Obris Morgan didn't list this watch and upon more search Boris Morgan deutsch brigitta is found only on eBay. Maybe on some China movement for all it matter

I read a bit about Obris Morgan.
It seems one HK company bought a 60's German Watch company and did various experiment with it.
At first they tried to do homages, then homages with their own mixture of designs, until they found their identity; the current OM.
So I guess this is one of the experimental ones.
Seems like a nice watch, with nice design, Miyota? movement, 300m somemore. hmm.gif

I am not finding a German name in the 60s in the articles I saw on WUS etc.

Its a HK company using a German name.
China made using Miyota 9015, if the design is really rated to 300m.
Some claim no warranty

I emailed Obris Morgan about the watch.
This is the reply:

Dear Hanif,

Thanks for your letter.
The Brigitta is a model in 2007, that's 43mm stainless steel watch.
It installed Seagull movement.

Thank you =)

Went to PK time and the repairer said the movement is spoiled and need to be replaced. Problem is it will take 2 weeks, which I definitely do not have the time for. So yeah, I'll get her something else la. It's a shame really, coz it actually looks very nice for a dress watch.
*
Just send it for repair.
And tell your mom the present is a bit delayed la. tongue.gif

Hi bros, I'm eyeing on this

[attachmentid=4979646]
it is an old design (2~3 years ago) and hardly to be found in watch shop because it is almost obsolete model.

Fortunately i saw it in timekeeper, but they only offer me 15% discount =(

Any advise where can i get a good price for this ?

Besides, is there any other brand which I can consider besides tissot ? I notice in the market is either tissot else you have to go higher level : oris, longines...
I'm looking for a rubber strap watch, similar to the picture above...any good advise ?

Thanks

Let me try.

Hi Desmond,

Yeah..i did see those 2 in timekeeper. but the price is the same (or more )as the tissot i posted and I'm not sure about Certina since it is not so reputable compare to Tissot in MALAYSIA and not sure whether is it worth the money. (correct me if i'm wrong)

I knew it is a good brand indeed.

Thanks for the recommendation !  smile.gif  smile.gif  smile.gif

This isnt good for independent watch repairers.

Good business strategy on swatch to ensure that only they can service/repair your watch and nobody else.

One poster mentioned that since ETA fabricates the components from china, the parts do leak out from those factories.

or you cannibalize a chinese knock off ETA movement, i read that most if not all of the component are interchangeable between the real ETA and china knock off ETA movement.

Yours is a used squale right? The 1521 or the 1545?

I am planning to get the 1521 when gnomonwatches stocks them up in another 2-3 weeks, but most likely at a 5% price hike.
*
Yup, used 1545. thumbup.gif

I had an Orient Ray.
The bracelet really puts me off.
And without bracelet, the 40.1mm case - 22mm lugs really didnt work great for me.

Hi, anyone has any recommendation for NATO straps? Looking for quality ones, 2mm like that. Those I bought for RM20-25 are really flimsy and cuts my wrist sad.gif
*
You can PM AppleDarren (I cant remember the correct spelling for his nick, search in this thread) or look at Wristsolution store.
I have tried Infantry brand Zulus from ebay, they are very cheap and very thick, good quality. Around RM18 I think. I haven't tried their Natos tho.

QUOTE(tjin @ Oct 10 2015, 01:06 AM)
Can I say that patina is some sort of a corrosion?
*
QUOTE(Farmer_C @ Oct 10 2015, 06:38 PM)
Sorry I've never heard about that. I don't think stainless steel or gold or platinum watch cases can develop a patina. Probably not a good idea to do that. hmm.gif

About your second question, I don't think it's easy to cause a breach in the patina of the movement bridge or plate in daily use because it's sealed inside the case.

What I've read is that if you send your Lange watch for servicing, they will remove the patina from the bridge or plate. You can consider that 'breaching' because that protective layer has been removed, thus exposing the metal underneath it to corrosion. So, the process begins again - the movement plate/bridge will develop that patina on the surface and the metal within continues to be protected. In theory, when they remove the patina, the movement plate/bridge gets thinner because that patina was once metal from the bridge/plate. Of course, the amount removed is so little that it is insignificant. I'm not 100% sure if Lange actually does this so don't quote me on this.
*
Why do you talk only about movement patina?
I think he is asking about case patina, and watch lume patina, which is more famous among watch enthusiasts.
