. As a rider, we just enjoy the good service and any promo.

ANYBODY any IDIOT or even a half blind fella can sign up

This is a true sharing

Step into their 'under renovation' (not theirs) bungalow at PDI design house around 50meters from Bangsar Shopping Center - no lights no aircond no fan, but huge crowd in groups of 8 people getting their briefing

Just 1 hour into the registration and briefing, you get the Uber drivers apps from Android Playstore (or Apple store if you have an iphone), and THAT IS IT, no inspection of cars, no checking if you can actually drive, even if you submit the Insurance Cover note that is NOT in your name, it's a PASS! (meaning Uber Malaysia just need to know that your 'car' has a live motor insurance)

Dont believe me, call any of these numbers that they gave the newbie 'drivers' (you will be lucky if anyone actually picks up - this is their fly-by-night support)

There is also ENTRAPMENT by members of their staff - if you dont understand what this means - get an English dictionary

May i know whats wrong with these? You know we are comparing with malaysian taxi driver here.
I drove UBER for a few weekend as a part time while waiting to get into a new job. Managed to get RM500+ for maybe under 10 hours of work. tongue.gif

Its as you say, i entered the briefing for one hour, after that i can drive already.
But they did verify my IC, License.

If you feel so unsafe taking UBER please take your taxi..all the insurance and what not is still BS la
I have never taken UBER before...but my friend recommended me as a good part time.
It is smile.gif Im well aware of the risk SPAD pose..but if you feel so pussy about it then please dont do it smile.gif

Exactly. Please remember one thing.. Uber is NOT a Taxi service.. it is a RIDE-SHARING application. You tumpang your friend's car, and get paid for the share of petrol. I'm an Uber driver too... and I've heard so many good things about Uber drivers from the passengers themselves. Even the gwailos use Uber cos they confirm will kena rip-off by Taxis just by looking at skin colour.

And one more thing - it is as easy to get kicked out from Uber as It is to get in. Every passenger MUST rate the driver. Drivers STRIVE to maintain 5 star rating. I'm amazed how disciplined I am on the road when driving a passenger (normally like sakai) just so that I can maintain my 4.9* rating! I don't want to know what happens if I get a 3 star rating. Seriously.

Driving Uber earning good part time money especially with the guarantee payment. To be honest, mind to share how long you all had driving Uber?

But don't forget Uber had declare illegal by SPAD. Meaning what you work are illegal and risking being caught. No matter how you gonna argue, SPAD will tell you talk in the court & lawyer later.

Uber definitely good for rider, and Uber Company, but the driver taking lot of risk then the earning to drive it.

We will still love Uber's good service, especially the on going promotion and free ride.

Good Luck all the Uber's driver.

I read somewhere saying that if the UBER driver has a Public Service Vehicle license, then it will be legal.

How could they 'legalise' the car then?

What equipment do I need to have in my vehicle?

1)Fire extinguisher (1kg)

2)Emergency kit (for 7-seater vehicles)

3)Warning triangle .

If my car is not a 7 seater vehicles..do I need to get emergency kit?
