Hello , if I sell puny things (cable, repair tools etc)bought from Alibaba at home as hobby , not really a business. Do I need to pay tax? I earn puny profits only. Like  about rm200-rm700 a month net profits.
*
don't think u need to declare when u re-sell item without official receipt (which with a registered company).

any expert can confirm?

heard that we can open a tabung pendidikan account, and the $ deposited into the account is also subjected to income tax relief too - as long as the $ active till end of the year, i.e. 31/12/2015. so if i open a new account and deposited some $, and then on 1/1/2016 i close the account to take back all the $, is it still subjected to tax relief?

you mean SSPN-i? Money deposit for yourself is not entitled to relief.

If you have children, then yes, you can open an account for them and you can get tax relief up to RM6k.
*
yes, for children. so can close the account after 31/12, right?

It make no sense for them to show a 2017 withdrawal on a 2016 Tax Relief Statement..

I have already withdraw mine and even get the tax relief statement..

But now SSPN account doesn't show the option to print the tax relief statement..
*
ok noted..
by the way, how long does it takes to credit to your account? savings account i assume?

question regarding tax relief for sspn deposit.

steps of scenario:
-in year 2016 deposited 6k
-so in year 2017 income tax submission for year 2016, i got tax relief of 6k
-in year 2017, didn't deposit any sspn, but withdraw 3k hence making the balance of sspn account left 3k
-so in year 2018 income tax submission for year 2017, no chance to submit any tax relief for sspn
-in year 2018, then make deposit of 6k into sspn

question, what is the tax relief amount i can submit for 2018 during e-filling in 2019?

Your total deposits for 3 years is only 9k and you already claim 6k in 2016. So what do you think?

Answer is 3k.
*
so it is count by total deposited.

i ain't sure.. i thought i can claim 6k in y2019 e-filing, since i didnt claim in yr2018

If can do like this then it will be abused.

Claim 6k 1st year then withdraw all in 2nd year.

Claim 6k again in 3rd year and withdraw all in 4th year.

You only save 6k but you claim 12k from tax relief, if this make sense to you or LHDN then I'm more than happy to follow your way.

ok, thanks for explanation..

Need sifu to enlighten me on this scenario about tax relief on sspn deposit:

-Year 2016, I deposited RM6K, hence during tax submission in 2017, I can get tax relief of RM6K.

-Year 2017, I withdraw RM3K and didn't make new deposit, hence during tax submission in 2018, I can't claim sspn tax relief.

-Year 2018, I deposited RM6K, how much tax relief if I do tax submission in 2019?

Let's say you're at 21%/24% tax bracket.

RM 3k of PRS will give a tax saving of RM 630 at 21% or RM 720 at 24%

RM 3k in FD with 4% FD gives you an interest of RM 120 per year.
*
so tax relief is much better than fd %
