i have this:
wanna turn to this:
i got the normal version(with the lga775 bracket) for cheaps(relatively), but i wanted the look of the AM2 version, i think that's black chorme tather than normal chrome, anyways i have found some contacts on electroplating shops: http://www.kellysearch.com/my-product-34326.htmlWill Chrome Plating reduce Heat Conductivity of my cooler?

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Nov 3 2006, 02:02 PM) I think it'll reduce the conductivity... Why? Because u'll be covering the original fins to another colour that makes the fin will be somekind of thicker than the usual... well for decorative chroming, we are talking about a few hundredths of a mil to 1 mil.. mil - a unit of length equal to one thousandth of an inch ....i am not so worry bout the thickness, but the thermal conductivity of the plating material itself... QUOTE(soulfly @ Nov 3 2006, 11:15 PM) those shiny chromy heatsinks are nickle coated nickel plate 1 layer, 2 chrome layers....but dunno whether the shops here do black chroming or not.

QUOTE(Najmods @ Nov 5 2006, 02:59 AM) Just read the reviews between both cooler. They say that the difference between the bare copper and the nickel plated one is none. Both performs the same maybe i'll try, dunno whether the local chromer pro enuf or not.....maybe i shud prep and clean properly before i hand the cooler to them, i know some bike shop have chorme tub behinf their shop, but those are too dodgy...

QUOTE(bombman @ Nov 7 2006, 02:27 AM) Talking bout physical vapour deposition¿? Not practical if wanna do @ home Electrolysis is way easier do at home? u got lobang to score some chorme palting kit MR.bomb? anything like these? http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/especially the Black Krome(tm) Kit chrome paint is not relevant at all guys, read the topic, i am wondering whether chroming my copper HS will reduce thermal conductivity of the cooler, paint is out of the question.... QUOTE(sHawTY @ Nov 7 2006, 11:46 PM) Seanl, no more talks, just do it... Then, discuss it back again here... just do it? i have one highend lga775 cooler only and i am not prepare to risk it if it comes back with zero thermal conductivity man..... i have been scouting tho, kampung jawa got a few who does it, but the conditions of the tank ...damn allot of residue...

It's now up to you, either you do, or you don't... aiyo , u guys see my topic? it's a question la, i am hoping lyn got ppl know the answer, i am sourcing as well...i will take out the question mark in the topic after i do it, but for now, i hope to get some info before i decide, this is not a show off thread...yet....so anyone? if anyone can provide some info on local chromers oso can...
