Yes, quartz in long run is cheaper maintenance. But i m a mechanical person. I prefer automatic over quartz.

For lady, most of them prefer quartz due to convenient sake. Unless, she is also a mechanical person.

I am not sure of the service cost for Omega Co-Axial, never own 1 yet. But RM1,000 ++ is easily.

Someday, i hope to own one of the Master Co-Axial Chronometer. Sounds very high tech mechanical movement built.

Cheaper perhaps less I don't know
My old tag bring for battery change, 9 out of 10 they make me go overhaul. Cost extra a lot extra...

Of course today Quartz can run 36-45 mths or longer makes it real nice

Service anyone can do it, repair harder.
Service is just cleaning and oiling.
My local watch maker is certified Rolex service guy, he does PP , AP, JLC. They are trained to know how to dissemble and assemble parts clean and oil.

Since swatch has factories in China, I am certain parts does leak out. There are many old broken ETA mvt out there to let ppl use as parts.
*
There are definitely " 2nd grade " ETA mov. being shipped out from their factory.

Been lurking around in replica watch forum's and what I know is that most (or some) of the rep watches that come with ETA movements has refurbished ETA parts

kinda skeptical about "refurbished" parts.
thats what fakers usually say to give their products more credibility...kinda like "rejected" perfumes which of there is no such thing.
we all know already got chinese copies of 6497 and also 2824.
nothing that they can't copy as long as the OEM guys set up factory there first.

This isnt good for independent watch repairers.

Good business strategy on swatch to ensure that only they can service/repair your watch and nobody else.

One poster mentioned that since ETA fabricates the components from china, the parts do leak out from those factories.

or you cannibalize a chinese knock off ETA movement, i read that most if not all of the component are interchangeable between the real ETA and china knock off ETA movement.

Yours is a used squale right? The 1521 or the 1545?

I am planning to get the 1521 when gnomonwatches stocks them up in another 2-3 weeks, but most likely at a 5% price hike.

i believe that will be squale's problem later, why worry?
maybe they may just replace the movement with a soprod or whatever that is a direct drop-in when it really needs major servicing.
