i have this:
wanna turn to this:
i got the normal version(with the lga775 bracket) for cheaps(relatively), but i wanted the look of the AM2 version, i think that's black chorme tather than normal chrome, anyways i have found some contacts on electroplating shops: http://www.kellysearch.com/my-product-34326.htmlWill Chrome Plating reduce Heat Conductivity of my cooler?

I think it'll reduce the conductivity... Why? Because u'll be covering the original fins to another colour that makes the fin will be somekind of thicker than the usual...

Just read the reviews between both cooler. They say that the difference between the bare copper and the nickel plated one is none. Both performs the same

i think for the base stick with copper i think(not sure) unless u can make the base to mirror shine

by the way? what type of chrome plating u r doin? electrolysis or the spray type?
izzit metal or other elements for chroming? if u use electrolysis, then it should be ok...but if the chromeing process uses other material than metal, there will be a heat problem...the fin is design to desipate heat, if u do pure electrolysis chroming, that's good, conductivity is still good, but if other method is used, i'm not sure the heat can desipate quick or not...

in this case, can u can't simply bcos the heat can't desipate effectively due to non non or poor conductive elemen....i was correcting ur statement, not within this case

hey why didnt any one thought about metalizing something like the layer on the car head lamps. it is known to be allumanium based type and the way they layer in the lamps is put it inside a big vacuum-oven allumanium pellets are stuck on a tungsten wire which is heated up and the Al will ionised and stick to the surface(this is why it requires a vacuum condition. and walla!! a smooth layer like your car lamp though you hafta noe some one on the inside to do this
