QUOTE(MeToo @ Jun 26 2015, 11:02 AM) Huh... I thought it was very clear. IF you NEED to loan 9 years, it shows you are actually financially NOT capable of buying/maintaining that car. 5 yrs MAX. 3 yrs should be better once you settled down and have a family and is financially stable/have other responsibility. 7 years ok tak??

I dont think new cars nowadays can even last 9 years. Even the japanese once u reach 5 years parts starts to break down already.. Worse is the continentals..

Many of my friends who are earning more than RM10k in basic, not commission based are only driving a less than RM150k car. And here we have someone who earns RM2.5k with RM5k commission wanting a RM350k car. Considering that commission is never fixed, buying a RM350k just sounds absurd and just plain bad economic fundamentals. At age 21, he will learn it the hard way .. unless of course he has rich parents to fall back on, which many kids these days have.
It's his money, why should we care. He should just buy whatever he likes. Give the Mustang a test, and if you like it and if you feel like it makes you a man, buy. You only live once.
My week old 2015 WRX STI was bought cash .. after selling my FD2R. Nice to be debt free. And at age 21, he wants to experience what owing loads of money to the bank feels like, so be it.

QUOTE(ngchuenlow @ Jun 25 2015, 05:37 PM) Hi guys, recently came up with a thought of getting a new car but not sure and dont know which i would be afford. So maybe you guys can give me suggestion here? 21 years old been working around 1 years plus with RM7000++ . Currently staying with my parents and I don't have any debt, loans or giving my parent allowance. Now driving Toyota Vios J. in was in your situation before and i wished someone advised me from getting a car . instead , get a property first . Ask papa / mama's help to pay downpayment for a house and invest in that . with ur income , u can own 3 x 200k property ( Cheap apartments ) which has good rental yield . car is something u look at when u r 32 . Guys priorities getting cars to increase the chances to get girls ... but when comes to life , u need someone that are willing to look beyond ur monetary wealth . So get car at later stage in life .

Hmmm ... Banker might only approve your car's monthly installment MAX RM1200 based on your salary RM2500+RM1500 (30% Commission). You can go for C segment car with around 110k. but ... since you are blank in any commitment record, no credit card no properties, no car record ... you need a guarantor to back you up.
between ... forget about your Mustang ... I cant afford it with my 15k salary

Thank you guys for your opinion. But I don't think I wanna to get a new mustang coz due to malaysian ringgit drops. Basic 2.3 litre ecoboost new mustang cost 435k. Would plan to get a new car also. I wanna to experience to loans. Now a days properties dont ever go invest for my opinion is not good right now. =D Anyways Thank you guys!

Just my 2 cents as my professions Okay, back to the topic, i suggest TS should opt for <150k car (mainly Civic, Altis, M3 etc) are good choices. You are 21 years old, buying any cars with your own money is proud enough This post has been edited by VincentCS: Jun 27 2015, 01:13 PM

My rule of thumb? Buy a car that is no more than your gross annual salary.

Now a days properties dont ever go invest for my opinion is not good right now. =D Anyways Thank you guys! Cars value will always drop but property value still increases. You invest in property, keep it for 5yrs, can sell for big profit. Once you got that profit, then start thinking to buy better cars for fun. If you buy a car (which you actually don't need coz yo already have a FREE car from company), 5 yrs later your car value is probably only 50% of the price you pay now and yet you still have to pay for the loans while your reselling price is actually already below your outstanding loan. Now do you think that's good?? Anyway we can only advice to the best of our knowledge and experience. Like McFD2R said, it's your money it's your life, it's your choice. If you make a wise choice then it's you who will benefit, vice versa if you make a poor choice, it's also you who will suffer.
